How many of you are left with no discount for hotels in Sept or Oct. If you have an annual pass did you book with a DC discount ? I hate to book with DC and have to make new reservations if and when the AP rates come out. There seems to be a few offers that we can not use....
Fairytale package
Winter Dream Maker package

How many of you have already changed your hotel plans to stay at one of the other places with a discount???

I have 64 days til I go to WDW so I know I have some time still but if I wait to long and no AP discount appear then I might not get a DC discount (could be sold out of rooms for my trip)
My airfare is paid already, to wait this long would of cost me more then double for that. So I'm coming but.....

Just not enjoying this waiting game anymore.

We were waiting for our honeymoon. I saved all year for 2 annual passes for my df and I, and nothing:( oh well there was never a guarantee. We will probably stay at a moderate instead or I know the Hardrock has excellent discounts for Sept. 135$ with an entertainment card.

Good luck.

We are going in October (23rd - 27th) and I don't have anything booked yet. The only discount I can get is DC which is 10% and that is only if rooms are left for the DC discount. I'm pretty sure we'll be staying off property at a DTD resort or the Raddison. Maybe Universals RPR, it's a beautiful resort and has FOTL access!
All I know is there are alot of great hotels outside of Disney with really attractive prices.

I have a trip planned for end of Oct and early Nov.. IF no discount comes soon, I will just cancel. I have done alot of DIS trips so I don't feel the urgent need to pay rack rate for this trip. I tell myself MNSSHP can wait. The Food & Wine Fest can wait. May be taking a break from DIS will do me good.;)

We had 2 alternate dates to go to DW, one in Sept and one in October...I would rather go in October since my kids have their fall break then, but it looks like there are no AP rates for Sept OR Oct.

I'm thinking more and more that I will take my vacation dollars and go to NYC instead! :smooth:

We all have a Pr AP in our family. DC ran out this month:( No discount for our two week stay:( If it werent for the fact that I love WDW, that I want to spend my Bday at the GF, I would stay offsite. If they scrap discounts for room only next April I will either rent a studio at OKW or stay offsite.

Hello all!

Lori-n-NY,We are so in the same boat. I actually had a FTP booked, then decided that I did not want to pay for Hopper tickets since I have PAP. I did cancel the FTP and then booked using my Disney club discount (10%) for the same dates. We also have our plane tickets, so date flexability is not an option.

I do understand that Room Discounts are not a given perk, but historically speaking, we have become accustomed to a predictable pattern with room only discounts. And, if AP room only discounts are not offered or offered less often, that change is going to be perceived as a negative change to the benefits of holding AP's. Even though it was not a guaranteed benefit, it was a predictable pattern that we have become accustomed to receiving.

I do hope for a Room Only discount, but also understand that I may be paying near rack rates or staying off site for next trip.

You can still renew your DC until the end of the year for a pro-rata fee. Mine expired 7/31 and I paid ~ $12.58 to renew.

I have plane tickets for Oct 1 to 6 that I bought about 6 weeks ago, anticipating that AP rates would come out. We want to go to MNSSHP. We wanted to stay at BW. Last week I gave in and booked CBR for the 20% off AAA rate. Even if the AP rates come out I'm sticking with CBR and spending the money difference elsewhere. I had figured the AP rate at BW would have been around $199 or $222 with tax x 5 nights = $1,110. I got CBR for $660. So I'm saving about $450. If the AP rates do come out, I'll change it at CBR and save even more.

We're in the same boat. We couldn't book the FTP since we are only staying 4 nights after the Wonder cruise. We will keep our WL reservation, but it soes hurt to pay the AAA rate after the great discounts of the past few years!

Ironically, I got a postcard yesterday from Universal for a special at the Portofino Bay Hotel where we stayed last year. We will definitely do Universal next year instead of Disney if all they offer is packages. Universal hotels are wonderful, and you can get a 14 day pass for both of their parks, Seaworld, Wet and Wild, and Busch Gardens for about the same price as a Disney 4 day hopper. The deluxe hotels can easily be booked for less than $200 a night, and with FOTL access and AAA discounts on meals the savings are significant. I would switch for this year, but my kids have their hearts set on the Halloween party at Disney.

