Who is my guide?

Is there a spot on the DVC member site that still tells you who your guide is? I can't seem to find it if there is. I know I could call to get this but didn't really want to just yet. I'm pretty sure out guide has changed over but I sure don't know who it is.

I know some of you hear from your guides on a periodic basis, I don't think I've ever spoken to mine other than once in 2012 when I was inquiring about BLT points and was told how long the waitlist was.

I haven't spoken to our newest guide ever. I don't know what happened to our original guide but we only talked to her three times after our initial purchase. Once to add on at OKW when they tore down the Commodore House, once to buy VWL points before it opened and once to buy BCV points before it opened.

Unless you bought direct or inquired about buying direct, the guides don't seem to make contact anymore.

We bought our original contracts direct, actually we purchased 3 of 6 direct. I think we're on our 3rd guide.

In your case you probably don't have a high rating on their prospect list. They seem to focus on making the sure sale. The older guides that you have a history with seem to make contact more often. We get a call from ours each stay and when new resorts are announced.

I have no idea who our guide is either. For years after we bought in 2002, we had Glenn Wilson. Then a few years ago, someone called us and introduced himself as our new guide. "Oh", I said "You must have taken over for Glenn Wilson". Turns out he'd left the company a few years beforehand, and this guy was taking over for a different guide we'd had after Glenn left. Then, last year, I got a call from some woman, who left a message on our answering machine saying she was our new guide and to call if we had any questions. Yeah, who's our guide NOW? I think a name on the members' website would be a great idea.

If you aren't buying direct, it doesn't matter who your guide is. Selling timeshares can be a tough business, meeting sales quotas, dealing with people who have no idea of what they are buying, spending hours on a deal to have them rescind the contract and buy resale. A couple of years ago Disney changed the ASA and guide pay treatment and some left.

Our guide is Ricardo. He put us on the BLT waitlist today. He said the first person on the list for our use year was added mid-March, so we're about 4-5 months out. He seems like a nice guy - had just gotten off the Disney Dream doing a week of work on the cruise.

Simba's mom, Glen Wilson actually didn't leave the company, just switched what role he had for DVC. From what I've heard, he is pretty happy at his new role. When I worked for DVC before moving out of state a few years, I remember Glen first joining DVC. And JWG, I used to work with Ricardo too. He's a sweetie.

As for who our guide is as members, many of the mailings and e-mails we receive as members will have our guides' name right on them. If you want to know, MS should be able to look it up for you during your call with no problem.

The one I bought from in 1999 was a friend's guide. I called him and told him what I wanted to buy. I've had several since, they sometimes call to introduce themselves and feel around to see if I would be interested in an add-on. I don't express interest, so I don't hear from them again. One called me around the time Aulani opened and we were chatting when she asked if I would ever be interested in going to Hawaii. I told her only if Prince Charming comes along and wants to take me......

If you've gotten emails or mailers from DVC your guide's name is often on them. I had thought I saw it sometime on the website but took a look and it must have only been the emails/mailers where I saw it.
