Who is currently infected with add-on-itis?

I'm currently infected but holding out due to job uncertainty because of a merger of the organization that I work for. Once things settle out in the fall, I'm going to itching to buy more points. Who else is infected and thinking 2025 is your year to buy or add on?
Def infected but have college to pay for (2 kids) so cannot indulge in my Disney addiction too much :( delayed gratification is apparently a theme for both of us! I did just add on but it didn’t count because I sold another contract to do it 🥲😂

I have it, and it is bad. We started with 100pt AKV contract in 2013, and before the 10 day rescind period ended VGF was announced, we cancelled the 100pt AKV contract and rewrote the contract for 150pt VGF. Then, we wanted bigger rooms, so in 2017 we got on the VGF wait-list and added another 150pt contract. It is our largest because I was so excited when the points became available I forgot to split it into two 75pt contracts like our first purchase.

When BPK was added DH told me to do the 125pts to get the luggage, our guide said do the 125pts to get the luggage. I balked because of helping out an extended family member with their wedding and only went with 75pts. Less than a year later we added another 50pts and I listened to the "I told you so" speech from both my DH and our guide. Both were right I should have gone straight with the 125pts.

Then DD talked her dad into adding on at CCV because she loves it at the holidays. He is a push over with her so we did the add on of 75pts at CCV for studios. This last Thanksgiving was our first trip in a studio at CCV and even before we got there DH and DD and I agreed to add another 75pts so we could do 1bedrooms moving forward. Both DH and DD need their space. Then we arrived at CCV and went to the Moana 2 DVC preview. DD loved the PIT pictures and we did a tour. Instead of the 75 CCV points we were going to add we bought 100 Poly points that started as 90 pts but with the December incentive release we bumped it to 100pts. The 2 bathrooms in the 1 bedroom sold us. So now we will rotate every other Thanksgiving between Poly and CCV. (I did push our guide about VGF points instead of CCV or Poly, but he was very clear that ship had sailed unless we went resale.)

Signed to paperwork in mid December and have a delayed final payment until the end of January. You would think we are done. Nope, I am already trying to figure out how to move from a 1bdrm to a 2 bdrm for the Thanksgiving trips starting with needing another 50 CCV points. DH just shakes his head at me and walks away. The itis is real.

We are in the same boat. We have another 2 years and then I hope all college loans are done. Then the addonitis will really be there!

I'm chronically infected. Sometimes the infection is latent, but it's always there.

I recently added a small RIV contract.

I'm fiercely tempted to buy Poly, but I think I'm going to wait and see how the Lakeshore Lodge shapes up.

I have considered selling one of my VGF contracts to combat the disease, but I know I'd have severe seller's remorse.
Definitely infected here, too! I'm trying to resist adding Copper Creek at Wilderness Lodge since we just stayed there over Christmas and I love that resort! My dream is to stay there this December in the cabins. My son came up with the idea for my birthday that I could be sitting in the hot tub watching fireworks eating a Mickey cupcake while drinking from a Disney sipper with a glow cube! Does it get any better than that?

I just closed before Christmas on a VGF contract and wishing I had more points. I'm jealous that you have so many that you are thinking of selling!

I'm with you on waiting to see how Lakeshore Lodge shapes up. We could see the big crane where the construction is going on while we were in WDW last month. I'm wondering if the Lakeshore Lodge will be combined with the Cabins at Fort Wilderness when it goes on sale to help those sales and annual dues costs since they are so much higher than other resorts.

I go back and forth between thinking we have too many points and wanting more. We really don't NEED more but Poly is probably the last monorail resort to go on sale since I don't see them adding another stop to the line anytime soon aside from maybe an expansion at BLT? But regardless, we'd love to own there for proximity to TTC and we love Polys theming and tiki torches at night 👌

I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place in terms of which resort I would even consider offloading. Can't drop Riviera for obvious reasons, it'd be hard to drop Aulani since all the math points to sub dues being great SAP. That just leaves AKV and we only own 125 points there so it's not even that much and it's the only way for us to get club level which is IMO an amazing perk of owning there since no other DVC resort has that available for points so I have a hard time dropping that as well 😭. Oh well, I'll just make my least favorite child pay for their own tuition when they're older.
We just stayed Club Level for the first time at Grand Californian and Wilderness Lodge this year and that is addicting, too! So nice to just walk in and have food ready and not have to ask everyone what they would like to eat and place orders and wait. I wish DVC would allow members to add on club level as an option to our stay since we would definitely take advantage of that. That is such a great benefit with AKL to have a chance at club level.

