Who here uses CM's SBC+ for digital scrapping?

$9.95 is such a deal too... I LOVE digital... can you imagine if you wanted to buy a corner rounder, paper tearing tool, photo mats, etc. etc. etc. in the traditional world??? That would be BIG BUCKS!!

okay, folks. I'm going to be reporting on this piecemeal. I hope you won't mind!

I've been playing around with the operating basics so far, not in actually scrapping. What I'm thrilled about is that you can now use a windows-style filing system for your non-cm kits! As in I can have a file folder for Britt and put all of her kits in there, another for Happy, another for whatever - and no more scrolling down huge lists to find what you need.

You don't know just how happy this makes me! And I haven't even gotten around to the Search part yet!

So Jan -- Does that mean they are not actually IN SBC+ (so they won't slow down the program?) Or do you have to import them in? I took most of my kits out of SBC+ and the program started running a lot faster...

Christy,

I started writing a description, but then I figured out something else new. So I'll get back to you once I figure out this new thing!

This sounds totally cool. I can't wait to hear more. I use Windows Photo Viewer for most of my non Cm stuff now.

Christy,

I’m not sure if I understand your question, but here goes.

Working with art (cm & non-cm kits) in 3.0 is a completely different animal than 2.0. I'm going to call it "art" from here on out, just because that's what they use.

All my non-cm art is located in my computer in my >Creative Memories directory, and my SBC+ file is under >Program Files directory. So, in my computer it's C:Users>Jan>Creative Memories>User Content. Does this help/make sense? If not, let me know.

Previously, the non-cm stuff was named "my stuff". They have now renamed it "User Content" to keep it separate, just in case you have both 2.0 and 3.0 running (you wouldn't need to do this unless you're a consultant with customers who have not upgraded to 3.0.) When kits are transferred to 3.0 they are reformatted so they will work with the new operating system for 3.0.

Let me know if this helps or if you have more questions. I'm writing up how to get art into User Content and how to manage it, which I'll post later on when I've completed it.

Jan,
Thanks so much for all your time and energy to share the scoop on all the fun that awaits us with the upcoming upgrade! I have been (upon her request) supplying my consultant with a wish list of things I would like to see improved/changed/added to storybook in the future so she could pass it along to the "powers that be". Well it sounds like several of my wishes have come true because she called me the minute she got home from showcase this past weekend to tell me about all the exciting new functions! I can hardly wait and reading all your posts is just getting me that much more excited! Thanks again!
:woohoo::woohoo::yay::yay::cool1::cool1:banana::banana:

I just finished my first SBC+ photobook! I LOVE the program, but am shocked by the price they're asking to publish a 41 page, 12x12 book. ($123, I think! Yikes!)
I'd like to upload my pages or my project to Shutterfly, since I know they're prices aren't so steep. I tried to do this and am completely lost. Can someone walk me through it, or point me to a post that explains the process for someone who is clueless?
Thanks!!

I'm not sure what post but it is in this thread somewhere. Basically save as (best quality) jpegs and upload to Shutterfly. Maybe someone else can help more if you still need help.

On other news......Is it September 1st yet? :woohoo:

Can you print anything on the Inside Cover or is it just a place holder so you won't get your pages confused? When I right click on it, it says 'Open', but nothing happens when I click on 'Open.'

It doens't really matter, I just thought I would throw a quote on there if I could.

As for the other news that has had this board hopping for the last couple of days . . . I am SO glad we will be able to round corners easier! I did it using the Tools Cutters, but it was so tedious and I'm still not sure if all the corners 'match.'

Thanks,
Rae

Um...so I save each page as a jpeg? Dumb question, but does it matter where I save it to? Like, desktop or my pictures?

I'll keep looking through this thread to see if someone has posted detailed instructions.
:hippie:

Rae,

The inside cover sheet is always plain old white, and the same goes for the back. Since they are the pages that are adhered to the cover, they don't want anything to go wrong with them, I guess.

It does not matter where you save them--it is whatever works best for you. I usually just set up a folder on my desktop and call it whatever that particular storybook is called so it is quick and easy to locate when you are ready to upload to shutterfly.

One note though: although shutterfly does do a fine job of printing the actual pages you will have to play with your cover on shutterfly. It does not read the SBC+ format for covers the same so whatever you have designed for your cover will only populate either the front or the back but not both. I have found if you save two copies of your cover in the folder you are uploading from then you put one in the front cover space and one on the back cover space and just adjust as necessary to get them where you want. I hope that makes sense! If you run into any questions/problems feel free to aks and I will do my best to help you out.:)

That's fine, just thought I would check. Thank you!!

Good Evening All!
For those of you lucky CMC's who are already playing with 3.0...
I have figured out the paper tear(cool), and the text to a shape, the rounding of the corners. Trying desperately to double mat. Anyone figure this one out?

Shannon (and everyone else!),

Here's what you do.
Select your photo.
Go to the Frames section of the Format Photos tab.
Click on the Select icon (in the middle), then from the pull-down screen choose Frames
You'll now see your choice of mats & frames to select. Just remember that whatever selection you make, it will fill the dimensions of your original photo, thereby making the photo smaller.

Now here's the fun part. Right click on the mat/frame, and choose Edit Frame Effects. From here you can edit the look of each mat by choosing which color, paper, or gradient fill you want.

I haven't played around with it to much, but it does look like fun!

Let me know if you have more quesitons.

On another note, I've also been playing with the text paths. Doing a circle or curved line is relatively simple, but I'm still trying to figure out how to get a square. I'll let you all know when I figure it out.

I've been doing a bit of playing around with the text paths. Here's a very simple one that I did:

When you first make a path, everything is curved. After you set your points, you can edit them at will afterwards - which is wonderful. To make the line straight you right-click on the spot and select "straight". There's still more with how to edit the path, but I'm still working on it. Baby steps, huh?

Very cool! I'll have to get the update and start playing with SBC+. I haven't used it much since I got it for Christmas. I got way back into the paper scrapping.

OMG, that looks awesome! I can't wait until the 15th!! :cool1:

Oh my gosh! I have to tell you this!!

It may not seem like a big deal to some, but this is awesome! I went to do a custom rotation on a scanned photo (because we all know they don't ever scan in straight!), and when I clicked on the rotation icon, A GRID CAME UP OVER THE PHOTO!!!

No more trying to maneuver that line over the pic to see if it's straight. Now you move the pic so it lines up with the grid.

I'm so happy!
