We are planning on going to FW from October 5th - October 17th and I was wondering who else is planning to go in October? We haven't booked yet and are hoping to do so in a few weeks time. Do you think we'll have any trouble getting a GG in October? We hope to get preferred sites close together.

I have looked at some of the decorations you all have posted and they are WONDERFUL!! I love the Mickey lamp post idea and am hoping to get DH to make us one before our trip. I am trying to rack my brain for ideas for other decorations that my kidlets can have a hand in making. Do any of you have any ideas or suggestions? I thought about cutting out a Mickey head from MDF and painting it black and making small holes around the perimeter to house small white lights. I'm not sure how it will look or how exactly I'll go about doing it but I'm hopeful that its do- able :) I also wanted to buy some awning lights but I can't find ANY Disney ones anywhere, any suggestions on where to find some or make your own covers?

First Trip October 5th - 12th!!!!

I don't know if you'll have trouble but when I wanted to add an extra night at our preferred site it was not available. But that was probably because I made the reservation online.

I am looking forward to F&W and celebrating Anniversary #9

Happy Planning and good luck getting the reservations you want. :)

I am about to book the 3rd through the 29th. I will have to trim a couple of days off the front and back of that once dh knows his R&R dates, but I am hoping we will be there. Only reason we won't make it is if dh's family decides they want to meet us at South Padre Island.

We usually go in Jan. or Feb. but had a GG at FW this past Oct. and had the best trip to Disney ever! :wizard:

Make your ressies NOW! Cancel what you don't need later! They won't be available for long!

We went last year during the same time you are going and the only complaints that I had were the heat and crowds. We were not too surprised about the heat because it was very hot in GA during that time last year, but............we were VERY surprised at the crowds.:confused3 I was dumb enough to think that we were the only ones taking a whole week off during Columbus Day holiday week.:sad2: Plus, so many schools are out for Fall Break. Oh well, it was still the best week of vacation we have ever had :worship: just don't be surprised by the crowds during that time. Then again, we went to FW for a week this past January and it was crowded then too! I don't think there is an off time anymore!

Have a fantastic trip and don't skip the Halloween party!:thumbsup2

I never thought about the crowds...eeekks :( We are from Canada and our kids don't have a fall break. What are the dates for the fall break in the US school system? Are the crowds significant enough that we should change our dates?? I was hoping to go in October to avoid the crowds...hmmm. Disney is wonderful no matter what :)

We were there the same time as The Flame last year, and it was crowded and HOT! I think other than the 4th of July it was the most crowded it has been for us. This year we are going back, but a week later. I'm hoping it will be less crowded after Columbus weekend(hopefully somewhat cooler too) We are checking in on the 18th and checking out on the 26th. We should be in the 500 loop if anyone wants to find us!

we went in 2006 and 2007 same dates 2006 no crowds great weather 2007 huge crowds really hot we are going in dec 17/22 in 2008 not sure about the crowds in Dec but it should be cooler , Oct is a great time for all the decorations and halloween stuff going on. Hummm wonder if we could work in a Oct trip I do love that time of year.

The wife and I our planning now for Oct.12-18th !!!!!!! hope to book by May s1st.!!!!!!!!:cool1:

We are going this year from Sept. 27 - Oct. 4. First time at the Fort. We were there last year on Columbus Day Weekend for the entire week. It was crowded that first weekend. At least for that time of year. But it thinned out as the week went along. But let me tell you last year the entire Southeast Us had a hot summer and fall. It was still in the 90's last year. Hopefully this year it will be a little cooler.

We don't get fall breaks here in Michigan either.

seabee- When we plan another trip in Oct. it will be toward the end of the month too! I hope the crowds will be a little lower but I would really like for it just to be cooler! All in all, it was still a great week to be at Disney! I hope you have a great time! Our trip this August will be hot but that is the only time we can go and still use our AP's before they expire, so no party this year!

I'll be there from 10/26 - 11/01. I was there last year from 10/6 - 10/20 and the first week the crowds were pretty big and weekends at F&W festival were brutal. I didn't mind the warmer weather at all, cause the last few camping trips at WDW were in December and it was COLD!! It was so nice not to worry about layering in the morning, stripping down in the middle of the day, then relayering in the evening. Short sleeves and shorts 24/7, I loved it!!!!

I used plywood not MDF

I was about to say. MDF is awfully heavy. Just some lightweight plywood will do the trick.
