Who Invited My Mother In Law? A Moderately Deluxe TR All New X 3 & PTR Link 2/3 !!

So much shopping!! Haha, I have to say, anyone that takes a kid into WOD at DTD is a brave soul. I find myself getting lost everytime I'm in there, seriously, everyone always gets separated, and after spending an hour browsing, you spend another 20 minutes trying to find each other! I couldn't imagine taking a little one in there with all those distractions, it would definitely lead to a time out!!

I love how Maddie knows how to work Daddy. Our youngest son always knew to come to his mom if he wanted something because his dad always said no. :lmao::lmao::lmao:

Sorry that we were having a bad day at DTD, but glad you two made up.

I'm afraid to hear where you went to eat at the Studios.:scared1:

Love that last picture of Maddie at DTD.

A productive, yet short day at DTD!

We love hanging down there, and I am glad Kadence enjoys it as well. I'm also glad that I now know we weren't the only ones ever to put the little darling in a timeout while anywhere in WDW! I do believe bad behavior doesn't get rewards!

I LOL'd when I read that yo hugged it out,:lmao: I was so happy when Kadence was old enough to understand we could finally talk it out.

DHS..... I'm gonna say Pizza Planet??

Is that what you had in mind for Kadence's skirt?

YES! I love Maddie's skirt! I've heard Agent P was going to start meeting in DHS, and I think her shirt and skirt would be a perfect match for that!

I've been reading along and enjoying your TR, but have only posted a few times. As a teacher, I just wanted to tell you that you seem like you're a really good mom. For you to stop and take a minute with Maddie to talk to her about why she was having a meltdown, and allow her the chance to learn how to express herself with words was so wonderful. I try to do this with my students a lot, because developmentally they just don't get it yet :goodvibes

Dum-de-dum-de-doodly-dum.... Let's see, page 59? I can do it! Okay, I'm off to page 1 post 1. See ya when I'm caught up.

Oh, I love the Potato Head parts you got! We have GOT to do that someday. Do you know that we have never been to the WDW DTD??? :scared1:

I totally feel you on the Disney time-out. Good job not letting vacation dissuade you from follow-through. :thumbsup2

Hmm, can hardly wait to read about your lunch.......

Not sure why people would have been confused seeing Maddie on the floor, I mean it's not as if kids only misbehave at home, time outs happen everywhere! :rotfl2:

Awww, poor little sweetie!! When I get my grandsons in World of Disney, or any of the huge shops, they end up on overload. I think it is just too much stuff, too many choices and often a few too many 'no's', although they are pretty darn good at understanding 'pick one thing'. ;)

She usually does pretty well not asking for things in real life, but at Disney it's another story. She knows that we'll spoil her there, and she goes a little crazy sometimes. I understand it, it's gotta be hard to be 5 and surrounded by things that you want.

It's hard though! I still remember on my first trip to Disneyland YEARS, no eons ago. We were on POTC, on the second day it was open. We had absolutely no idea what to expect. We went down the big 'hill', it was dark and my Mary Poppins hat flew off. I cried so much, that my parents bought me a replacement, which was totally out of character for them.

It was funny, because on Wonderful World of Disney, they showed the POTC on a special they had, commemorating the opening and other park changes. Guess what? It was my family in the boat and whoosh, there went my Mary Poppins hat. :lmao:

That's so sweet that your parents replaced the hat. I love that story.

I can't believe that you were on TV loosing your hat too! That's awesome!

Oh almost forgot! Love the Christmas store! Since our first trip to WDW I have bought my daughter and grandsons each a dated ornament for that year. We are getting quite a wonderful collection!

I love that store. I try to buy an ornament on each vacation (Disney or other wise). It's too hard for me to only buy one at Disney though! :rotfl: My MiL could probably do an entire tree in Disney ornaments. She's been buying them since DH was little.

Love, love, love the Christmas store! It's so hard to choose just 1 or 2 or 10 ornaments to buy! :rotfl:

Me too! I may or may not have gotten another ornament before the trip was over! :lmao:

I don't blame you one bit for wanting to get your money's worth on the Potato Head pieces. And isn't it scary how quickly kids learn which parent to turn to when they want certain things? When Reid wants to eat out, he always goes to Ed.

We really crammed in the potato head parts. She got some really fun ones! It is a little scary. Mads has had our number for a while now. She knows that mom is usually the easy touch, but when I say no--wear daddy down. He has no patience for shopping. He'll give in if we're there long enough.:rotfl:

Good for you for putting Maddie in time out in the WoD store. I'm sure that was hard for her but for you, too! :thumbsup2

Thanks. It was hard, and a little embarrassing. People were looking at us as though they'd never seen a kid in time out. We are pretty relaxed about the rules at WDW, but on that day she'd had about 17 warnings. We really had no choice.

