I'm nervous about motion sickness on our upcoming cruise. My husband has been sick on a small boat before, and my dd and I are very prone to car sickness. I've read about Motion Eaze on the internet, and was wondering if it did infact work. I've also read about people using the patch, Bonine, wristbands, ginger pills, etc. I plan to come armed with everything possible! Just wondered specifically who may have tried Motion Eaze. TIA!

I used Bonine on our first cruise. Started taking it 2 days before...used it for the first 2 days of the cruise and then went off with no problems. I also came armed with the wristbands and ginger but never used those.

Why Motion Eaze over Bonine? I've seen lots of good posts about Bonine, but haven't heard a lot about Motion Ease.

What is this about ginger? I get that it is used for motion sickness, but is it a pill? Is it in the vitamin section? How does it work compared to bonine or dramamine?

I cannot help you with the Motion Ease...but I will say as someone that suffers horrible motion issues...I went ARMED...here goes...ginger tabs, ginger oil (for behind the ears), ginger gum, Bonine, Dramamine, Sea Bands, The Relief Explorer Band, and THE PATCH (from my MD)!!!!

DID NOT NEED ONE THING....I REPEAT, DID NOT NEED ANYTHING!!!!!

I started out just with the Relief Band on my wrist..as you can increase the "degrees" on the band if you think you need to....

I took off that Relief Band AFTER the Sail Away Party.

DH & I went on the "Bridge Tour" of the Wonder and Disney has these state-of-the-art STABILIZERS that prevents the ship from rocking and rolling UNLESS of course it is intense storms, like hurricane season.

Now when we went in Feb., we had one night the ship was really rocking. They even closed off one whole side of the ship due to heavy rain and high winds...I still was absolutely FINE. I knew I had all the meds I needed in my cabin...BUT I was fine.

You absolutely can feel the ship moving BUT never so much that I ever once felt sick to my stomach or was nauseous!!!

We also picked a room that was MID SHIP and HIGH on Deck 7!!! I was told prior to booking with any motion issues go mid and high.

Some people get the ginger tablets which are like pills.

I go to the drug store/health food store and get giner candy so the kids can take it also. It is like a chewy jelly substance stuff with a sugary coating. My kids will actually eat it. It has a bit of a kick (ginger is spicy) but the sugar coating makes it seem like a candy. I actually use them when I'm not a cruise....anytime I get an upset belly, chew one of those and it settles my stomache.

I can get sick just from watching the horizon move so I dont want to take any chances. What are these relief bands and where do you get them?

From what I've read, Motion Eaze doesn't cause drowsiness, and is safe for kids. It is an oil that you dab behind the ear, so it would also be easy to give to kids. If it works well, it sounds like a great product. I just don't want to waste my money on it if people have tried it and found it doesn't work. Hoping someone has tried it!!!!

On our first cruise my husband was so sick...he was only able to be at one dinner with me. This time, we did our research because I wasn't going through that again.

He started taking ginger pills about 2 weeks before our trip and continued to take them throughout the cruise. He also wore the patch as an extra precaution. (the patch did not work well alone though on our first cruise)

He was not sick at all and we were on a 7 day cruise this time. The ginger pills were miracle pills. We got it at Hi Health, which is like a GNC. Get the bottle that has the chinese writing on it (I was told that this one was better, probably stronger)

Hope this helps.

I read about them on the Boards prior to my trip. I got it online at DRUGSTORE.com...do a google to get the best price...around $70.00 BUT worth every penny of it.

THE EXPLORER RELIEF BAND it is called. Follow the directions..easy as can be. I liked it because NO DRUGS at all. AND you can take it right off if you do not need it and put it right back on for INSTANT relief. It has settings from like 1-5..1 being low and onward up to 5 for real intense!!!

GOOD LUCK...research it and then decide. :thumbsup2

I bought motion eaze for our May trip. The first night I started to feel a tiny bit queazy at dinner so I used it and was fine after that. That was the only time I needed it the whole trip so I didn't really get to put it to the test. I asked the same question before our trip and got really positive feedback.

where is Motion Ease sold? Drug stores or GNC's?