Haha I’m infected as well it seems.
I have bought my first DVC contract last year at AKV (resale) and now I’m looking to add-on 150 points with a direct purchase at either Riviera or Polynesian to be able to access the member benefits and stay at the restricted resorts. I’m also thinking about potentially getting a fixed week in spring but don’t know about availability yet.

My struggle is that deciding between Riviera and Polynesian is so hard because I love them both and they are so similar in many aspects. I haven’t seen the Island Tower in person yet but it looks ‘ok’ in videos in my opinion; the standard and preferred views are a letdown, while TPV is so expensive. One pro for Riviera is the better points chart but one pro for Poly is that there are no resale restrictions if the need to sell that contract ever arises.
Does anyone have some ideas on how to make this decision?
My two cents would be to go with Poly mainly because of the resale restrictions at Riviera. I saw a video yesterday that the average DVC owner keeps their contract for 7 years and then sells. So, I try to keep in mind what the resale value would be of my contracts if I sadly ever do need to sell. Plus, if you buy poly direct then wouldn't you be able to still use those points at Riviera? That way you have the best of both resorts and peace of mind that you won't run into resale restrictions later on down the road.

With Italy and Greece coming up for you in June I don't feel to bad for youze.

Would it be possible to split the contract 75/75 between Poly and Riviera and still get the 150 points direct member benefits? That way you could bank and borrow and points and still have 11-month window at both resorts?

I have thought about that as well as it seems like a good option. However I’m not sure if that can be combined with incentives as they only kick in from 150 points. I’ll have to ask my guide about that.

I own at Poly (direct) and BCV (resale).
We stay most at BWV (makes NO sense whatsoever).

Had absolutely NO desire to add on at Poly. Then last week we walked over to the Tower and shocked to see how beautiful it was. I'm not crazy about our stays at the Long Houses (though do love the quick walk to Ticket & Trans and go wherever we want from there) mainly because that area is so darn dark at night. Always felt (13 years owner) they needed up upgrade the lighting. Was there several times late at night alone and wasn't crazy about the feeling.

Daughter & Son in Law staying in the Tower for 2 nts end of January. DH & I aren't because I snagged a shocking Club level at AK for one night and then BLT (DH's fave) for the next. But we certainly will visit the Tower Poly room and hopefully not have the urge to get more points. It's not reasonable at our age (old) to buy more points but the craving is always there....even to be able to own at BWV and 'possibly' snag standard rooms...what a point savings. But darn about 2042 expiration.

DVC in 2013 was the best move I ever made and deeply regret not buying sooner. Darn. Never in my wildest dreams (nightmare) would I think DVC would be now in the $250+. Holy Cow!

Good luck with your Addonitis. It's a fun disease.

Fair, but I’ve been planning and budgeting for this big bday trip for 2 years 😏 after 2025 bday fun I’m on strict budget unless I come into some unexpected dollars LOL

Your son sounds like a keeper! That is a birthday dream for sure!

I’ve been going back and forth about adding on at AKL. It’s one of our favorite resorts to have rest days at and once they replace the pull out couches the 1 BR SV will be near the top of our list for best rooms.

We are at 350 pts now between RIV and Poly and I’d really like to have 500, but I just can’t decide if I’d rather keep liquid funds so we can cruise DCL more often vs be locked into a DVC stay. Tough decision.

I've been eye'ing a 75 pt stripped resale contract that's listed for firm asking price of $92/point. BUT...

  • seller can't close until Sept.
  • no points in 2025 OR 2026.
  • ...so would have to wait until 2027 to use any points.
  • seller offering a $759 credit toward 2026 dues
  • ...which would mean I'd have to pay dues in 2026 on a contract I can't even use.

Therefore, nah. That one isn't worth it. At least, right now in Jan 2025 it's not worth it.
