Who is counting down to Aulani?

We booked our DVC room right at the 7 month window and then started watching airfares. They didn't budge for 5 months and paying $1300 pp would not have been feasible for us. Then, shortly after Christmas (just over 2 months from our trip) prices dropped dramatically. We changed our departure airport to get fares for 1/2 price what they had been and suddenly seats were magically available using our FF miles when none had been available previously. We ended up having to adjust our days on both ends of the trip but got our flights for $5 each using miles (fare would have been $700 round-trip otherwise).

That was wonderful!

You just went, right?
Maybe it is due to the time of year and flying out from the west coast. We are going in Summer..which I imagine is peak season. There are 13 of us flying out of different locations (Sacramento, LAX, Las Vegas...plus Austin and the Dominican Republic). The fares just keep going up at all and up for us from all airports. Seems like folks on the east coast get better airfare deals from what I have seen on these boards. You would think the west would have a break because it should be less fuel to get there.

Yeah! I can't believe you waited until now to get air. I'd be a nervous wreck!! Lol! Did you get a good deal? Maybe I'm doing things the wrong way and just need to have patience!

We also have a 2 bedroom at the beginning of August and can't wait! :)

Susan

We'll be there beginning of August too! Have you booked any meals or excursions yet?

Yes, I signed up for every fare finding tracker I could find and it was Delta who started the sale when they started dropping for us. Hawaiian dropped too so we considered flying one airline to LA or San Diego then catching Hawaiian to the islands before all our pieces fell into place. It seemed like their planes weren't full so the price dropped (which was surprising since we went over Spring Break). We even moved up to 1st Class on the LA-HI flight due to empty seats.

It has been driving me crazy. I was waiting to see if daughter was joining us and then they got too high. I have to tell you I was losing my mine. They wanted 1,400 dollars for the R/T with 2 stop overs. I decided to try Priceline for a few days, no luck, Then on tuesday night i decided to call the airlines and AA gave me a price $200 less then the internet with great times and only one stop so I grabbed them. Was it cheap, NO but it was cheaper then I have been finding. 1,191.00 per person. I know that is really high but we are going the forth of July week, traveling on the weekend and coming home on the 5th. Did I know I shouldn't book the hotel for those days, yes but my daughter works for a school and that is her week off. So everything that I could do wrong I did, but I am going to Hawaii. :woohoo:

That's right--you're going to Hawaii! :) we paid about the same as you and booked right when our fares were released. We were able to use two companion fares though so we only paid for two people instead of four, so that helped. :)

It looks like a few of us will be there at the same time! We are down to 48 days as well! We are trying to buy things a little at a time. I've got a"Hawaii Box" that I am trying to keep everything in. And my lists are out of control. Regarding airfare, we looked at airfare almost every day and we were hoping to find a fare between $900 and $1100 from Atlanta. One night, my DH was checking and he yelled that I needed to come check something to see if he had everything correct. When I went to check it out, he had found airfare with one connection for about $450 per person, so we got our flights for $1600 total. We connect through DC on the way and San Francisco on the way back. Of course, that means more money in the budget for fun stuff!

We booked our flights in October for this May. It was a crazy sale that was only on for about a day. We went ahead and purchased our flights prior to having our Aulani reservation, but at that price, we decided that we'd pay cash if we couldn't get Aulani with our points.

111 days! We can't wait to see the changes to the resort. I'm more excited than my daughter and it's going to be her 13th birthday. Can't wait to visit Laniwai!

My best friend and I are taking our babies and going this summer! I am so excited! We don't have a date yet though :cool1:

The wait is driving me nuts, we were there in 2012 and spent a week at Aulani and a week at Waikiki. This time it will be two weeks at Aulani (June 17to June 30th). We absolutely loved everything about the resort and cant wait to see the new pool areas along with the additional dining thats been added.