And I hear ya on the talk about talking about why we're upset instead of being whiny, etc. I am going through this with Reid right now. No lie - we probably had this talk no less than 3x today. I keep trying to explain to him that if you just whine, scream or make ugly faces & walk away, I don't know what the problem is & I can't help you. I'm glad Maddie was apologetic & was able to verbalize why she was unhappy.

It's so hard! She's gotten a lot better about telling me what's on her mind, but on that day it was awful. We really thought she was being a spoiled brat and was mad that we were shopping for ourselves instead of her. But, once we got to WoD and were shopping for only her--the behavior continued. We also had to have several talks about telling us when she's hungry at WDW. It seems that the long days really affect her blood sugar, and that's when we usually have problems.

Can't wait to hear about the bad usage of DXDP credits at DHS!

Oh, it was bad. And poor Bryan had been so looking forward to EoS! :sad2:

DTD is fun to walk around, but I definitely can see preferring to be in the parks over stores! Glad that it was resolved fairly quickly!

I don't really blame her either. She is usually my little shopping buddy, but I can see wanting to be elsewhere at WDW!

As someone who spends snack credits on bottles of water, I'm curious to see what an even worse use of the DDxP is! :rotfl:

:lmao: We do that too! This was a bad one...:rotfl:

Let's see. You decided to visit two different parks and then catch a nighttime show and you get back to the room at midnight.

Close! Doesn't that sound relaxing?

I keep meaning to buy an ornament and then I think I'll wait until the end of the trip and I don't get one. Maybe next year.

I love getting ornaments from vacations. I'm one of those that gets really sappy as I pull each ornament out of the box every year.

Aw. It's a good thing she let you know what she was upset about. I wonder how often they stew about imagined slights, etc. without saying anything.

I'm glad she finally told us. I think they keep that stuff bottled up a lot. Always assuming that they'll get in trouble if they say what's on their mind.

Yeah. There goes that "relaxing" day!

Turkey legs? Hot dogs?

:rotfl:

Great update Shannon!

Thanks Laura!

I love the Christmas store too! I am obsessed with ornaments. I am loving those ear hats ones they have online right now. I want every single princess one. I may have put them all in my online shopping cart just to see how much it would be...

I love that store too! I could spend so long looking (and buying). I'll have to check out the ear hat ones...

I want to get Tessa a Potato head next time. She likes so few toys but has actually played with those at school so I need to let her get that.

I think it was a pretty good value too. If I remember correctly, it was $20. If you already have the head you could cram in a ton of stuff. We needed the head too, but we still got about 20 different parts for it. They were all Disney themed ones that you can't find anywhere else. I think that DH and I enjoyed doing it more than she did!

I would put Anthony in time out anywhere! I totally understand.

Thanks. I'm pretty comfortable putting her in time out at Target and the grocery store, but at WoD people were staring!

I had a feeling you all may end up at a park!

:lmao:

I love tht picture of Maddie with the Lego dogs. So adorable!

Thank you! She had to have that pic taken because the beagle looks like our Cooper. She loves those dogs.

I'm sorry DTD didn't go exactly as planned. In Maddie's defense, I tend to feel that way too whenever I'm there. Too much shopping for my tastes. :rotfl:

:lmao: I think that DH would agree with you.

That shouldn't be a difficult accomplishment at DHS. :lmao:

Sad but true.

:lmao: That's totally true! She usually does so great there. I'm sure it's because she's hoping that I'll buy her everything in the store, but still...

I don't blame her. I think MiL had used up all Maddie's shopping patience.:lmao:

I love how Maddie knows how to work Daddy. Our youngest son always knew to come to his mom if he wanted something because his dad always said no. :lmao::lmao::lmao:

She has his number for sure! Kids are so savvy about that. I'm usually the easy touch, but on this day she knew I wasn't giving in.:rotfl:

Sorry that we were having a bad day at DTD, but glad you two made up.

Thanks. It wasn't that bad in hind sight, but in the moment it was terrible.

I'm afraid to hear where you went to eat at the Studios.:scared1:

Love that last picture of Maddie at DTD.

Worst use of a Deluxe Dining Credit Ever revealed in the next update. :lmao:
Thanks!

Thank goodness I'm not the only one! People were staring! It was like they've never put their kids in time out!

