Who here has an 11 yr. old son?

My son is going to be 11 in a few weeks. He's started to notice girls on tv but he's not into classmates yet.

My 11 DS is a sixth grader. He went to a school dance last week and had a "date" - well he (meaning I) bought her ticket. Apparently after that he saw her there and fast danced with her once. He says they "went as friends." I can deal with that.

:thumbsup2

Absolutely. I definitely allow my child to run around with a bunch of hormone crazed, texting middle schoolers. And proud of it. At least I know for sure he isn't a teacup, more like the steaming teapot ready to perk. :rotfl2:

Luckily they are all really good kids, great students, great athletes and great friends. I couldn't ask for a better set of boys to "hang out" with. :goodvibes

Good for you! And what are you trying to say.

Maybe if you weren't so paranoid about your kid you wouldn't have read into my post so much. :rolleyes1

Because what I meant by it, was if your(general your) son hangs around kids who are already into girls, than its natural that your kid may be into them too. All my sons friends are not. They are more focused on sports, and just hanging out.

And I sure wouldn't brag about my kid being a steaming teapot ready to perk at 11 yo. Sheesh! :sad2:

I think your post was very rude and yea I took it personally since you quoted my post when referring, plus calling my son a teacup. Why because he doesn't like girls yet? Thx but I'll delay that as long as I possibly can.

I have an 11DS. He has been girl crazy for a few years now. Last week we get a knock at our door. Not 1 but 2 girls came by to see my boy. I was stunned! These girls with there little cell phone was staring at my child like he was a piece of meat! It really freaked me out. I called Isaiah back into the house and quickly shut the door. I'm not ready for this!

We live across the street from this young girl, she is into sports and she is very pretty....since she was in 4th grade the boys have been hanging around here like flies on crap! They walk up and down pausing in front of her house all day long hoping she will be outside! Once in awhile one gets up the nerve to knock on the door LOL. Its so funny...all the neighbors get a laugh out of the boys!
My daughter has never thought boys were yukky but she has yet to say she is going out with one!! He friend though since 3rd grade has had more boyfriends than 18 year olds I know. She is on the phone with boys all the time- they are 9 now and in 5th grade.

This isn't new at all. When I was in 6th grade there were plenty of "couples" and "dating" and more. I think parents were just more ignorant about it because they didn't hover as much and kids had a lot more freedom.

I know for a fact that I didn't have any interest in boys at 11 and I'm pretty darn sure that the boys still thought girls were "yucky" at that point in time..

Makes me kind of sad that "childhood" is becoming shorter and shorter..:(

I am pretty darn old at this point and I can still remember my first real kiss... I was in 6th gade and it was in the park a few blocks from my house, I was sitting on the swing and that was that LOL. So its not changed all that much..I know by 6th grade most of us were pairing off...its that darn Jr. HIgh school age LOL.
Funny thing is that the park is still there with the swings and my daughter and her friends hang out there now!
