My ds5 and I also get very motion sick. Growing up I was always the puker on the merry -go -round at school, on small boats, on airplanes, etc.
I had a prescription patch and brought bonine and motion eaze on our May Eastern Magic cruise. I was only ill one evening (2nd night of cruise) and I blame myself for looking out at the waves a lot. Our room was a category 8 on deck 6 and we were the 4th room from the front. We felt a lot more motion than we did on our midship verandah room on the Wonder the year before (we thought we'd save some $$ and get a porthole this past trip). Our bed faced backwards from the direction we were going and each time I looked outside I felt queasy that day. We went to Palo, which is on the rear of the ship, for brunch that morning and I also kept looking outside and feeling a bit queasy watching the waves (I don't know why I always do it!) I had been wearing my patch since the day before we boarded and still ended up getting sick before dinner. I desperately wanted to go see the show at Animator's Palate, get formal pictures and see the Golden Mickey's. We got dressed and went to get pictures and then went to AP. I sat down in the dining room and the smell of food got to me and I had to leave. Luckily we (DH, DS9, DS5) were cruising with my parents and FIL. My parents had a midship room with a verandah and they gave me their key to go lay down. You couldn't feel the ship's motion there and I spent a good hour on the verandah getting fresh air and then laid down for a couple hours. I took off the patch and tried motion eaze (it really smells funky which didn't help!) and it didnt' seem to help my nausea. I ended up taking bonine the rest of the cruise and was perfectly fine on the Magic. The only other time I felt a bit sick was on the boat to Anguilla to a dolphin encounter. A few people got sick, including my ds5. The next day I gave him half a bonine on our snorkel/beach day to Trunk Bay in St. John and we were all fine. DH, DS9 , my parents and FIL never felt the least bit queasy. Our next trip we are going back to a midship room with a verandah and I'm going to try and not look out at the waves backwards.
