Who here is not in the "clique" like me? Part 3

DznyFan: I never read the Narnia books as a kid, so it is my first time as well as Lyzzie's. I didn't think I'd like them until we saw the movie. I think they are planning on making at least one or two more movies, I believe I saw something about one in 2008? But I don't remember which one.

That is such a sweet story about your dad. Too funny about the eye test - you'd think they would notice such a thing!! I have terrible vision which gives me almost no depth perception. That makes driving, especially at night, very difficult. I can't imagine being blind in one eye and still being able to drive!

OK - I've got to share something with you all that I found out today - that is kind of cool, and sad at the same time. Something I never knew about my dad. Dad is older - I came along late in his life (at least for 60's standards), and he's older than most of my peers fathers. Older than some of my friends' grandparents! He's a WWII vet who served in England as an aircraft mechanic. He's alive, healthy, and active. He taught me to water ski when I was 15 and he was in his mid fifties, (HE skiied on that outing!) and he learned to snow ski when he was 72 so he could videotape he grandsons skiing.
Now, you guys know I have made the decision to become certified to scuba dive. I was told ONCE when I was a child, that dad dove. I never really knew anything more than that, and I never asked. I just know I've always loved the water. I sent him an email earlier this week just touching base, letting him know what was up in my life, and I mentioned that I was going to learn to dive. Today, I get an email back from him, telling me that he both skin dived and scuba dived back in the 50's!! (scuba was invented in 1943 - there's some totally useless trivia for you!) He dived to 100 feet, did some ice dives, and as a photographer, shot some underwater stuff - which he claims isn't real good, but he's a digital photographer now, so nothing compares. Anyhoo....... then, later today I get another email from him. It is a scanned newspaper clipping from back in New York state (where he was from) about a drowning accident and recovery at a local farm pond. Note - recovery, NOT rescue. As I read through this OLD article, he was the first recovery diver on the scene and in the water - he changed into his gear in the police car, and made the recovery dive. OMG. I was so in shock and amazed all at the same time. I NEVER KNEW ABOUT THIS - I mean - it was probably somewhere between 2 - 10 years before I was born. I mean, it's a sad story, but I'm so PROUD of him!!

Well, now that I've rambled on and probably bored you all to death - but I had to share. I'm just in awe, and that much more motivated.

Oh - Pozey - I talked to a lady named Loretta today from that school - I really liked her and loved their school's philosophy - I think I've made my decision to have her as my instructor (or at least use that school) I wonder if she's your neighbor?

What a COOL story!!

pozey:: I absolutely loved the picture of you and Mrs. P.!!! I'm trying to imagine you and the Mrs. in 2006........I'm going to have to see a recent picture, I'm just too curious now!!!
We really don't look that much different.........just aged a few years....:rotfl:
My hair isn't quite as blonde as it was, but my hair still gets very light in the summer time.

That......and a pound or two....:confused3 :rotfl:

Hi, pozey!! I went back to view your pic earlier trying to figure out the year. I noticed the year '87 on your t-shirt!! Duh!!! DH and I were married in '88. Were you and Mrs. P. married then?
No, we were dating at the time. We dated for at least 3 years before we were married. Got married on St. Patrick's day 1990. Didn't have Colton until 1996.

We went to Disney many times before we had kids.

I think in that picture was the first time we went to Disney together as a couple.

Well good morning, glory!! You're up and adam on a Saturday morning---at least DISing early on a Saturday.

You got it----a blonde JD it is!!:3dglasses Nahhh, JD is not as pretty as JD sometimes. (but I'll still take him----blush)

Seriously though-----you really do have a lovely family--including you, Master P.
Well, thank you very much 2x2s. That, and the fact that two 13 year old daughters of my buddies have a crush on me, keep my self esteem from dipping too low. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl2:

Yeah.... a blonde JD....
really though - you reminded me of somebody, alas I can't think of who....
I have been told before that I look like two different people........Way back in HS, people used to say I looked like John Denver. Hey.......that's a JD!!! :lmao: :rotfl2:

And then I have also been told that I look like the fisherman Jimmie Houston. In fact, one of Jimmie Houston's fishing buddies introduced me to him a few years back.

Hi, Yolanda!! Sick of the snow, huh? You're living in the wrong place!

Hey, my dad sent me a picture!!
Ice_Diving_4X5.jpg

That's him on the right. :teeth:

(sorry if I'm driving ya'll nuts... I know you guys are like, "geez, will she ever stop??"

How COOL is that!!??!!

DznyFan...Love the story about your dad! The picture is great:thumbsup2

Pozey...congratulations on 1400 posts!!! :cool1:

Lesa, I'm glad the sleepover went fine last night. So David doesn't know that he is subsidising (sp) your trip with his poker money, huh? Matt's buddy is still here, he is scaring me going up and down the stairs on his crutches.

