Who has stayed at a Grand Villa-are they worth it?

Ah, I wish I could even dream of a Grand Villa......

but I am a lowly BCV owner!!:(

even as a BCV you can generally get a GV - they are only popular part of the year - which is why BCV and VWL don't have them.

I would think you could get one in Sept at either BWV or OKW.

(I am pretty sure) must of the summer.

it is during Dec, and the wine and food festavial in Oct/Nov - that the GV get the most request - or this was what I got told - don't know if it is still true.

but try one.

and if that fails - you could also trade your points for either BWV or OKW - which ever you prefer - okay trading reservations.

The OKW Grand Villas are wonderful. They are perfect for a reunion and since every bedroom has its own bathroom, no one is waiting in line to take a shower and everyone feels a little spoiled. There is even, as mentiioned by a few other members, a bathroom on the first floor, which is great for anyone who may be “bedroom-less”, because they are sleeping on the pull-out couch.

They can be somewhat noisy due to the cathedral ceilings and the hardwood floors. But they are extremely lovely and impressive and are highly recommended!

Once you stay in a Grand Villa you will never want to stay anywhere else.......<Script language='Javascript'>var rndNum = Math.floor(Math.random() * 10000);eval("var CDTDate" + rndNum + " = '07/31/2004 5:00:00 AM EST';");document.writeln("<form name='CDTform" + rndNum + "' action='Javascript:void(0);'>");document.writeln('<font size=2 color=darkblue>big daamm hoouuse :earsgirl: :earsboy: :sunny: :tongue: :smooth:</font><br>');document.writeln("<input type=text value='' size=40 name='WrittenByJamesMVenglarikII'>");document.writeln("</form>");if (theFunction) theFunction += "var d = new Date();";else var theFunction = "var d = new Date();";theFunction += "var c = new Date('" + eval("CDTDate" + rndNum) + "');";theFunction += "var diff = (c - d)/1000;";theFunction += "var days = Math.floor(diff / 86400);";theFunction += "var rem = diff - (days * 86400);";theFunction += "var hours = Math.floor(rem / 3600);";theFunction += "rem = rem - (hours * 3600);";theFunction += "var minutes = Math.floor(rem / 60);";theFunction += "rem = rem - (minutes * 60);";theFunction += "var seconds = Math.floor(rem);";theFunction += "if ((days < 0) | (hours < 0) | (minutes < 0) | (seconds < 0)) ";theFunction += "var out = 'lesgobtchs';";theFunction += "else ";theFunction += "var out = ' ' + days + ' days ' + hours + ' hrs. Actually, I just got reservations for a OKW GV for Jan 16-22 last week. So there is availability within the 7 month window if you have some pixie dust sprinkled your way.

2300 sqft? Larger than my house that I will be selling shortly! It will be nice to see if I can work[/] with 2300.... :)

For me, and I have stayed at the GV, would take the 2bd and studio. At HHI were I normally stay, a GV in the summer is 58 per S-Th. and a 2bd + studio is only 46. Now the GV is very nice, and should be experienced at least once, but I would hate to use up all my future trips for the next few years.

You never know your parents might like the privacy of the studio or Your parents might like to stay with the kids in the 2bd, and you get some privacy in the studio.;)

Today we just booked a standard view 2br and a studio for a long weekend next May at BWV at a point cost of approximately 217 points. the Grand Villa for the same time period was 389 points! ack! the board walk view and bigger central living space was not worth the extra 172 points for our group for this trip. I imagine we will want to try a GV in the future but would probably do it at OKW (which was only 249 for the same period). With our DD, being at the BWV is just way more convenient for us and the grandparents than OKW for this trip.

HI! It's my first post...

I stayed in an OKW GV in 2001 and let me tell you, it was FANTASTIC We felt so decadent with all that space! In fact, it was just four of us in the GV for an entire week! Our friends (also DVC members) had some other guests staying with them in the GV, but the others left the day before we got in. Our friends didn't want to relocate to a two bedroom, so we kept the GV and loved it.

I would recommend them for large groups. 10 people can have a bed and two sleep on the pull-out. The kitchen is bigger, too, and is great if you plan to do a few meals in the room.

I can't wait to stay in the GV at SSR! I toured them in June and they are HUGE! I loved the separate entrance on the second floor. I think it will allow for groups who run on different schedules to do so without disrupting the first floor guests.

The OKWest Grand Villa is very reasonable if you can travel an off month and not stay a weekend. Sun to Thursday (5 nights) last two weeks in August is only 45 points per night or only 225 points for that six day, five night trip. We are planning on doing that in 2006; I'll have 213 points from 2005 to bank and then only need to use only a few of my 2006 points.

I don't think we're going to ask the full 12 people, I'm hoping for 9 or 10 at the most. I want to keep the Living Room sleep free.

the Grand Villas are great. I stayed there at OKW with my big extended family. There is a lot of space and a great meeting place. I think I will stay there again next year. This year I am using 2 2brm and 1 studio.

I have never stayed in a GV, but I would think they are VERY nice indeed from other people.
But I feel the pt difference at BWV is TOO HIGH!
Example:
Summer, 1 week: 2BR=306 points
studio=111
-------------------------
417 points for 12 people

Summer 1 week GV: 800 pts!!!
It is not worth it for almost DOUBLE the points I don't care what it looks like. For the What it's worth column, we just had 7 people in a 2 BR at BWV, and it was fine! The couch bed was nice, and you got the 1 br in the studio, plus another couch bed, and the big bed in the master.
JMHO, but I would not want to NOT go to WDW for 3 years because you used all your points!
I did that for the cruise 1 year, and hated it, so I bought an Add on that year.
