Which walkie talkies do you suggest for WDW? My parents are going in a few weeks and I am sure they could use them should they get separated.

Thanks! :wave2:

What ever brand you get, you should also invest in the headset (like a cellphone hands free unit). This allows you to monitor the radio much easier. If you keep the radio on your belt, you would have to crank-up the volume so you could hear it in the parks -- and then everybody else would hear it too. This is especially anoying when it happens inside an attraction. The headset allows you to listen to the radio no matter where you are.

we use cobras i don't think it's a big deal just get one with lots of channels. so many people have them you may need to switch channels to talk.

I would recommend investing in cell phones instead. We tried to use them but their was way too much air traffic we wound up hearing everone elses conversations. I'm not sure of the brand but I know they weren't cheap.

We have the Cobra 2 mile with x amount of channels & sub codes & they are still worthless in the parks... I stick with my cell phone. We do however get a lot of use out of the walkies when at the resorts..... use when by the pool, food courts, strolling etc.....

Another vote for cell phones. We have a family plan and the minutes calling each other are free.

That made them the ultimate walkie talkies. Make sure you take your battery charger!

We've used our Motorola Talkabouts on our last 3 trips and have never had a problem with others talking. Definitely get the subchannels. We make sure we always turn them off in attractions.

We tried walkie talkies in the past, but cell phones were much better for us this past June. With walkie talkies, we had to keep them on alot of the time. We had four groups so the cell phones were wonderful.

Hi there Frisco. Neighbor I should say.

We don't do walkie talkies, we have Nextel phones. They have the built in two-way. When our group wants to split, we just hand off one of our phones so we can find one another later in the day.

Motorola makes some nice two-way radios. When I say nice, I mean that they work well and they are small enough to carry around without being annoying. I think they come in yellow and blue.

I bought my daught the princess walkie talkies and I heard everyone elses conversation. I would do the cell phones also.::yes::

We did walkie talkies last October and had no problems at all. We had our set channel/subchannel and one alternate in case someone else was on ours. Never really had a problem. Only once was there someone else on and they were speaking a different language so we knew they weren't in our party! We didn't have the option of using cell phones because not all in our party had a cell phone and weren't about to sign up for one just for a ten day vacation! The walkie talkies have been good to use since WDW just at the mall so we can easily regroup after shopping separately!

I used Cobra 8-mile (FRS/GMRS) and had little problem of cross-talk on the GMRS channels. On the FRS channels... fogettaboutid! :D

We used our friends' walkie talkies and I was ready to through them in the lagoon after about 5 minutes of trying to use them. There was one point where I thought I got through to my friend Linda and was having a nice conversation until I realized it was a different Linda! How embarassing!! I don't remember the brand because this was a few years ago. Good luck though!
