Who here is not in the "clique" like me? Part 4

Lesa - thank goodness your carpet turned out OK! With everything else, you just didn't need that problem, too!

Pozey - get lots of sleep tonight, drive carefully, and most importantly, ENJOY YOUR TRIP!! (oh, and take lots of pictures...)

Lyzziesmom - so I went and read thru that thread - boy was she just a little wack! But you know, I was thinking about it, and have you had your thyroid function checked? I can't remember if we've talked about that or not. The small appetite and what appears to be a slow metabolism... I mean, I'm not a doctor, but I am a mother, and aren't mothers pretty much just amateur doctors without the title, medical degree, and massive paycheck?

Hi everyone! Happy Friday!

I'm pretty sad because my Grandma and Great Aunt left already! They came in yesterday and we went out to dinner at Famous Dave's and then took a drive around DC so they could see the sights. (It was too late to go into any of the museums.) It was so nice- at Famous Dave's the manager heard that it was my Grandma and Aunt's first time so they came over and gave them a little packet with bumper stickers, magnets, etc. and a little bottle of BBQ sauce!

Then today we went to the Civil War battlefield sites (the battle of Bull Run was in Manassas.) Then we had a nice lunch at Logan's and my Grandma and I got a pedicure :cloud9: It was a really nice day.

Lyzziesmom, I have to say I read that thread about the food portions and I really admire you! It is amazing how you can be so comfortable with your body and weight. I wish I was like that- I am working on it.

Lesa- I'm glad the carpet looks better than you thought!! Having all those workers in your house this week must have been a nightmare. You really deserve your vacation!

Michele- love the pictures of Baby Lilly! She is getting so big.

Pozey- have a GREAT vacation!! Take lots of pics- (I know you will!!)

Here are some pics. (I am still uploading and going through the rest.) I'm alittle embarassed because there are some REALLY good photographers on this thread! But I'll share them anyways.

Ruby was really excited about seeing my Grandma:rotfl:

This picture is just funny. At Logan's they have these big buckets of peanuts and you are supposed to throw the shells on the floor. My Aunt Mary just couldn't do it and after some coercing she did (after making sure nobody was looking!) and I had to take a picture so I could have some photographic evidence. :rotfl: She is very 'Type A' personality- a high school Math teacher if that helps you to imagine her!

BIG YUCK!!!

YUCK!

is that better?

I mean, I'm not a doctor, but I am a mother, and aren't mothers pretty much just amateur doctors without the title, medical degree, and massive paycheck?

Ain't that the truth! :lmao: Yes, I've had my thyroid checked and all kinds of testing done. I guess I'm just not meant to be a skinny minnie. Oh well.

Lyzziesmom, I have to say I read that thread about the food portions and I really admire you! It is amazing how you can be so comfortable with your body and weight. I wish I was like that- I am working on it.

I have to admit - I'm still working on it too. There are days when I just think, well this is who I am and if anyone doesn't like it, too bad! Then I have some days when nothing fits, and especially if I happen to glimpse myself unclothed I get very depressed. Some days I'm just in denial. But I try to do the best I can with what I've got. If I can't change it (and believe me, I've tried!) I might as well learn to live with it.

The look on her face here is priceless, it's like she's thinking "I can't believe what I am doing!!" And I really like the picture of your cat with your grandma, that's so cute!

Ashley - sorry to hear your guests have left... it looks like you got to do and see a lot while they were there - thanks for the pics!

Lyzziesmom - I totally agree w/ Ashley - you have a great attitude about yourself! Just my personal opinion (disclaimer: I hope I don't, and don't mean to offend anyone, and it's just my opinion, I'm certainly no nutrionist...) but everyone is different. We all have different metabolisms, different activity levels and different habits. The only thing we really can't control is our genes. I have struggled with a few extra pounds, especially over the last few years. For me, now, it's a constant battle, and I'm losing. My sister has struggled for the past 25 years, compounded by a high-fat 'home cookin' diet. As I age, I have been trying to learn to get my size 6 brain to accept my size 14 body. Middle age sucks!! I can only try to make sure I eat relatively healthy, don't overeat, and try not to be too much of a couch potato (my real weakness). However, I refuse to become a societal statistic that is becoming all to common - eating poorly and way too much. Like most people, I'm not blessed with a metabolism that can handle that. I figure as long as I'm not horking down 3 Big Macs or running to the bathroom to throw up the sirloin I just ate, I'm OK. I feel like we all have a responsibility to the only bodies we're given, but at the same time, I'll be dammed if I'm going to pass up on a perfectly cooked filet mignon or a creme brulee every now and then!

