I thought it would be nice to see if anyone else is in the lottery, and who gets through......it would be great to have a WISH team there!!!!!

I'm signed up!!

Kristie, when will you find out if you've made it?

I have a friend running it, not a Wisher, who told me he already got his confirmation number/letter/email.

Not until June.
The closing date is June 1st, US adresses May 1st international ones, then they hold the lottery.
You can get an automatic place based on speed (runners only) or if you have lost the lottery 3 time in a row or run so many races with the NYC running club.

I've been told that there are only 50 spots in the NYC for cranks, so I am not expecting to get in, instead focus has moved to getting in to Boston....it will be alot easier!!!!!!

Lottery results for U.S. residents will be available on Thursday, June 4, at noon by logging-in to the Entrant Login.

Good Luck.

My husband is. He wasn't one of the first five names they chose this morning, although we held out collective breath when they said three of the first five were from our area.

Syko - On the news this morning they said they were drawing today. We have to wait until tommorrow to find out?? Grrrr.

Al least you will know tomorrow.....this is what I've been told:

Slots for the ING NYC Marathon are limited to 50 this year by NYRR, so each applicant will be reviewed for eligibility.
Due to the limit, there will be a lottery for handcrank entrants in mid-July.

I know quite a few people who already know that they got in since their credit cards have been charged. I signed up for the lottery but do NOT want to get in (just wanted to save my spot for 2012!). I can't check current charges online but since I'm in no hurry I'll just check online sometime tomorrow or wait for the e-mail on Friday.

I'm running the NYC Half Marathon in August so I'm guaranteed a trip to NYC regardless.

Just had a look and I didn't get in......I'll have to try next year.

I entered the lottery this year and was not selected.

Colleen (On the BOT thread) got in!!!:yay:

I had hedged my bets and signed up for the Marine Corps Marathon and will be running that this fall for the second year in a row.

Congratulations Colleen

I still have a chance of getting in as I have the secound lottery next month, eventhough I lost in the first one!!!!

I didn't get in :confused3 Congratulations to those of you who did!
I'll try again next year I guess... don't know if I'll still be running marathons, but maybe... this is one I really wanted to do once I wrapped my head around it!

Hi all - I lurk here periodically so I hope you don't mind me joining in on this thread. I signed up for NYC again this year (2nd try), knowing I wouldn't get it and knowing that that was a good thing, as I had a 2 month fight with my appendix this spring that really took a bad toll on my training. Then, I decided to go to WDW over Labor Dan and wound up signing up for the sprint triathlon while we're there. So of course, my running training has taken another hit.

Well, I opened my email today and (you see it coming, don't you), I GOT IN! You could have knocked me over with a feather. Seriously. But honestly, with my training being so poor these days (my longest in the past few weeks is just 6, with most runs being 3-4), it would be really hard to get ready for a full by Nov. 1. So, I'm going to cancel and hold my place until next year. By then, I can really get ready (now that it's gone, I know my appendix can't bother me any more!) and NYC can be the big fall trip! :cool1:

Good luck to anyone who got in for this fall! Have a great race!

Leslie

Of course, since I signed up only to get my place for 2012, I got accepted also. This year, I entered the lottery for both the Nike Women's 1/2 in San Fran and the NYCM and got into both!!!!! I never get picked for things so this is quite a surprise. I should go buy a lottery ticket and see what happens...

I'm not sure if I'm going to run NYC this year or defer until next year. I don't have enough vacation time to make a nice trip out of it and I will be in no shape to fly home Sunday pm/Monday am (I had to take Monday off to recover after running Chicago last fall.) But the thought of having to pay another $175 next year makes it a very expensive marathon.

Sorry to those who really wanted to run this year but didn't get in. If I could keep my spot for next year, I would gladly donate my spot for this year.

I GOT IN ALSO!!!!!!! It was only my second year applying so I really didn't think it would come through. Logistically, it won't work for us this year and I only applied to keep my lottery active so I would be a guaranteed entry in 2011. This is something I really, really want to do but it may be in my best interest to pay the extra money and defer it until next year. It's nice to know that if I do decide to postpone it a year, there will be other WISH participants.

Does anyone know when the 2010 race will be? I don't know if it is always the first Sunday in November or some other time.

TIA!

Leslie

I don't think the date has been set for 2010 yet, and it is not necessarily the first sunday in November -- I recall it being as late as November 11th or 12th some years.

I didn't enter the lottery for this year, but will be running it in 2010 -- I am a member of NYC road runners, and will get a guaranteed entry through their 9=1 program, where you run 9 of their qualifying races plus volunteer at one event before the end of the year and get a slot for the following year. I am psyched to see that it looks like there will be some WISH companions there in 2010!

Thanks for the info! That could explain why I can't find any date for 2010 anywhere!