We are watching the International Bowl. We know one of the boys on the Cincinnati team. It is always more fun to watch the games when you know someone playing. Years ago Matt's teacher's son was a co-captain on the Michigan team. They won the Rose Bowl and the National Championship that year. It was fun to watch, now he plays for the Redskins and it is still fun to say, I knew him when:teeth:

Blake and I have to run to Best Buy today. I hate that store...I can always find something I want, but I can never find someone to help me:confused3
We have to take Briana's laptop in to the Geek Squad, the IT guy at Blake's work said he is too busy to work on it. Which is a bummer, I would rather give the money to him. And Blake got me a 'thing' to use to play my iPod on in the car, but there is so much static. I have a really cheap one that works better. I hope they don't give me to much flack about returning it.

.

That's it....you do/did look like John Denver...I kept trying to figure it out:lmao:

That's just TOO cute! :rotfl:

THAT'S who it is!!!! (kiddin' - but can you sing us a song, JD?)

How COOL is that!!??!!
I don't know.... cool? or just crazy?

Michele - good to see you! How's BB going for the boys?

I don't know.... cool? or just crazy?
That reminds me of my oldest brother.....

My oldest brother is quite a bit older than the rest of my brothers. He is 13 years older than me, and 18 years older than my youngest brother. Anyway....he moved back to Florida just as soon as he graduated HS. So, he really wasn't around much when I was a teenager.

Well, he worked as a underwater welder for a long time. He would have to dive and then weld underwater. He worked on a lot of the bridges in and around Tampa.

I am watching the Disney planning DVD with Emma and I was showing her Kenny's picture from Linda's Christmas card and explaining how we will see him at Disney. I told her, "Kenny wants to meet Emma and go on rides with you!" She said, "No! I don't like Kenny!"

I'm pretty sure she'll get over that.

Oh.....I bet she warms up to Kenny pretty quickly. :cool1:

Hi!!! We're back from Nathan's ballgame. Poor guys just struggle so much. Only 4 showed up for practice Thursday night. (Out of 10!) There are a couple of kids on the team that want to be the star. One even tried to take the ball away from Nathan!!:confused3

Lyzziesmom:: I thanked you on the countdown thread for helping me to edit the day count. Just had to go in to "go advanced" and it worked like a charm!!:thumbsup2

DznyFan:: That's a really neat picture of your dad!! Why would we get tired of hearing about such a brave and energetic guy?? Brag away and bring on the stories!!!

Lesa:: Glad to hear you made it through the sleepover and got your closet cleaned out to boot!! Great news about the extra spending $$$:thumbsup2 Way to go girl!!:woohoo:

pozey:: Congratulations on 1400 posts!!:dance3: :dance3:

Well, this day has sucked pretty bad today. My boss had everyone in our department come in to work today from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The reason is that he wanted to get the help desk ticket count down. Well........I DON'T WORK HELP DESK TICKETS!!! NEVER HAVE!!

So....what am I doing??......NOTHING. Well.....DISing..... And it's about 125 degrees in here today. Seriously.....I have done nothing today.

Okay......now that my vent is off my chest.......another story.......

Last night my neighbor's daughter calls. She is a senior in High School and she babysits the kids on occasion. She wanted to come over and play with Courtney. We've known her since she was probably 9 or 10, and she is the girl I took the Senior pictures for.

So, she comes over and she and Courts play for awhile. Then about 8:30, Courtney asks if she could go spend the night with her. Well, after some discussion, we tell Courtney that she can't tonight, but maybe some other time. Well, Courtney starts bawling! She wants to GO!! So, okay.....we tell her she can.

So, she goes and spends the night with her babysitter. :rotfl2: Then today, after they wake up, April, the babysitter, calls and asks if it is alright if she and Courtney go to the park and play. Sure.....but the boys want to go too......so they go to the park and play.

I'm thinking of asking April - the babysitter - if she wants to go eat dinner with us tonight. Our treat. Would you do that? Or would you think that she might be tired of being around the kids all day?

Emma told Lyzzie "Kenny wants see Emma. I don't like Kenny! I no ride with Kenny. I eat Kenny's fries!" At least she has a plan.

pozey: that is so sweet that your babysitter wanted Courtney to spend the night! I always knew Courtney was a special little girl. I would definitely invite the babysitter out to dinner. That is such a thoughtful gesture. Maybe she'd rather go tomorrow night, to have a break from the kids first?

For what it's worth, it sounds like your boss is a little nuts. But heck, if he wants to pay you for coming and doing nothing, that's his problem. Do you at least get overtime?

Ok I'm going to post a few pictures now. First, here are a couple I took just goofing around with the new camera:

Here is one of my new tv:
111_0187.jpg

ETA: The picture of the tv was taken last night at about 10pm, I only had a nightlight on. I didn't do any editing at all. I can't believe how it looks like daylight!! My old camera totally would not have been able to handle that.

Next, I will post a couple "before & afters" of the house.

Here is a picture of Emma pretending to watch fireworks over the castle:

Remember the horribly pink bathroom?

Here is what it looks like now:

I can't find a true "before" picture of the playroom, but here's one of the work in progress:

And here it is now. Please excuse the mess:

This is what the girls' bedroom looked like before we moved in:

Thanks for looking, I just had to show off what I've been doing with my new camera!