I haven't looked for it at drugstores, but they do sell it on their web site. Just Google "Motion Eaze" and it will come right up.

Jackie, thanks for your feedback. I'm glad you didn't have to put it to the test! I think I will go ahead and give it a try.

We bought Motion Eaze and brought it on our cruise. We never actually had to use it though. We just used Ginger and dramamine and those kept it off just fine. A definite downside to using motion eaze is that it has a very strong smell. It isn't really a bad smell, just very noticable. Good luck.

My ds5 and I also get very motion sick. Growing up I was always the puker on the merry -go -round at school, on small boats, on airplanes, etc.
I had a prescription patch and brought bonine and motion eaze on our May Eastern Magic cruise. I was only ill one evening (2nd night of cruise) and I blame myself for looking out at the waves a lot. Our room was a category 8 on deck 6 and we were the 4th room from the front. We felt a lot more motion than we did on our midship verandah room on the Wonder the year before (we thought we'd save some $$ and get a porthole this past trip). Our bed faced backwards from the direction we were going and each time I looked outside I felt queasy that day. We went to Palo, which is on the rear of the ship, for brunch that morning and I also kept looking outside and feeling a bit queasy watching the waves (I don't know why I always do it!) I had been wearing my patch since the day before we boarded and still ended up getting sick before dinner. I desperately wanted to go see the show at Animator's Palate, get formal pictures and see the Golden Mickey's. We got dressed and went to get pictures and then went to AP. I sat down in the dining room and the smell of food got to me and I had to leave. Luckily we (DH, DS9, DS5) were cruising with my parents and FIL. My parents had a midship room with a verandah and they gave me their key to go lay down. You couldn't feel the ship's motion there and I spent a good hour on the verandah getting fresh air and then laid down for a couple hours. I took off the patch and tried motion eaze (it really smells funky which didn't help!) and it didnt' seem to help my nausea. I ended up taking bonine the rest of the cruise and was perfectly fine on the Magic. The only other time I felt a bit sick was on the boat to Anguilla to a dolphin encounter. A few people got sick, including my ds5. The next day I gave him half a bonine on our snorkel/beach day to Trunk Bay in St. John and we were all fine. DH, DS9 , my parents and FIL never felt the least bit queasy. Our next trip we are going back to a midship room with a verandah and I'm going to try and not look out at the waves backwards.

Bad smell, huh? That could be a real problem. Smells always bother me when I'm nauseous. Thanks for the warning.

I also am one that feels even sicker with smells when I'm nauseous. There is a definite smell to it. I'd suppose some kind of herbal smell. The smell was still on my finger tip, even after washing a few times with soap and water. When I was packing for the trip home, I had the cap on it tightly and had it in a gallon size zip lock with other OTC tummy meds (didn't need them....they were just in case). Boy was the motion eaze smell strong when I took them out to put them away at home. I ended up throwing it out so I wouldn't have to be reminded of the smell every time I oped up our linen closet in the bathroom.

I bought the motion eaze at Walmart. I was hoping to use it for ds5 in case he was seasick on the Magic. Luckily he was only seasick on a smaller excursion boat in really choppy waters heading from St. Thomas to Anguilla. Once I saw Motion Eaze did nothing for me, I had him take a half a bonine on our next beach/ snorkel excursion to St. John and he was fine.

I will be sure to check with our doctor, but is a half of a bonine the dose for kids? My dd is 7 yo. That would be okay to give her? I assume it would since your ds is even younger. Thanks again for all of the info!

I was wondering the same thing. We'll be traveling with our five year old twin daughters and I was hoping to find something to bring for them just in case, but wasn't sure what was safe for kids that young that wouldn't make them too drowsy.

I got really sick on our last cruise. I tried a lot of things nothing worked. I finally started drinking it took awhile but that worked.
I was planning on trying motioneaze and ginger on our next cruise.
