Count me in as a crazy that is going to be with the crowds. We are going with about 10 other family members. Scheduling was a nightmare, but this is the best time for everyone to come. Good thing is this is a long trip and with DAP's we can go in and out of the parks as we please.

August 23 - 31 - currently have reservations at HoJo's but always looking for a better deal. lol.

We're 22nd to 28th, staying at GCH and risking the crowds. We're doing other exploring in California before then - is such a long way to come we want to make the most of it!

We just booked our August trip!

Aug 1-6 at the Candy Cane Inn.

We have never stayed there before and wanted to try it. We've never stayed within walking distance before either and wanted to give that a try also. We first looked at the end of July, but discovered that the room rate didn't give the AAA discount at that time, and it cost more anyway. By going the next week, the rate dropped and discount kicked in so we save about $20 a night!

We are going down there Aug 9-16. I haven't booked a room yet so I'm not sure where we're staying but we're going because my dad has to be there for a convention so it'll probably be Hilton, Sheraton or Red Lion...

My DH and I are thinking sometime in August, maybe the first week. I see may of you saying the crowds will be bad, my husband and I were there in Aug 2008 and I didn't think the crowds were too bad. Is there something else going on?

The 1st couple of weeks of August were not too bad, but busy. The last two the crowds seem to double. Last year the last two weeks were just crazy and this year WOC will be up and running. We are staying away from the AP unblocked dates as best as possible. Remember, it is very subjective.

I don't think it is too crowded in August, as long as APs are blocked out. It gets swamped in the afternoon, but we hang out poolside in the afternoon, and cause we usually have a bunch of Fastpasses for evening, evening crowds don't bother us too bad.

I was there in June, 2006 the week Pirates opened with the Jack Sparrow overlay. Now THAT was crowded!!!!

Thanks to all of the helpful advice I received on this board, our family of WDW (and Newport Beach) vets will be at the GCH August 21-23! I went to DL several times as a child, but I don't remember very much and this will be the first trip to DL for our three boys! After many years of Disney-less trips to Newport, we finally decided to be brave and try DL in the summer!

We are going August 2 to 7 - thanks to the buy 3 get 2 days free. We are at the DLH. My kids have only been for one day in the past but to WDW a lot. We can not wait!!!
