Good morning cliqueless friends.

Amber I will be keeping you and your mom in my thoughts and prayers. I liked TGM too!

Hey Pozey...welcome home. It's supposed to rain today.:rolleyes1 Sounds like you had a very nice trip...love the pictures.

Yeah!! Nicole is going to MVMCP...what night? We haven't bought tickets yet. We might just decide to crash Linda, Mike and Kenny's party and go on the 18th???:dance3:

Donna...thanks for the delicious pancakes.

DznyFan...I think we are under a flood watch and it hasn't even started raining? I guess they are expecting some big rainfall totals.

Thanks for the well wishes for DS...he did sleep well last night so that will help out! Hope everyone has a nice day.:)

Hi 2x2! So nice to see our Pin-cess again! I can totally relate to the computer nausea. Believe it or not, I have days when I just don't want to look at the darn thing, especially if my meds have been adjusted. It can give you a sort of vertigo feeling, ick. Hope you get to feeling better soon so we can see more of you!

YM: Glad your DS doesn't have an infection - I hope he feels better soon. It always stinks to be a kid and "waste" your summer vacation not feeling well.

Oh my Amber, I sure hope your mom is ok. Biopsies are so scary! I wish her the best, hopefully it's nothing serious.

Nicole: Yay! You get to go to MVCMP!! Have one of those free cookies for me, will ya? I was also wondering about TGM. Looked around the site the other day and it seems like there is a ton of info on there, I'm just not sure if it's info I couldn't get elsewhere for free. I was thinking of trying it out but I've already got my days planned, and during Labor Day week the crowds are so low I don't think it makes much difference which park you go to, so I probably wouldn't use that part. I just don't know if the rest of the info is worth the $$.

I like TGM if just for planning the "best days" to go to each park. He does have some good tips on other things. There is a TON of info though and can take a while to read through it all. He does have a money back guarantee. I have a $4 off code somewhere; I'll look for it.

What is the regular TGM price? If you can find that $4 off code, I might check it out myself. I'm always looking for more tried & true tips! Not that anyone in my family will listen to me, but at least that way I can say "I told you so." :thumbsup2

pozey: GREAT pictures once again! I love the story about Courtney not wanting to go until it's too late. That sounds so familiar.

Emma survived her dental work this morning, but it was so hard for me to watch. Even with the Valium (which had NO effect on her at all) and the restraints, she put up quite a fight and had to be further restrained. She screamed the whole time until she was hoarse, and then began to choke herself trying to scream some more. My mom could hear her out in the waiting room, and they had us in a back room with the door shut. They got the work done as quickly as possible and I held her hand inside the restraint the whole time - man can that girl squeeze! At one point she cried, "I'll brush my teeth! I will!" The poor kid. She was happy after though, and said her mouth doesn't hurt anymore and happily showed off her fixed teeth. I took the girls and my mom to Denny's after for breakfast before heading back to work. I'm still pretty shaken up, I have never heard Emma scream like that and it was so bad, but she is over it and hopefully we won't have to go through this again for a very long time.

The owner of my company is coming in tomorrow, and I've never met him but I've heard he's a neat freak and has been in a bad mood, so I've got some serious desk cleaning to do today. I have no idea where I'm going to stash everything because my drawers are already full! But it's only for two days -- I just hope I can find enough to keep busy while he's here!

lyzziesmom.........my heart just breaks hearing about Emma's dentist ordeal. I'm glad she survived though.

:grouphug: to Emma.

lyzziesmoms...I'm so sorry.:grouphug: I'm glad you were able to be with her. Nice to hear she was happy after. Give her an extra hug from me:hug: :flower3:

It's normall $21.95. You can use it up until 60 days after your vacation. If you don't know when you are going, then you just put in a generic date (if you don't plan on going for a couple years, you can still get it. Just put in Sept 2010).

Poor Emma. At least it's over with. :grouphug:

Lyzziesmom - oh, poor Emma, and poor you! Just reading that post was so sad - but I am glad everything turned out OK with her.

Pozey - great pictures!

Thanks for the info! If I put in a "generic" date, will it still show info for earlier dates to help with planning trips, or if I wanted to use it longer like for my September trip and to plan an unknown future trip? I don't want to buy it and then find out I can't use it the way I'd like to.

pozey: More great pictures! Chase looks so much like you, and Courtney is getting so big! It's amazing to see them grow right before our eyes - I feel like I know them all.

Thank you, and everyone else too for the well wishes for Emma. I really think it was harder for me than it was for her. She did have a hard time, but she got over it a lot faster than I did. I played brave for her though! I really never thought I would have a "devil child" but she certainly was one this morning, poor kid! I could not even find the words to describe how awful it was, I'm just so glad it's over. Now I have to skip lunch today to make up for being late to work this morning, but it was worth it to see her calmed down and happy at breakfast. My mom thought I was crazy not to just go back to work this morning and advised me to just go in even though they weren't expecting me -- this coming from the woman who has not had a full-time job since college, and never an office job.

Yes. You are able to access everything on the website, no matter what date your trip is for.

