This is the first I've heard of the Tigger shirts. I'm also curious as to what they look like. Do we all need to get some Tigger shirts in the next 2 weeks?? Good idea though!

there is a thread ...would you wear a "I support Tigger" shirt to wdw...we'd have to make them ourselves...but just a t-shirt and an iron on.... wonder what the response of the CM's would be. Think they'd get a kick out of it? That might be funny! esp. a pix w/Tigger:scratchin

HI everyone!!

Well it was back to school today:sad2: The good news is that it is a short week. No school Monday and a half day on Friday. Matt has it better...tomorrrow the whole school is going on a field trip to the Auto Show.:confused3 Then he has half days Thursday and Friday. It is mid-term week.

I'm so mad right now. He had his first mid-terms today. They lengthen the class to 90 minutes and have 2 tests a day. I checked with the principal 2 weeks ago to see if he was going to be able to use his notes on the tests. It is in his 504 but I've never been through this with mid-terms. She said YES so I e-mailed all of his teachers her response so there would be no question. He spent the whole weekend getting his notes in order, typing them so he could read them clearly, the works. Well he went to take his Health test and the teacher was collecting their binders to grade before the test. He tells her that he will give her the binder when he turns in the test since he needs his notes. She says he can't use his notes. He finally stands up for himself and says 'Yes I can' She says no, that he has a modified test that is shorter but he can't use his notes!! Well I wish she had told him that was her plan and he would have studied harder. He didn't try to memorize anything since he 'knew' he would have his notes!! I am thinking of sending an email to the teacher and the principal...what do you guys think?? Am I over-reacting??? He got his grade already....he got a 75% He could have done much better if he was able to use his notes like he thought, or if he had known to study the info.

The good news for today... his basketball team WON!!:cheer2: They beat the other team by over 20 points. Matt had 12 points!!

I got Lesa's ME documents yesterday and mailed them to her today...Lesa you should have them soon. Does anyone have times on theirs for pick-up? I swear when we went in Aug did. We were supposed to use ME but then Blake panicked at the thought of not having a car and rented one. But I thought that our documents had the time we were being picked up on it. The one I got didn't and the one for Lesa that was sent here didn't either. Am I imagining it??

Man has winter arrived!! It is soo cold!! Actually it is what passes for normal around here but we have been so spoiled this year that it feels even colder. All the trees are covered in ice. It sounds scary outside when the wind blows and all the tree limbs are making cracking sounds.:scared:

Gotta check on dinner check back later:cool2:

Hi everyone!!!

Michele:: That doesn't seem quite right about Matt's Health teacher not letting hom use his notes!! I think I would object to this if I were you!! JMO
My ME documents didn't have a time for pick-up I'm sure. This will be the first time I've used ME, so I have nothing to compare it to. Could it be because of the slower season?? Sorry, I don't know.

I'm fixing supper, too! Better go before I burn something!!!

Michele: I just checked my ME documents and they don't have a time on them. I also checked my ME docs from our May 2006 trip and they didn't have a time on them either, just the date. So I'm pretty sure that's how it's supposed to be!

This may be ignorant, but please explain to me what is this 504 and why does Matt get permission to use his notes for midterms? Again, this may be very ignorant of me, but don't the other kids get jealous that they can't use their notes? I know if it were me, I wouldn't think it was fair that some could use notes and some couldn't. But you are right, if he had permission and all the teachers agreed to it, I don't think they should change the rules at the last minute.

I showed Emma her Princess dress and she seemed very excited, she said, "That's my costume!" So we tried it on and she HATES it!! She kept saying, "It's too small!" (I think she meant too big, which it's not) and she hates the way the sleeves are big and drapey around the wrist. She cried when she looked in the mirror! I sure hope she warms up to it. She hated her Halloween costume at first too, but we kept talking about how she would wear it to get candy and then she liked it just fine when it was time to wear it for real. At least I didn't spend a fortune on the Princess dress. I don't want to be one of those parents who drag their kids around the parks all dolled up against their will!