Personally, I do not think the current Disney offerings will sustain them over the long haul. In 2000 they got big crowds for the millenium celebration, but in 2001 it was so slow we booked the Poly for $179/night (this was prior to 9/11). FTP is great for this year, but I think the many repeat vacationers for whom the package was not appropriate will rethink their plans for next year, and a lot of first timers will not be able to afford a Disney vacation every year. I think we will see a return of the codes eventually, but not this year.:(

I am visiting for 12 days late Oct early Nov with APs. I have some days booked at WL at a reasonable rate ($154) having been 'moved on' from POFQ but I was also holding 3 days at AKL at rack rate for the end of the trip. I didn't book with DC discount as I was told I would be better waiting for AP rates as rebooking DC bookings was a hassle. I was getting a bit nervous about lack of AP rates so rang to get DC rate at AKL to be told there are none left (standard view). I have cancelled and got Wyndham Palace for £45 (about $67) through Priceline for our last 3 nights. We will be handy for DTD and have some more money in our pockets. They have lost a few hundred dollars from me.

We too are going at the end of August into September. We could not get any discount, so we bought DVC points for a week and are paying rack rates for the weekends. What a bummer! But we are going in 9 days!!!

We spend a lot of time at disney in the fall...planned trips for Oct., Nov and Dec....if there aren't going to be any rates...hubbys says book at Universal...the resorts are nicer anyway...lol.

I originally had POR booked for 3 nights and WL for the last 3 (trying to keep the cost down a little). I cancelled POR and got the Swan $99 deal. I figured you can't beat that even though it's not the themeing we wanted. I told my DH we will probably go through culture shock going from the Swan to WL! Do you think Disney will compensate for any medical expenses due to our extreme emotional distress??? LOL

I agree with everything said and I am more than a little frustrated with the "no codes." BUT, I did take advantage of the AAA discount and I am getting 20% off a moderate rate. Actually I am only paying about $60.00 more total than I would with a decent code. Honestly, I can live with that. Good luck to the rest of you. I give up and and am no longer counting on the Deluxe resorts.

Sian,

I know this is not really related to this thread...but...when were you notified about room changes due to POFQ closing? I have rooms booked for 2004 and was just wondering when they tell you what your options are.

Thanks!

I was unlucky enough to by my first PAP last month!!

Now we had to change our plans for this October.

I planned to splurge on a one bedroom suite at AKL for 2 nights (almost $1600) figuring i'd get AP rates for the rest of the week for the Poly Lagoon.

oh well. :(

Now , believe it or not, we exchanged the AKL for 2 rooms at the All-Stars for those 2 days. total of $360. That saves me $1240 which i put towards the Poly GARDEN view now. Total difference in price is $2000.00

We love the All-Stars, we were just there last month, so we have no problem staying there. I'd like to stay more days there and shorten the Poly part of the trip but we have plans with another family to be there at same time as them.

We are already planning a feb trip. And for the first time we are seriously considering a universal hotel. The kids haven't been there in more than 2 years because we always stay onsite at Disney. But we still have some days left on our passes. And i really like the buy one year get one year free pass and other resort benefits. Front of line access for one.

okay i'm rambling.......

Add me to the list of disgruntled. We bought APs back in May, with the plans on returning next year before they expired. When my "fare watcher" came through with an incredible air fare deal, we jumped on an extra trip this fall. We were really excited about using our APs to get a great room rate and were looking forward to trying out the WL.

Ain't gonna happen. We'll be off site instead. Might as well get a suite and put the kids in a separate bedroom/room.

cajunfan

I never did hear from Disney about POFQ closure as I rang them when I saw the information on here.

I guess I was lucky. I bought my AP in early Feb. and booked multiple trips under the bounce back code for resort guests present during that timeframe. Else I would be like most folks and either not going or staying offsite.

We plan on extending our trip in Oct. and if we do not see any codes, we will look elsewhere for the extra time.

Chuck

I was at Disney during the bounce back promotion, but never received any offer. I guess POFQ guests were not in the targeted group. I might have questioned it at the time, but I foolishly believed there would be annual pass holders' discounts and I let it slide.