The code is HE7KE-8HA If for some reason it doesn't work, then go to the Theme Parks board and click the banner at the top. It will give you a $3.00 discount.

It is a TON of info to read through. Some of it stuff you can find elsewhere, but a lot isn't. There are also forums there and you can get a lot of help.

He doesn't give actual touring plans customized for your group, but he does have sample plans (they work great; I just omit the stuff I don't want to do). He also gives the reasons for doing things, so you know why he tells you to go to POTC and not HM.

Plus, he has a money back guarantee. If you hate the service (even after your vacation) you can get a refund.

If you have any questions, let me know.

Day 2 – Sunday, June 17th (Part 2)

So, it is about 1:00 pm by now as we head back down the mountain. Again, we have no plans at all for today, so we are just winging it. I ask everyone if they would want to drive to Sedona. I had heard that it was a pretty town and we could drive there and have a late lunch/early dinner. I said it was probably about an hour’s drive away. Everyone was fine with that. So, off we drove toward Sedona, Arizona.

Not knowing what to expect driving from Flagstaff to Sedona, we were extremely surprised by the drive. Leaving Flagstaff, we enter Coconino National Forest. Flagstaff kind of sits at the bottom of the mountains we went up earlier in the day.

As we enter Coconino National Forest, the scenery is absolutely gorgeous!! Twisting, turning roads, with creeks running alongside the road. Trees, rocks…….I really can’t describe it. And then you come into Sedona with all these red canyon walls all around the town. It was a beautiful setting.

We were very lucky when we came into town. Just as we were driving up, a car pulls out of a parking spot right on the street, so we pull in. And as fate (and remember, fate isn’t always kind) would have it, the parking spot was directly in front of Oaxaca Mexican Restaurant. Well, we were all kind of hungry, and Mexican food is our favorite…….so we went right in. I’m guessing it is about 3:30 in the afternoon now, so the place was busy, but certainly not packed.

We ask for a table for 5, and we had to wait about 10 minutes for a table. All the while watching them seat parties of 4 or less immediately. So, they take us to the upstairs “patio” type section of the restaurant – which had a fantastic view.

GC1116.jpg

We were given chips and salsa and a glass of water for each of us. We perused the menu and made our choices. Now we just needed a waiter……. So, we waited…..and waited……and waited. After about 10 minutes, I decided to go tell someone we had not been waited on. Finally someone came over and took our drink order. I said we are ready to order as well. So we ordered our food.

Well, let me tell you about the salsa……….it was probably the worst salsa I’ve ever had. No taste. None. And they gave us 1 little cup for the entire table.

Our drinks came after a few minutes. And our food came a short time later. Now, by the time our food arrived, my drink glass was empty, as was DW’s. Chase and Colton had just a little left in theirs. But did the waiter offer to refill them?? Nope. I tried to flag him down, but he never looked our way.

Now, on to the food………it was horrendous. The worst tasting food I’ve EVER had. EVER. And everyone at the table said the same thing. Colton – who will eat just about anything – took 2 bites and said he could not eat any more. And all he had was a cheese enchilada. Chase choked down about ½ of his cheese enchilada. I took a few bites of mine, but that’s all I could stand. And by this time, everyone’s drink glasses were empty, and the waiter had never returned.

Finally, DW said she was leaving. She had had enough. She and the kids went outside while I tried to find the waiter to pay the bill. It took me a good 5 – 7 minutes to flag someone down to ask for our check. The waiter never said anything about drinks or the food or anything. I paid the bill and left. In hindsight, I probably should have asked for a manager, but I just wanted to leave. I would have to say that was the WORST dining experience I had ever had.

After that, we went up and down the street going through the little shops. Most of the stuff was pretty cool, but way overpriced. I think we may have gotten a couple of things, but just little things.

All over town, they had these cool statures and sculptures and stuff. Some were painted and some carved. They were very pretty.

All in all, our trip to Sedona was worth it for the scenery, but we were SO disappointed with our meal. And the drive back to Flagstaff was just as beautiful. Especially since the sun was beginning to set.

We arrive back at the Embassy Suites in Flagstaff and the boys want to go swimming. So, they head to the pool for a swim. DW, Courts, and I just relax a bit. I know we will all be hungry shortly, but DW just wants me to go get something and bring it back to the room. So, I run up the road to Dairy Queen for burgers, fries, and ice cream.

We settle in knowing that tomorrow we will finally see the Grand Canyon in all its glory.

About 10:00 pm DW looks over at me and says…….”Oh…..Happy Father’s Day. I almost forgot.” :rotfl2:

pozey: I'm loving your trip report! Sorry you had such a horrible meal... and to drive all that way for it too. At least the rest of the day was good. Those painted statues remind me of the little figurines they have in "fake" Mexico in Epcot. I love those, but never buy any because they just don't go with my decor. We always have to stop and watch the lady painting them, it's amazing. Anyway... too funny about Mrs. Pozey almost forgetting Father's Day, good thing she remembered at the 11th hour! Keep it coming!