DznyFan:: How are you doing today?? Hope that extraction isn't bothering you too much.

Linda:: I hope Kenny's class isn't THAT big!!! That's a lot of kids!!
I'm glad you found out about your car!!! The $1500 will probaby be money well spent...your Volvo has a lot of luxuries that might have been hard to live without.:car:

Yolanda:: I think our temps topped about 25 degrees today!! The low tonight is supposed to be around 9!!

2xcited:: Wow!!! Did you find your lease papers??? Did you make a decision on your car?? How you feelin"??
I can't believe your JD didn't win the Golden Globe!!! Who votes on those things anyway? What the...........!!!!!!!!!!
17 more days, Cupcake!!:woohoo: :woohoo:

lyzziesmom:: I can't believe you didn't have heat at work!!! It makes my toes freeze just hearing about it!!!:cold:
I hope Emma warms up to her new Aurora costume.:goodvibes I was looking at those the other day at Walmart. (I don't know why...I don't have a little girl.:confused3 )

pozey:: Your babysitter sounds like such a special young lady and has gone through so much.

Nicole:: The airfare sounds pretty good!!! I won't torture you by begging you to come along....but we wish you could.

YourMajesty:: Do I recall pozey saying that school is out again tomorrow!!! Shall I post some more sugar and caffeine tomorrow??:grouphug:
Your ice picture looks sooo cold!!! Many years ago we had about a foot of snow and then freezing rain.....it was so cool to be able to walk on the snow!! Of course I was a bit lighter then..:rolleyes1
BTW, Nathan just saw your picture posted and said he wanted to go where they had ice, it looked like fun. I'll be sending him UPS, OK?? :teeth:

April:: I'm anxiously awaiting to hear about your haircut horror story!!! Please tell!!! How was your night out??

Linda::[/B] I hope Kenny's class isn't THAT big!!! That's a lot of kids!!

Yeah, there were about 40 kids tonight. That's still quite a bit. We'll see how many last I guess. Kenny did so great tonight. I was really proud of him. Most of the kids are bigger than him (hard not to be) but he tried w/all his might and did awesome! I think it's $ well spent too... even if I drive it another 6 months to a year and then look for something...It does have 230k miles on it now:rolleyes1

Nicole....

Some wine in the making for you ;) Apple, grape, and blackberry!! Yummm.

lyzziesmom...poor Emmaprincess:

Michele... good luck. I'm like lyzziesmom, not sure what 504 is..but sounds like he should have been able to use his notes like planned. He would have been studying instead of making sure his notes were neat if they would have told him ahead of time!:sad2: I think I'd email or speak to the teacher for sure.

Oooh, send some of that blackberry wine this way! That sounds like just the thing to warm me up. It did finally get warm at work... at about 3:00 or so. We go home at 4:30. I'm guessing it's going to be an oven in there tomorrow, but you won't hear me complaining! :)

We watched a little bit of the new American Idol tonight and recorded the rest because the kids go to bed at 7:30. I love the show and it's always funny to see the really horrible ones, but this is getting ridiculous! In the first 1/2 hour, there was not a single good singer. It's like a train wreck, you just gotta see it to believe it.

Speaking of which, I'm going to go watch the last 1/2 hour and then I think a new episode of Dirt is on tonight. I'm starting to really get into that show, despite the overdone s-e-x appeal parts. I was a big fan of Friends and it's neat to see Courteney Cox in such a different kind of role.

Oh guys, I just can't wait until Feb 2!! The weather guy here said we are in for arctic weather until at least mid-Feb, so we could not have picked a more perfect time to go! I just hope it's nice in FL while we are there. When we went on our cruise it was in Jan 2004 and on the way home, it was colder in Miami than it was in KC!

When it's done, I'll send you some! I hear you w/AI...we're watching that and the UK basketball game... Yeah, one of our guys from Ft. Myers, FL called me today just to tell me it's 82 degrees there:sad2: Our house is 76 and I'm cold! Yes...I'm a wimp:rolleyes1 2 more weeks....2 more weeks...we'll be getting ready to head to sunny FLORIDA!!:beach: :sunny: :mickeybar Ahh a Mickey bar will be refreshing!