DznyFan: I didn't see anything offensive there at all. I'm a little bit too much of a couch potato myself... well more of a computer potato I guess. Oh well, I like my life the way it is! Bring on the creme brulee!! ;)

Ashley, your pictures are great! The picture of your aunt is hysterical!

Lyzziesmom and Nicole, are you reading the family cloth thread or the going green thread? I read both and all I can say is EWW!! Today I learned about Sea Pearls, the Diva Cup, and Family cloth. :scared: I am never going to the budget board again. :sad2:

Amber: I read both of those threads too. (Oh crap, Mom is right. I do have entirely too much free time at work!) Yuck yuck and more yuck!! And people say the Community Board is scary... I think the Budget Board is much more terrifying. Can you imagine going to someone's house and seeing a bucket of pee rags?? I actually went to one of the websites mentioned on the family cloth thread... I feel like I need to go take a long hot shower now. It was horrible, it's like a cult of people who say washing out their own rags makes them more in touch with their body's processes. No thanks, I'd rather it all be a mystery!

I was just telling my mom about this thread. She told me that a few weeks ago my brother went to a friends house for the night. He took a bath and when he was done he let the water out (like normal people do). Well, the mom saw the empty tub and said that they reuse the water (to bathe)!!! :scared: Apparently, everyone in the family uses the same bath water. If that isn't bad enough, they would have used my brothers water had he not emptied the tub. He told my mom that they could have caught his diseases if he had any (he doesn't ;) ) I don't think he wants to go back.

I don't understand people at all. :sad2:

Amber, that's pretty gross! I know in the "olden days" people used to reuse the bathwater, but that was back before they days of running water and indoor plumbing, when Saturday night was bath night. They would start with the dad, then mom and any other adults, and on down through the kids. The littlest ones needed the least water, so they would be last, figuring by that time a lot of the water would be used up or splashed out. Can you imagine how dirty little kids used to be? No wonder people had such big families and many children didn't survive into adulthood, there must have been diseases galore.

hi guys and girls,

It's Friday!!!!----hopefully everyone knows that already.:lmao:

It has been a busy week!!! Not crazy, hectic, just busy, so I am happy it is the weekend, even though my weekend is packed with plans and I have a meeting/class Monday morning-------on my DAY OFF.:scared1: It is mandatory that we attend. To be fair, I've known about it for quite a while, I suppose I just thought it would never come.:lmao:

I haven't read anything for the week----you chatty bunch----- but just wanted to stop in and tell MICHELE, LESA, MAUREEN and their families to have a WONDERFUL trip to WDW!!!!!! Have lots of fun and relax!!!! I wish I could have made our "talked about three times, then dropped" family trip come to fruition------then I could have met up with you to say hello. Have fun anyway!!!:rotfl:

And Pozey-----have a great trip to the Grand Canyon!!!

DznyFan----thank you so much for the postcard!!! What a surprise yesterday when I got my mail. I really want to go now, but who doesn't?? SIGH.

hello to everyone and hope you all have a good night.

Hi 2x!!

When I was home for lunch today, I suggested that the girls make koolaid and put it in our popsicle molds to make some koolaid pops, then they would be ready for a before-bedtime snack. They decided on blue sour raspberry. (Ick!)

So of course I sent them outside a little while ago with their popsicles and used that time to DIS quietly in peace, among other things. I heard much squealing and giggling but didn't think much of it, as long as they were happy sounds. Lyzzie came in and immediately went to put on her PJs. I went to bring Emma in and found this:

She was so nice as to give me the back view:

And then when I asked her what happened, she gave me the "Huh? I have no idea what you're talking about!" face:

I couldn't help but laugh.

I can't believe I'm up at this unGodly hour. oh, well.

Lyzziesmom - first of all... :lmao: ! I'm glad you found nothing offensive - I didn't want to come off as "know it all". Also it was kind of a 'read between the lines' kind of statement also, and I know elsewhere, it might have been flamed. But, sometimes it seems like you can't even say "the sky is blue" without getting flamed.

2X - it was nice to see you!

I can't believe it's taken a week for some of you to get your postcards! I'm just glad ya'll enjoyed them - I just wanted to share some of the Magic.

Good Morning!!!

I'm sitting here waiting for 7:45 so I can check us in for our flight tomorrow!!

Lesa...you better be up!!

Have a great one!
