I only need transportation one-way - from the airport to POP Century and the price is only $17.. I will be arriving in Orlando on April 2 at 5:05 pm..

Are the shuttles more reliable than the other things I 've heard about Mears?

And does anyone know how long it would take to get to POP using the Mears Shuttle?

Thanks!

take a taxi for $40, you will save the headache

i paid for mears in november nad waited and waited and waited...it was so crowded and every bus was filled and it seemed like we were never getting on a bus.

so we grabbed a cab. lost our prepaid mears $80.

I am still upset I coulndt get my mmoney back. they know their service has issues and still choose to be very hard to deal with

avaiod them....and read this board, I am not the only one who feals this way

Most of the people who post on Mears will only post horror stories. I took it about a year ago and it was ok. When it's bad it's worth posting about when it works it's ok but not worth a post praising it.

Figure 1-2 hours to get to your resort. Half hour wait (could be less sometimes more), 20 minutes to WDW and prehaps a few stops before you get to your resort.

For one or two guests, who don't need a grocery stop, don't care if it takes an extra few minutes and are looking to save a few dollars Mears works fine most of the time.

I agree w/this. Most people are going only to post if it is negative. I have taken the Mears for years now and never had a problem. Once it was even fun, we had a shuttle driver who was very knowledgeable with WDW trivia and asked trivia questions the entire trip. My friend was embarrased because I was the only one on the shuttle that knew all the answers. :cool1:
My last trip w/Mears was in Nov. They said it would be a 30 minute wait and I don't think it was any longer than 15 minutes. I was staying at the CSR, and it only made 1 stop before that-Pop.

My mother, dd and myself used Mears for our first trip in '99. It wasn't awful. We lucked out and got put on a van with no wait at all and everyone was going to the same resort, so no other stops. If it were just me going and there was no ME yet, I would most likely take the Mears shuttle again..especially if it was just one-way. With only one person traveling it might not take as long to get a seat.

Do I need to make a reservation for the shuttle? There's a BIG difference between $17 for the shuttle and $55+ for a town car..

Do they go to the resorts (drop off, I mean) in any particular order? I'll be staying at POP - if that makes a difference.. :flower:

I used them with no problem. Actually I think that they are better for the value resorts. There are so many folks going there that they can fill up a van without a lot of stops.

Good Luck!

Do I need to make a reservation? And do I tip this driver as well? :confused3

Pretty sure you don't need a reservation and I think people tip a few dollars IF the driver helps you with your luggage.

One thing in your favor, POP is usually the first stop.

Ahhh.. I was hoping someone would say that! ;)

I've never had any problems with Mears. The service has always been quick and friendly. We used them from MCO to Pop last year during our Easter trip. We had to wait about 10-15 for our bus to come. Once we left the airport, it only took about 30 minutes to get to PC which was the first stop.

My son and I will be using Mears again in 31 days. :cool1:

I just prepaid on-line for my husband who will be coming in to WDW on Thursday night. When I called the guy on the phone said you couldn't pre-pay!?!?! But then I went on-line and booked his seat and paid. You get a thing to print out to use at their Kiosk. I think this just allows you to avoid the extra step of going to the desk and paying there. Now he can just walk out to the shuttle.

Is CBR always first? What about going back to the airport? That is where we are staying.

I've taken Mears 3 out of the 4 times I've gone to WDW as an adult. I consider it a good value because it's just me travelling. I have always arranged my shuttle after arrival, with no reservation. That allowed me to take my time gathering my things and stopping for bio and/or shopping breaks. On the most recent trip, they gave me one of those flashing pagers like they have in restaurants to let me know when my ride was ready. Prior to that, I usually waited on a bench outside, which is just not comfortable in the Florida heat.

I've been on the big busses and the vans. I don't think the waiting and stopping is that unreasonable. I usually tip the driver a couple of dollars for handling my bag.

I tried Mears for the first time in Jan. on first solo trip. Waited maybe five minutes before being put on a van. ASMu was last stop but it only took like 45 minutes to get there from the airport (stopped at 4 other resorts first) & the driver was great.

On the return trip to the airport, I had a very early flight & Mears sent a taxi for me. We went straight to the airport (no other stops) no problems. I just booked Mears this afternoon for another solo trip in May. Go for it. I personally think the savings are worth it.
