Who is planning for 2022?

I am over not having a Disney holiday on the books, and with DVC points burning a hole in my pocket I am throwing myself into planning a nice one week get away to California in late January 2022. I know it might all come crashing down, but I sure am having fun planning my days and reviewing my dining options. I have a six night stay in a Studio at The Villas at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, and worse case I can just offer it up as a dedicated reservation for rental.
Anyone else having fun planning?

I’m considering the 70th at DL as I went to the 50th and 60th anniversaries (and at other times before, between and after) so it would be nice to continue that run. I also had a trip to Shanghai and Tokyo DL planned which was replaced with a trip to DL over Christmas 2019 so I’d like to revive that at some stage in the next 2-3 years.
All pretty loosey goosey at this stage with no real plans in place although I had done a plan for Shanghai/Tokyo a few years back. 😁

In the early stages of planning Tokyo for either April or October 2022.

I just need that feeling of planning a holiday again, even though things are so uncertain right now

We're looking at going around October next year. However I must admit I'm a bit bummed at all the changes that have come about recently. Particularly genie+ and lightning lane. I'm pretty sure we're definitely staying off site this time around because I can no longer justify staying onsite, even renting dvc seems too expensive these days.

Initially I wasn't a fan (because I don't like change), but now I think lightning lane is a good thing for people like us who aren't park regulars and only go every other year or so.

It means I can basically guarantee that my kids will ride Rise of the Resistance on our next visit, which wasn't necessarily the case until now.

I’ve had a DVC credit that was going to expire September 22, so I’ve booked for the end of April/Early May. Flights are booked also
I’m hoping Expedia bring back the 10 day pass for Aussie and NZ, as we will be there for 6 days.
I am worried about what happens if one of us test positive before boarding our flight home 😳

Why don't you push back a few months - just so there's less chance of you needing to test before boarding?

We’re hoping to go July to DL and Knotts. We’ve already got credit with Qantas for our flights and 10 day passes for Disney which expire at the end of the year but hopefully will be extended. The changes don’t bother me too much, I agree with an earlier poster that LL is a good thing in the sense we’re guaranteed to ride ROTR. It’ll be interesting to see how home quarantining pans out.

We are looking at adding a stop on the way home for our next year September trip. Somewhere in the pacific.

Are the only options for flights from LAX, Hawaii and Fiji?

welp my patience caved and I've gone and booked WDW for March instead of waiting for November :rotfl:
I'm just full of jittery excitement, really didn't expect for accommodation to open up for just what we needed so I went for it

Is it possible to book Disney hotels direct from Australia, or do you need to go through a travel agent
Yes you can book yourself online or over the phone through Disney or specialists including this websites sponsor. You can also use an Australian Travel Agent although some are better than others and some online ticket resellers also sell Disney rooms.

Just read this:
  • If you purchased a promotional 2020 Canada Resident Ticket or Australia/New Zealand Resident Ticket, and have not used it, the expiration date will be extended through December 15, 2022, and the ticket will expire 13 days after first use or December 15, 2022, whichever occurs first. Guests who made their first visit between February 28 and March 13, 2020, but did not reach their ticket’s maximum number of uses, will have the 13-day expiration period of their promotional tickets extended to December 15, 2022.
  • Expiration dates on eligible 2020 Canada Resident Tickets and Australia/New Zealand Resident Tickets will be updated and visible online via your Disney account prior to December 16, 2021.
  • If you purchased a 2020 Military Salute Ticket, the expiration date will be extended through December 16, 2021. Tickets may be used on non-consecutive days.

Yeah I’ve been checking their website regularly and saw that this morning. Good news. We have a 6 year old so we’ll see what happens with vaccinations. Hopefully we can go next July.

Yeah my days of needing to be onsite are over. The Disney bubble is so busted as it is now. Universal has a 3rd park being built and is looking more and more like a genuine contender for the bulk of my time now. The Disney parks sound like a hassle now being glued to your phone all day.

I have just gone and booked and paid for Disneyland tickets (7 days all up) a 5 day hopper and a 2 day hopper) and 2 night stay at Disneyland hotel for October.

we will be going longer and having a split hotel stay as I have always wanted to stay at DLH but can't really justify the cost of it when would be at the park for most if not all the time. We have added to the end of our stay so we can use the pools more and enjoy the hotel .

I booked with a well know site and was able to lock in the old ticket prices with a peace of mind insurance added on so if we need to cancel we can.

Flight prices aren't available yet but i have been playing around with the dates by a couple of weeks just to see what it would cost. It is almost double what we had paid to go for our 2020 trip that was cancelled. Hopefully prices will come down once boarders open and flights start again.

We only paid $2800 for 2 adults and a kid which admittedly is dirt cheap but for some dates next year the fares have tripled! Give it a good four or five months and hopefully they’ll drop. At the moment they’re just milking the families who are desperate to see relatives and will pay whatever. There will still be times in the calendar down the track where the planes will be empty and they’ll have to fill them.

I’m waiting for that moment, but mostly not booking as I want more certainty before I start making commitments to travel, work leave, $$$, etc.

Our original plan for 2 weeks at WDW is now including a few extra days at Disneyland before flying home (and hopefully just missing Spring break crowds by then), honestly wasn't planning to stop there but I guess this is what the universe wants us to do :rotfl:
Husband is adamant we won't be going back for at least 4-5 years (we'll see) so might as well
