Who Is Ready For Some Snow This Weekend?

Texans are apparently planning breakfasts if we get the ice and snow that is forecast. I just came back from my weekly shopping and bacon and eggs were gone along with the usual bread and water.

Of course if the Texas grid goes down again, no one will likely make breakfast.

Welp update says Sat temp 12f hi/2f low, then at least 1 foot of snow coming afterwards, maybe 1.5 ft, maybe more.

I’m going out to get some milk, bread and eggs lol… might make the french toast ahead of time! 😁

Local news is starting to put out projections.

DH went to school for meteorology. Lots of chatter with him and his friends about this storm. They are mixed on what they think we will get.

We are to be bitter cold.
Many school are already closed or calling for elearning day.
Saturday to be cold too.
I heard chatter we are to get some snow too.

One of the younger ladies I work with had frozen pipes last Friday. So I did tell tell her -
Hey you know to open those cabinets doors and to run a drip this time.

Work is a stand alone, one story building out in the open. Maintenance called at the end of the day today and said bump up the thermostats and run water in two of the particular faucets.

Just finished wrapping external pipes and such. The beast is always our custom water filter tied into the main water line. Honestly, my biggest fears this time are ice and tree limbs bringing down power lines/hitting the house (or vehicles). Our town is dubbed “The Livable Forest” and that forest doesn’t do the best in extreme weather conditions. Parts were without power for weeks after Hurricane Beryl. At least we’ve already gotten gas and everything we could think of at the grocery store. Curious to see how much snow DD19 gets up in Norman.

weather is so unpredictable! we are in upstate NY and oddly enough will not be getting much of this at all, just the cold temps. I'm due to fly to Disney with DD on Saturday so I have no idea what to expect with that. I feel all out of sorts!

Finally! Some certainty… courtesy of WTKR.
Hey is this the latest forecast? I Jaden watched today between being lazy and then trying to clean ( I’m a weirdo who cleans before storms it helps me relax) I haven’t watched . If so I’m kind go digging it because for awhile according to some it wasn’t snow boot worthy but now I can wear them . My biggest issue is any ice , fun and games until power goes off but gotta prepare flashlights and glow sticks . U got a grill ? Work does lol

I did text my boss and was like are we still staying Friday - Sunday . He said only Saturday and Sunday for now lol.

Do you have a connection? If so, where?

Remember to make sure your cell phones are fully charged. Our vehicles live outside so we raise our windshield wipers when snow or ice is coming. Make sure they are turned off. A lot of people will put a blanket on their windshield to prevent ice buildup in storms.

Scraping ice is the worst.

Good reminders! Just made me remember to check that all our charging banks are topped off.

For my car, with it shut off I hold the wiper stalk down for a few seconds, it will cycle and stop them in upward position. Then I can just pull them away from the windshield. I think alot of cars have a similar function.

We are looking at 4-8" of snow here in the Bangor area, Monday into Tuesday. We already have well over a foot on the ground. I'm so over winter, but I'll take snow any day rather than ice.

If you are stocking up on food, remember to consider your cooking options if the power is out. Eggs/french toast won't do you any good if there's no way to cook it. Some things I've learned is to have coolers ready; if the power goes out, move your fridge perishables to the coolers and set them outside. There is often enough insulation from the cooler to keep things like milk, cheese, and veggies from freezing. If you are on a well, fill your tubs with water so you can "flush" the toilet if the power goes out. Do your laundry, make sure there are no dirty dishes in the dishwasher. If you have a propane grill, remember that you can boil water on it and then make coffee via the old fashioned drip method. (Obviously you can use the grill for cooking, too.) We would have lost our minds if we couldn't make coffee during the week we were without power!

We're in DFW. And they're calling for 1/4 to 1/2 inch of ice followed by 2-4 inches of sleet and snow. Hoping we get less ice and more snow.