I LOL'd when I read that yo hugged it out,:lmao: I was so happy when Kadence was old enough to understand we could finally talk it out.

DHS..... I'm gonna say Pizza Planet??

We'll see...;)

YES! I love Maddie's skirt! I've heard Agent P was going to start meeting in DHS, and I think her shirt and skirt would be a perfect match for that!

Perfect! I'll start looking for fabric next week, and then I'll have you get Kadence's measurements for me.

And Agent P M&G? That's awesome!!!

I've been reading along and enjoying your TR, but have only posted a few times. As a teacher, I just wanted to tell you that you seem like you're a really good mom. Thanks so much! That's awfully nice of you. I've always encouraged her to tell me what's going on in her head. I'm hoping that she's starting to understand that throwing a fit will always get her in trouble and that being honest rarely will.

Dum-de-dum-de-doodly-dum.... Let's see, page 59? I can do it! Okay, I'm off to page 1 post 1. See ya when I'm caught up.

WHOA!! Ponzerooni! I've included handy chapter links to make getting caught up easier!

I hope you'll enjoy it, I go a little easier here than I do on the 'sarcasm thread'.:lmao:

My guess is Pizza Planet as well!

:lmao:

Oh, I love the Potato Head parts you got! We have GOT to do that someday. Do you know that we have never been to the WDW DTD??? :scared1:

It was a lot of fun! They have so many really cool parts that you can't find anywhere else!

I CAN'T believe that you've never been there! Not even for dinner? I think you and Willow would enjoy it, they have so many fun shops to pop in and out of. And who wouldn't enjoy the princess room at WoD? It's the size of a regular store!

I totally feel you on the Disney time-out. Good job not letting vacation dissuade you from follow-through. :thumbsup2

Thanks. I do have to admit that she had about 39 warnings before I did it :lmao:

Hmm, can hardly wait to read about your lunch.......

:rotfl2:

Not sure why people would have been confused seeing Maddie on the floor, I mean it's not as if kids only misbehave at home, time outs happen everywhere! :rotfl2:

:rotfl: That's true! I see kids on the floor throwing their fits all the time at WDW! :lmao:

I did think it was odd though, that people were staring. It's not like I was screaming at her. In fact, I was whispering so that I didn't call attention to it.:confused3

Sorry your "relaxed" day got derailed, but everyone will likely be happier at DHS. What is it with guys getting all antsy while shopping, you should have sent your DH down to Raglan Road for a drink (that's what I frequently do with my DH), its 5 o'clock somewhere, right? :rotfl2:

I fully support time outs in WDW, although I don't think they are nearly as much "punishment" as I'd like them to be. Last April I put Everett into time out outside of Casey's, and right at the moment the Move it, Shake it parade came rolling out. Yup, he was watching a parade in "time out", wait a minute, this isn't punishment! :rotfl:

Hmm, curious about your dining credit...

Once at DTD, our first stop was the Christmas Store. It took me no time to find about 37 ornaments that I’d like to have, but I restrained myself and only bought two. I got a concentric Mickey head ornament with 2012 engraved on it, and Maddie got a Princess Jasmine ornament as a memento of this year’s transformation.

Hey, cool! That's the same one I picked out this last trip!

Next, we went to World of Disney. We’d gotten as far as the jewelry room before Maddie got her very first WDW time out. Ironically, she got a time out while I was looking for a pair of gold or silver earrings for her (hoping that fancy jewelry would help thwart her piercing problems) for acting like a spoiled brat. She wanted to leave, she wanted to look at princess toys, she wanted to have a snack. I wanted her to behave. We got some stares while she sat on the floor for 5 minutes, but I didn’t care. I was hoping that she’d learn a lesson. Luckily I didn’t find any earrings because I don’t think that would have been an appropriate reward for her behavior. :lmao:

Sadly, she continued to be whiny in the princess room. I probably should have put the Rapunzel pillow back on the shelf, but I’d promised to get it and honestly didn’t feel like tracking it down elsewhere. I was so fed up with her that I took a time out for myself while Maddie and Bryan waited in line.

When they emerged, Maddie was apologetic. She tearfully admitted to us that she didn’t want to be at DTD at all. She really wanted to go to Disney World. (to her Magic Kingdom = Disney World) We had a little family meeting about trying to say what we’re feeling instead of getting upset, and then we hugged it out.

