pozey: I'm jealous, I've never ridden in a limo! Those kids looked like they were having SO much fun. I always wonder how on earth kids manage to sell that many of anything - I always try to help Lyzzie and we still can't sell more than 3. Of course all her classmates/girlscouts live nearby, so neighbors don't buy, and my coworkers' kids are all selling the same junk too.

Good Morning!

YM- Page 5? We need to get to posting!

Hey Nicole...I might have exaggerated a page or two.:rolleyes1

Donna...thanks for the mickey waffles. I do like my bacon a little crispy but I don't mind if you need to break it so it will fit in the Mickey ear.

Pozey...nice limo pics. Chase lookes like he really enjoyed the limo. I was just thinking how fun that might be for a birthday.

Day 3 – Monday, June 18th

We have plans today……….we are to drive about half an hour to a town called Williams, AZ and catch a passenger train that takes us up to the Grand Canyon. We have to be in Williams at 8:30 for an “Old West Shootout”, and then the train leaves at 9:00.

The Embassy Suites we are staying at has a free breakfast. We had breakfast here yesterday as well. They have one chef who makes cooked to order omelets, pancakes, sausage, hash browns, and bacon. And they have cereal, muffins, and other pastries.

We eat breakfast here each morning we stay. This morning was pretty busy so we had to wait in line for awhile. But the omelets he made were great.

We finish breakfast about 7:45 and get in the van and drive to Williams. We arrive and get our train tickets and walk over to watch the “Shootout”. The characters are very funny. It is a good show.

We now board the train. When I booked it, I had the choice between Coach Class, Club Class, First Class, Dome, and Parlor Class. I booked us in Club Class. The difference between Club and First was $35 per person. We were happy in Club Class. They had free soft drinks and had a bar as well. Our “Cabin Steward” – if you will – was as LOT of fun. He made the trip very enjoyable.

The train ride was about 1 ½ hours to the Canyon. The scenery was nothing spectacular, but nice. We were free to walk back to the “snack car” if we wanted.

Once at the Grand Canyon, we also booked a “Canyon Rim Motorcoach Tour”. As soon as we got off the train, we boarded a Motorcoach and they drove us to one of the lodges at the South Rim for lunch. Lunch was a buffet that was very average. Our 2nd (and LAST) disappointing meals. Not that it was horrible, just kind of average – even for a buffet.

Okay………NOW we get to go see the Canyon!!! We’ve been in Arizona for a day and a half now and we still haven’t walked up to the edge yet. Until now……..

You’ve heard all the stories about how awe-inspiring it is when you see it for the first time. Well, the stories are true. What a spectacular sight to see. Truly amazing. It simply made me say “Wow.”

The motorcoach tour took us around the rim to different points that “regular” vehicles are not allowed. You can hike to them, you just can’t drive. At each point, we were allowed off the bus and had about 20 – 30 minutes at each destination.

The motorcoach took us back to the train station where we had about 45 minutes of free time before we had to board the train for the return trip back to Williams. We walked up to the El Tovar Lodge – which is the “Main” Grand Canyon Lodge on the South Rim. It sits right on the edge. Some rooms have Grand Canyon views. We walked through the shops and bought a few souvenirs.

We had to board the train at 3:45 and the train left at 4:00. This time we had an old time Steam Engine. It was cool. On the trip to the GC, we had a Diesel Engine.

We arrive back in Williams about 5:30 pm and shopped in the Gift Shop there. Took a few pictures and then left to go back to Flagstaff.

Back in Flagstaff about 7:00, we decide to go look for a place for dinner. I remembered the guy at the Front Desk at the Embassy Suites recommending a place called “Black Bart’s”. So, we go looking for it.

We find it and really don’t know what to expect. It’s called Black Bart’s Restaurant and Saloon. We are hoping that it is family friendly. And was it ever!!!

It was a steak house with entertainment. The wait staff sing and dance and are the entertainment. All the waiters and waitresses are music or theater majors from Northern Arizona University. They sing solos and group songs. I thought it was cool that the waiters/waitresses were from the local college.

We had a fantastic meal!! What a change from our previous 2 meals. The waiters/waitresses/singers were fun!! And the food was good. The only disappointment was that I did not bring my camera and take pictures.

After dinner we went back to the hotel for our last night in Flagstaff. Tomorrow we are driving the long drive to the North Rim of the Canyon.

Pozey - what an exciting evening in the Pozey household! It sounds like your 3rd day was lovely! The pics are just beautiful.

Thank you.

The Grand Canyon is very difficult to photograph. Especially during the middle part of the day. The sun and the air really wash out the bright colors of the canyon walls. Early morning and sunset really brings out the colors.

pozey: That Black Bart's restaurant sounds like a lot of fun! The train ride looks like a good time too. I've never been to the Grand Canyon - my parents went once but I had to work, and never really had much interest in it anyway. (I know I know, bad American!) But your report makes me realize there is so much more to do than just stand at the edge and look down. I'd always imagined driving all that way to look in, say, "Wow look, yup there it is," then turn around and drive home. I'm excited to hear what you guys did next!

