Who is currently infected with add-on-itis?

I'm currently infected but holding out due to job uncertainty because of a merger of the organization that I work for. Once things settle out in the fall, I'm going to itching to buy more points. Who else is infected and thinking 2025 is your year to buy or add on?

ME I have suffered from this for almost 2 decades at times it’s been unbearable I thought I was gonna break from the strain of it…. But I’ve endured….. isolated… and then it reared it’s ugly head it just wouldn’t go away it’s an insufferable disease… so I caved in and purchased a small contract I thought I’ll be OK…. Nope !! it starts right back up again I have not found a way to make it go away looking at my bank account help helps!!! That seems to send it into remission

I'm chronically infected. Sometimes the infection is latent, but it's always there.

I recently added a small RIV contract.

I'm fiercely tempted to buy Poly, but I think I'm going to wait and see how the Lakeshore Lodge shapes up.

I have considered selling one of my VGF contracts to combat the disease, but I know I'd have severe seller's remorse.

Don’t do it - I sold one of my resale VGFs in Nov (with the intention of selling my other after this trip) to buy a FW @ POLY and I’m definitely kicking myself…nothing against POLY we just had such a wonderful time and the FW seems less important now…

Although it is SO tempting to be here and get caught up in the moment…I’m avoiding the DVC desks as much as humanly possible

I go back and forth between thinking we have too many points and wanting more. We really don't NEED more but Poly is probably the last monorail resort to go on sale since I don't see them adding another stop to the line anytime soon aside from maybe an expansion at BLT? But regardless, we'd love to own there for proximity to TTC and we love Polys theming and tiki torches at night

I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place in terms of which resort I would even consider offloading. Can't drop Riviera for obvious reasons, it'd be hard to drop Aulani since all the math points to sub dues being great SAP. That just leaves AKV and we only own 125 points there so it's not even that much and it's the only way for us to get club level which is IMO an amazing perk of owning there since no other DVC resort has that available for points so I have a hard time dropping that as well . Oh well, I'll just make my least favorite child pay for their own tuition when they're older.

I’m also thinking about potentially getting a fixed week in spring but don’t know about availability yet.

My struggle is that deciding between Riviera and Polynesian is so hard because I love them both and they are so similar in many aspects. I haven’t seen the Island Tower in person yet but it looks ‘ok’ in videos in my opinion; the standard and preferred views are a letdown, while TPV is so expensive. One pro for Riviera is the better points chart but one pro for Poly is that there are no resale restrictions if the need to sell that contract ever arises.
Does anyone have some ideas on how to make this decision?

Can't help but feel personal opinion here but I would favor the Poly. One of the best resort locations there is (walk to Monorail to Epcot plus direct boat/Monorail to MK) and to me I would still mostly prefer to stay in the long-houses versus the overpriced tower, but those long house studios are simply wonderful and the vibe of being in the center of that resort is so great. Best thing about owning at Riviera to me is the standard view rooms are the "better" rooms IMO and they are best accessed by owning there. I agree the resale restrictions are a problem if you think you will be selling off within 10-15 years, otherwise that should be a non-factor.

In the end, I would search your heart and ask yourself "IF I could only stay at one of these two resorts for the next 20 years, which would it be." That's the right answer. I have crunched plenty of numbers on DVC, but in the end we bought a contract at Boardwalk not because it was smart but because we "had" to stay there during food and wine.

In all seriousness as someone who owns RIV and with plans to own Poly, if there's any doubt about wanting to keep it for the long term, buy Poly. If wanting to keep them both for a long time regardless, I'd ask myself do I prefer MK/Epcot access via monorail or do I like the skyliner for Epcot/HS? You seem to not really be a fan of the decor of Poly tower, I don't think you really need 11 month priority for the longhouses, how do you feel about the rooms at Riviera? Just trust your gut and pick the one you think you'll be happy at.

I was in the same dilemma, but I already have VGF so didn't necessarily need any monorail points, so I ended up buying more RIV to be able to get into a 1-2 BR at 11 months.

If I didn't own the VGF, I probably would've gone for some Poly.
Starting with owning neither, I would be tempted to get 100 of each, incentives be damned. Then do a yearly RIV/Poly split stay or alternate each year.

We're infected... or at least my spreadsheet is; you should see how many tabs that poor thing has.

We originally bought 100 AKV, resale, in 2023 and looking to add on this year.

I am thinking resale again, but with SSR SAPs this time, as we don't really care about the perks... and by thinking, I mean that I expect to put an offer in by the end of this month.
