who is a "pin trader?"......

Please look at PinPics www.pinpics.com and DizPins www.dizpins.com
They will get you off to a good start! There are MANY Tink pins. I know because I collect her. Tink, Malificent and Stitch are the hardest to collect because there are SO many and you really have to limit yourself (unless you are a millionare.) There are a lot of Alice in Wonderland pins too. On Pin Pics you can make a user name and add your wants, owns and trades pins. I do most of my trading with people on Pin Pics. On DizPins you cna check references by e-mail before you trade. I have been trading since about 2000 and collect Tink, Pluto, Haunted Mansion, Pirates, Nightmare Before Christmas, events we have been too (Food and Wine, VMCP, MNSSHP) and rides and hotels.

who on here trades pins?
:wave2:
can I say no
::yes:: Certainly. It is YOUR pin. :daisy:
I actually trade very little in the park, except for CMs. I trade on line through Pinpics. Old habit, and to me it is just easier and I meet great people from around the world.
Pin collecting and trading is a wonderful hobby. :wizard:
Look me up on Pinpics. I am Omega under Pinpics.

Also, CMs wearing the GREEN lanyard ONLY trade with children.

The CR has a pin trading party every Friday night. Children get to pick out 5 pins from a pin table for free. The party has SERIOUS pin traders there. I laughed.

I got a bunch of Euro Disney and Disneyland pins on Ebay cheap. The CMs were really excited to get them.

I have been collecting pins for many years long befoe it became fashionable to do so.I only use doubles for trading. I just started letting my kids trade. I have them use my trading pins. I We mostly trade with CM. I have really surprised the CM because i let them choose the pin they want. I put the kids pins on their lanyard with the locking pin backs this way they cant lose them or take them off and stick themselves.

What time is the pin trading at CR? My daughters would love it.

On our first family trip, two years ago, I really got into collecting pins. I never even thought about it before we went, but when we got there, I went nuts over all of the pins! I used to have a pin collection in high school - of various pins - so it was fun to start up something like that again. I only did trades with a few CMs. I had one mom and her teenage daughter stop me just to look at all of the pins I had! I was fun wearing them around. I've gotten a few off of ebay and plan on getting some before our trip that I can trade off. It's a shame the Disney stores don't carry a lot of pins anymore. I just found out last night that the stores are no longer owned by Disney - I had not idea! They were sold off last November.

I pulled out my lanyard the other night to look them over and oldest DD said she wants to start collecting pins this trip. I can't wait to get more pins this summer!!! :Pinkbounc

So glad pin trading is alive and well! We went to Disneyland Paris last yesterday and hardly any CMs had lanyards and practically no DLP guest. Only traded with other European guest like from England, Denmark, and Germany.

Quick question, we last went to WDW during the 100th year celebration and bought a set of the cute and huge pins that lit up as you ride or attended different attractions. It was cool to see my pin flash constantly while viewing Fantasmic. I wonder if I break open a new pin (I bought the set of 4 representing each theme park), will the lights go off on each pin as we ride the attractions. Well, this question may become moot if the batteries on those unopened pins don't work anymore and I can't replace the batteries. Anyone tried or still use these pins? :thewave:

I'm not sure if the pins still "work" at the parks like they did during Walt's 100th Birthday Year, but I believe I read a rumor somewhere that there will be another series with pins like this for DLR's 50th that will be sold at all the parks.

I got hooked on pin trading during my 2000 trip to WDW. I'm a pin collector/trader. My collection consists of Pluto and the Evil Queen. Lots of great info has been posted about the hobby. In the parks I mainly trade with the CMs. Disney recently released a third series of pins that can only be obtained by trading with a CM. It adds another experience to the parks for me, like going on a big "scavenger" hunt to track down the pins. I also stop and have some really nice conversations with the CMs now, whereas before, interaction with them was mostly "where's the restroom?".

It really is a fun hobby, give it a try and see if you like it. You just might get hooked!

P.S. - The pin meet at the Contemporary starts at 7:00 PM on Friday Nights. If you take a look at www.officialdisneypintrading.com, there are several pin trading nights sponsored by Disney during the week.