I'm a bad American too! In 2003, my aunt and uncle offered to take me there since we were going to be in Las Vegas anyways. I said no, I wanted to gamble for my 21st birthday, not see the Grand Canyon! Now I regret it, seeing how beautiful Pozey's pictures are. I'll have to go there now.

Hey Hey Hey everybody:banana: I'm back. Cedar Point was a blast yesterday. It was my first time riding Millenium Force, Maverick and Top Thrill Dragster:cheer2: :woohoo: :yay: :cool1: OMG they were so awesome!!! Top Thrill Dragster goes 120 mph!!! It is incredible!!!! Millenium Force was the best coaster I've ever rode in my life!!!!! Raptor is still one of my favorites...but wow what a fun day. I can't wait to upload my pix. Kenny had a blast. Mike took him all over Kiddie Kingdom and Camp Snoopy most of the day while I ran from ride to ride and checked in w/them here and there... I didn't plan on doing that, but Mike made me:rolleyes1 he kept telling me...we're here, go ride! OOOOK ;) Maverick had a 1 hour wait right at opening, then Millenium had a 1 hr wait as well... Dragster was 15 minutes, Raptor was 15 minutes and literally everything else you could just walk on!:woohoo: it was a great day to be at the park! I'll post some pix when I get them downloaded later. It was awesome!!! If you like coasters.... you have to come up for a visit:cheer2:

lyzziesmom...poor Emma:guilty: I'm glad she wasn't upset about it long term, but I'm with you...I would still be upset too....

Nicole...MVMCP:woohoo: :cheer2: :yay: you'll love it!!! Yay!!!

Donna... oh thank you so much... I'm so excited to stay at the Poly:woohoo: I was good and haven't told Mike either.

Underdog... well thank you.. one of these days, I would love to do that on the side.

Hey there Ashley, I hope you get feeling better soon:grouphug:

I hope I didn't forget anyone... I hope everyone is having a great day. Still trying to catch up from yesterday...

Yes TGM is a great tool too ;)!!!

Linda I'm glad you had fun at Cedar Point. - love the Millnium!! -Every time I ride the Raptor I get unbelievably dizzy after.

Matt had surfing lessons this morning...he had a ball. No other kids from VB signed up so it was a private lesson.

They took him to Fort Pierce state park. We waited about an hour then drove down to watch him and take pictures. It is a great park,

We are heading back to the beach now

Have a great one

Hi Michele! Private surfing lessons, how fun for Matt. How did he do?

Linda: Sounds like you had a great day! I strongly dislike (as Lyzzie would say) riding alone, but there are some rides that I'd rather do alone than not at all. For me 1/2 the fun is the waiting in line with everyone else -- as long as the lines are not too long & hot, that is. ;) Glad you had fun! I definitely have to make it up there one of these days. Probably next year, I'll get the Cedar Faire Maxx pass on my Worlds of Fun ticket so then I'll HAVE to go! Yeah, that's the ticket!

So I'm all spiffied up for the owner's visit today, and he arrived while I was at lunch and probably won't make it back downstairs all day. I'm all uncomfy for nothing! And he's here tomorrow too... dang, gotta come up with another nice-looking, itchyscratchy outfit.

Hey there Michele :)! Yes, Millenium was incredible! I'm ready to go back and ride that one again:banana:

oh yes... you'll have to get that ticket to come up here and ride at CP!!
it wasn't too bad waiting alone...I always get to talking to other people and it goes by pretty quick. It is much better w/people I know...but... yes it's better than not riding at all. I really wish they'd get a clue and have single rider lanes and fastpasses:sad2: . They use to give hand stamps like a fastpass that told you what time to come back and they quit doing it:rolleyes:

You'll love it! Good luck w/the outfit for tomorrow ;)

Linda- Sounds like you had a great time riding the rides! I can't wait to see the pics!

Hi Michelle! That's awesome that Matt got private surfing lessons!

Linda - you rode Top Thrill Dragster?????? :scared1: :faint:

I'm not worthy.
:rotfl2: let me tell you...I had NO plans of riding it EVER!!! But:rolleyes1 Mike kept telling me I should and Kenny started in that he wanted to watch me ride it and see if I'd get scared ;) so I said, what the heck, it only lasts 17 seconds...I can do it:rotfl: it was awesome!!! I rarely scream on a coaster, but on THAT...I screamed my head off:lmao: it was a blast..and for only a 15 minute wait...even better. Last time I was there, it was over 3 hour wait:eek:

Nicole..it's killing me b/c I have the card sitting in front of me and I forgot my card reader:guilty: I want to see them so bad!! Kenny on the kiddie coasters:cloud9: w/his hands in the air of coarse ;)

pozey, your report is great. Someday, we want to drive cross country and see the Grand Canyon (on our way to Disneyland ;) ). Your pictures are beautiful.

Linda, you are a brave woman. There is no way I would ride Top Thrill Dragster, ever. If Mike and I ever get out to Cedar Point (next year maybe) you will have to join us. You and Mike can ride together and I will sit safely on the ground. :)
