I am starting to pack up and get ready for our big move... I have searched the internet and found tons of sights for boxes. Does anyone know who has the cheapest prices???:wave2:

In North Carolina we have ABC liquor stores. They are ten cents a box and work great. It's better to get them at the middle of the month when there aren't so many people moving.

I got to Target by 9 am, and get all kinds of boxes for FREE!

They charge for boxes at the liquor store? I've never heard of that. I always got them for free also.

Here's antoher nice one.. Go to Kinko's and ask for copy boxes. They usually have tons of them.

I don't know what you would consider cheap but when I started packing our house I bought boxes on ebay. I had priced them at the local uhaul and ebay was a bargain compaired to their prices. I actually got 98 boxes for $189. There were 4 different sizes ranging from small to exlarge. It also came with 4 rolls of packing tape, bubble wrap and markers. And best of all the boxes were delivered right to my house. DH works in a retail store and could have taken boxes home every day - I just didn't want to deal with all the odd sizes. I boxed everything up and was able to stack the boxes on top of each other without worry.

Hope this helps!

After I moved, I gave away all of my boxes on craigslist.org

If craigslist has people in your area, you'll probably be able to find boxes :)

Call your local toy store. I got about 60 boxes for FREE from them, just had to pick them up after they unpacked their shipment. They were perfect, all different sizes.

Also... hospitals and doctors offices always have tons of boxes to dispose of. I usually use X-Ray film boxes....they are reinforced and they have handles.

*Go to Target, Walmart, other stores, etc and get the free ones.

*Call moving companies in your area and ask about used boxes. Many of them give away the ones that they collect from people who have just moved to the area.

*If you see someone moving in to a house in your area, stop and introduce yourself, and ask about their boxes.

*Ask family, friends, coworkers if they know of anyone who is moving in and contact them for boxes.

If worse comes to worse, buy dishpack boxes for your china and fragile items. Everything else will generally work in the free boxes that you get.

Use you towels, sheets, blankets, etc to pad fragile items. Newspaper can be used on anything that can be easily washed or wiped off (if the newspaper comes off on it). Socks, underwear, pjs, tshirts also work good for packing material.

Good luck on your move.:sunny: :sunny:

Keep in mind when purchasing boxes for moving they can come in different grades of strength. I found the cheaper boxes from U-Store-It where literally cheaper than the ones from Public Storage in both price and quality. Needless to say since these are your precious possessions maybe cheapest isn't best?

Look into www.freecycle.org.

It's broken down into areas/cities and I've noticed offers of free moving boxes.

Denise < --- would be able to offer moving boxes in Ocala, FL in the next month or so ;)
