Who is going to Poly June 2011

Anyone interested in taking our leftover store stuff let me know.

We are having our driver stop at the store these are the items that we are going to get

Mr Pibb
Propel
Chips individual variety packs
Breakfast bars
Breakfast cereal individual bowls
Starbucks ground coffee
Powder creamer
Sugar
Filters
Full size coffee pot (if we can find it)
Large styrofoam cups
Plastic spoons

We always get these items and we always end up not using all of them!

Y'all tell me what your bringing that makes your trip a little better!

We travel with an extra picky eater, so we always bring peanut butter and whole wheat bread, gold fish crackers, bottled water and sandwich bags. So glad that our youngest eats anything. We'll also have a supply of breakfast-type stuff like bars, poptarts and some bananas and string cheese.

I hate to waste food and always try to not bring too much.

Last trip we brought coffee, filters, go cups and creamer etc., diet coke, water bottles, almonds, goldfish and a few other snack like items for car and room.

I am going to add blue gatorade this trip since my DD's have a new love for it.

we dont like getting too much either but we always do. I dont like leaving it in the room. (we already take care of the mousekeeping) we gave it to our favorite dis member last year, but she is not going in June  (you know who you are)
nuts! what a great idea!:worship:

One positive about driving this trip is that we will be able to take home all of the extras. Typically, we have tons of water and paper goods left over. I feel awful just letting it there.

122 days :D

Hey all, I just moved our days back a bit in case they extend school, it'll give us a buffer. We are now going to be there from June 8-13 so we'll also be able to do SWW. I think we'll head over to DHS on that friday, not sure if we want to face the crowds but I know my son would enjoy the parade. something to think about....:rolleyes1

:wave2: Over here!!!!

We switched our dates from April and are now going June 7-14. We wanted to do a Disney cruise but couldn't find a date that would work, and Hawaii is too far from Utah with an 18-month old. So, we opted for the happy medium--Hawaii, Disney-Style!!! Throw in some Star Wars, and we're set. I've stayed at the Polynesian years ago when I was in high school. This will be my husband's and our daughters' (1 1/2 and 6) first stay there (and their second Disney trip) and our first REAL family vacation where we are not tagging along with siblings, parents, cousins, etc. Can't wait!!!

:welcome:
how did I miss your post?:confused3 that is so strange.
Congratulations on your first family trip! look us up when you get there.

I changed your dates on the first page. My son is looking forward to star wars weekend. he likes the star troopers standing on top of the entrance at rope drop.:woohoo:

our dates are getting close! single digit dance coming soon! :dancer:

carlnix30- seeing that you've experienced SWW, what would you recommend is the must do items? I was thinking of getting there for RD and then booking it over to the Jedi training academy to get my son in line for the show while my husband grabs FP's for TSM. Someone mentioned there is a parade at 11am with the star wars characters, that would probably be cool. Is there anything else going on that you'd reccommend?

If you or your little ones are into getting autographs there will be an assortment of meet and greets. as you walk in, there will be a schedule and map to show you where. there will more than likely be actual actors from different star wars movies. I have not heard who or if they will be there but hang in there if you or yours are star wars fans you will not be disappointed.:thumbsup2

Dont forget there is going to be a new updated star tours ride. supposed to be 3D with a new theme. :woohoo:

last year as we walked along by the backstage show, we saw Darth Himself walking with his friends. kinda scary :scared1:

Just wanted to check in here. Our dates are still June 6-10. I have been studying books and looking at websites...can you be over prepared? Is it possible to go into Disney overload? Any one ever use line apps or touring plans to try and minimize wait times?

I thoroughly believe you can be over prepared! We did it the first trip with our monsters. We ended up throwing our overly ambitious plans in the garbage and just going with the flow. But you should have a basic game plan and your ADR's done! Touring plans work great for knowing when the crowd levels are the lowest and what park to avoid for each day you are on vacation. When you look at the stats and days they are telling you to avoid, it is usually the park that has EMH at night. Some people disagree but we always avoid parks with EMH at night even during the day. What happens is everyone plans to go to the night EMH and that is then park they go to during the day (crowded).

We have several line apps on our iPhones, they are generally accurate but you have to remember that they come directly from others in the parks. So it is based on the honor system anyone can put anytime on the app's verizon phone are now offering an app for Disney and I would think they would be more accurate. Has anyone used that app?

We are coming coming from the Harrisburg area and it IS a long drive. We leave at bedtime so that the boys sleep most if the time and then take turns driving. The last time we did it, our oldest was 22 months. That was nearly 5 years ago.

Yay! We had to add a day to our reservation because the flight we wanted (non-stop from Orlando to Salt Lake) was full. So, we get one more day and don't have to leave until the 15th. The nice part is that that I budgeted too much for flights, and the excess amount just about covers the extra stay. :woohoo:

Must be something you like about driving. On a lighter note, my kids are in Pa cyber school and most of her teachers live in your neck of the woods. :thumbsup2

Congrats on your extra day and savings! I will happily change your dates.:thumbsup2

We don't mind the drive. I grew up doing the "Disney Drive" every other year. My husband went to school in Daytona so he did the drive on a very regular basis, too. He is a pilot, and I think that he sometimes gets tired of being in an airplane LOL

As for the cyber school, I find that fascinating. How long have they been involved with it?

Wow a pilot! I have the utmost respect for him. :worship: my neighbor was a pilot for AA, he was NEVER home.. Long hours and always in an airport.

As you may know public school in philly is terrible. No matter where you live. We live in center city area and there was so many disciplinary problems that we removed them from elementary school. They have attended Pa cyber now for 6 years. It is free! All books all computers ( they were given laptops) so they can go to school anywhere. If you would like to know more PM me.. I love talking about it.:thumbsup2

I have already made my ADRs...Chef Mickey 700am on Tuesday Morning, Wed. Spirit of Aloha at 500pm, Thursday 1130am Chrystal Palace, and Friday 820am at Cinderella's Royal Table. We (I) am planning Monday starting at Magic Kingdom, back to the hotel for a rest, then Epcot. Tuesday HS, Wed. Possibly AK or back to Epcot (we were not thrilled with AK on our last trip). Thursday starting at MK until our lunch at 1130, back to the hotel, possibly back to Epcot. Friday we will finish our trip at MK. We will spend the majority of our trip at MK.

We will have 17hrs in the car. We are leaving Friday late morning, I have to work half a day. We are planning on staying near Atlanta on Friday night and spending the night Sat and Sun somewhere near a beach..then backtracking a bit on Monday morning to check into the Poly. This is our 2nd big road trip, we drove to DC when the youngest was just 5mos old. What are your favorite car suggestions-I have a DS9, DD6, and DD3. DS9 would be happy to just play his video games for 17 hours...not going to happen!!

I love this site....thanks for all your amazing ideas and support...

When we went on a road trip to texas we bought three portable DVD players and loaded them up with movies. Just don't forget to pack to
Headphones and car chargers (we did!) not cheap at a gas station.

Thank you for the compliment. Dis has always been my faction before vacation.
As far as your trip goes I have a link that you might want to see..

Melissa and Doug make some fun wooden car games, we have the license plate game, which is a map of the states and all the license plates and when you find one, you have to flip it over, the kids learn the capitals too. My kids love it. They also have a hangman game which is fun too. We do DVD's, Ipods and leapster games, that keeps them busy for awhile.