Oh no! Remember how I was not thrilled with the 'Ohana menu, and I wanted to take Emma to Chef Mickey's and April wanted to come too? I just called Disney Dining and they are booked until 9pm that night!! I guess I will have to think of somewhere else, because I really don't want to pay for a meal I'm not going to eat. Maybe I can try again in a couple days and see if something opens up. I'm so disappointed!!

Tah-Dah!!!!!! I made it back safe and sound, if not delayed a little due to the weather in Dallas.

Welcome back Lin!!!!

We want to hear all about your trip!!!:yay: :yay:

First thanks for checking your ME documents. I wonder what I was thinking of?:confused3

Ok, Matt was diagnosed in late Sept - early Oct as ADHD and with a math disorder. This placed in under the control of the Special Education Dept. 504 is the term used for kids like him, it comes from the code number in the statue that covers SpEd. (I'm pretty sure, someone correct me if I'm wrong) His 504 plan covers any accomodations or modifications that he is allowed in order for him to succeed in spite of his disability. To get the accomodations we had to meet with his doctors to get their opinion in writing. Then we met with the school psychologist and the principal. There is a list of common modifications and we went down the list and decided on the ones that would best suit him. One of the ones that was agreed to was that he would be allowed to use open book/open notes on all tests. This is a fairly common one. In each class the teacher has some leeway in how they want to handle it. In some classes he stays and takes the test with everyone else and no one seems to care. In other classes he is taken out with a para and takes the test in a different room. Whatever works best for that teacher is fine with me.

As I think everyone knows, I work in the Middle School with kids like Matt. I have seen lots of accomodations handled and truely once the other kids understand that so-and-so isn't cheating...they don't even pay attention to it.

I wish I could talk to the principal tomorrow about it, but they are taking almost 400 kids to the Auto Show downtown. I can't figure out what the educational benefit of it is:confused3 but it was only $5 (normally $12) and it gets the kids out of school for the whole day. If I was still in school I would have signed up:rolleyes1

Thanks for your input.

I hope we get to see Emma in her princess dressprincess:

Welcome back Lin! We can't wait to hear all about your trip!

Linda- That grape wine looks good!

Michele- If they were all okay with him using notes, then Matt should have been able to.

Lyzziesmom- Emma doesn't like her dress??? Hopefully she will warm up to it.

Hi Donna!

Hi everyone :upsidedow

Just checking in to say hello. Hope everyone had a nice weekend. Nothing much new here, except the tooth ache I had at Christmas time came back. I'm not sure what to do because the dentist said that nothing is wrong with it. :confused3 I hope its nothing serious. The dentist I go to is in Florida and I dont want to have to find a new one. I know that sounds silly, but I'm VERY senstive when it comes to dentists because I've had some really bad experiences at differene ones. Its weird because when I chew the pain goes away. :confused3 So I've been chewing gum all day!! (not popping it, Pozey :) isn't that you who hates when people pop their gum?)

Got alittle sad last night because I found the Mickey sweatshirt at Wal-mart for $9 but I didn't get it since I'm not going. :sad1: Donna- I saw an extra large. I would be happy to send it to you, if you'd like.

Welcome back, Lin! Tell us everything about the trip.

Hope everyone had a nice Tuesday. I'll talk to you later. :flower3:

Welcome Home Lin! Can't wait to read about your trip. We are all wanting to know what the weather was like? Looked warm for a few days.

Donna...ok...sugar caffeine and one large UPS package on it's way.:rotfl: Nathan would have a blast here. There are tons of boys and a nice big ole creek. Today many of the kids weren't even using a sled...just going down little slops on their belly or backside. I went out tonight with my sister and the side streets were solid ice...we just aren't getting any melting because of the clouds. Tomorrow will be our fifth snow day this year. They add three days into the school calendar so we are now adding on days. The last two years we had a total of ONE snow day.