I'm glad everything worked out okay. I know how hard it is to give a child a time out in public like that (and in WDW, no less!!)--I'm sorry you still had issues after, but am so happy she was able to verbalize what was actually upsetting her, so you guys could all move on. :goodvibes

I told Maddie that we weren’t going to go back to the Magic Kingdom, but that we could go to DHS if she really wanted to go to a park. Maddie and I agreed that we’d head there after lunch at EoS. (Thank God I insisted on getting those 7 day park hoppers “just in case”.) Bryan was so happy that Maddie and I had made up that he declared that we were skipping EoS. He (correctly) assumed that the peace treaty between the two of us could be dissolved with a single bratty comment and decided that he’d rather skip EoS and get us to DHS ASAP.

yay!! DHS! Can't wait to read more!

I know - isn't that weird that we haven't been there??? I think it is just that we are so focused on the parks and don't want to give up any time to something else. Maybe next time........

Thanks. I do have to admit that she had about 39 warnings before I did it
 I hear you - I have days like that sometimes with no Disney excuse for it!

Oh, cliffhanger!!

I love DTD, I could spend forever there, along with a lot of money!

I could spend hours in that Christmas store but Shanleigh behave like Maddie did so we usually have to leave:lmao: I remember getting frustrated with her on our first trip because all she wanted to do was go in the pool....I get it now...she was 6 of course that's what she wanted to do. Like you, I had to do the WDw timeout .... stares and all, but we did it too!

She is such a cutie in all the pictures and I can see why her daddy caves to her...I think Iwould too!

Finally caught up! Can't believe I missed 3 updates, my DIS time has really been slacking.

I've always wondered about how one gets out of CRT during Wishes (since the whole area is roped off for safety and all). Cheers to you for getting to see the show from a rare perspective!

REAL BACON IN DISNEY?! My jaw literally hit the floor. I agree, that alone is enough to make me want to try 1900. Glad breakfast went so well, gotta love a buffet.

Is it just me, or is getting a bus to/from DTD feel like a bigger accomplishment then getting a bus to/from anywhere else? :lmao: I do like the shopping at DTD but it really is a nightmare to get to.

Sorry about the un-magical moments. I feel like every trip has some at one point or another. I think you handled it well :) Can't wait to see Studios.

I'm not too crazy about EoS myself (every time I've had something from there it's made me a little queasy) but I think it's a better option than anything at Studios hahaha. Wonder where you ended up?

I'm glad your family meeting worked out! However, I'm pretty curious about this 'worst credit use ever!'

All caught up Shanalamadingdong. I won't break down every chapter, cause
a. it'd be huge, and I'm pretty sure this is your TR and not mine.
b. nobody wants to read a 12 page breakdown
c. I don't want to do it either... I'm crazy, just not that crazy.

So just a couple of observations.

Maddie is a real cutie patootie! Reminded me of the first time I took the DDs to the World. The youngest DD was 4 at the time. I don't 'get' people who say, "Oh, they'll never remember it. You're just wasting your money." So I guess what you're saying is a child's happiness is unimportant until, what, they're in college?

Don't get me started. Grr...

Loved all the pics of her and her princesses. There were quite a few that had me grinning from ear to ear. Priceless.

MIL.... Just two comments.
1. Are you sure the right person got the timeout?
2. You've already said you'd get together again for meals. If you get stuck with the tip again, here's a suggestion. Why not look at the money you've been given, then say, "Oh! Was there something wrong with your meal? Or the waiter? Should I ask if a manager could speak with you?"

Just a thought.

Enjoying the TR. You're photos are quite good. Nice and crisp with good colour cast. Looking forward to more (writing and pictures). :goodvibes

Just finished reading up to this point and wanted to say what a beautiful family you have! I've enjoyed reading and can't wait to hear more! We are leaving in 2 weeks and I just get so excited I try to live vicariously through every else's TRs prior to my trips!

Also thanks for the hair serum tip, I can't wait to try it out on all the dolls. my littlest one has a Pocahontas artist doll and it had beautiful hair until 2 days later, even my detangler couldn't do anything to it. I'll have to try the fabric softener.

Can't wait to read more! :cool1:

I know what it is like to shop with someone that wants to pick and purchase! I hope to put a beer in his hand and enjoy some shopping in October! I missed out this past trip trying to please! To the WDW time out...my Maddie was about 4 and we were shopping at Walmart. Madison has always been pretty good shopping but this particular day she was having a bad day. My mom kept trying to get her to stop misbehaving and told her she would be punished if she didn't straighten up. Madison looked at my mom and said "There's no corners at Walmart!" (That was our form of time-out) Do you know how many corners are in Walmart!? :lmao: Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do and others can get over it! I am more proud of parents that do discipline! :thumbsup2

I can't wait to see where that wasted credit happened! :scared:
