I'm taking my son to NYC at the end of the month, to look at NYU.

I'm not really sure what type of show it is, but I've heard from several people that this would be great to take him to.

So, who has seen it, and did you like it. And finally, can you explain what it is???

And sorry for all the questions, but is it hard to get tickets?

Shouldn't be hard to get tix.:)

It's been out awhile and there are so many references to stuff that they do out in pop culture at large that it may not be as "surprising" as it might've been originally ...

...at any rate...should be a fun night out regardless...good for all ages...don't wear your best outfits...although they do give you poncho-style bib thingies. And go ahead and show up 5 minutes late.:)

We saw them in Vegas and really enjoyed the show. It is difficult to explain what the show is like as it is pretty eclectic. Have fun and take a pair of the ear plugs they hand out as you enter, just in case. It can get pretty loud and you can still hear the show through them. LOL

I saw it in Vegas in February, and to give you a lot of details now would spoil the fun. :)

Just go with an open mind; be prepared to laugh and be amazed and have fun! :teeth:

Also saw the BMG at Vegas. I liked it more than DH but hey - that should let you know which one of us likes to just relax and have some fun. But other posts are right - this is a type of show that you just can't explain - and I do think that each performance is different, depending on the audience. If you don't like wearing ponchos indoors - then don't sit too close to stage.

Thought it was good entertainment - would go again and DH would too (but don't ask him, I just said he would, didn't I) :-)

And, yeah it would be okay to be just a few minutes late.........

We're planning on seeing them when we take the boys to Vegas, this June. :smooth:

We saw BMG in Chicago a few years ago. Hard to explain - I guess you would call it "performance art"?

I bought the tickets as soon as they went on sale - got FIRST ROW CENTER (I had no idea what the show was even about), took my husband and kids and I didn't even tell them where we were going or what it was. At the time, the kids were about 12 and 10 years old. We all loved it!

I have been wanting to go to BMG here in Chicago for years, never get around to it though. Why is that, LOL? Enjoy, Bet, a unique show indeed. Don't see in first few rows though.

Blue Man is Great! The venue in NYC is very small but makes for an unusual yet enjoyable event. We went with my 70 year old mother and our 12 year old daughter and both had a great time. Check out www.blueman.com for info on the show. The first several rows are designated 'poncho section' and some seats have limited viewing. Enjoy!

Great Show! Also saw them in NYC a couple years
ago at a corporate function ... what a hoot.

Very unique ... performance art, lots of drums, and music, and comedy... oh yeah ... and paint... LOL

Don't think you'll be disappointed and you'll remember it
for a good long time.

Definitely worth seeing! Enjoy the show! :D

I have! I saw them at the Charles Theater in Boston. I even got to participate in the show with the "men"...LOL It was a great great show!!

Bet.. Hallie saw this in Boston and loved it... I on the other hand would pass on it.. but it gets rave reviews... :) :) :)

First, and echo for all the previous posters....loved BMG and think your son will, too. Also, I worked at NYU for many years so if I can help with any questions about the school, just PM me.

I just had to chime in on this one (although everyone has given great reviews!)

My fiancé is a certified BMG nut. We've seen the Vegas show twice, the Boston show once (we actually went out there basically just to see the show) and live on their tour once. We'll see them again at the end of May when they go on tour again. My fiancé jokes that he wants a Blue Man wedding!

Go. That's all I can say, go with a fun-loving mind and really immerse yourself in the performance, although don't try to "get it". That just distracts from the experience. Nearly everyone who we've recommended to see it loved it, except those who wanted to find some sort of storyline/plot/understanding. It's just fun, that's all!

We saw them in NYC (and yes, it's a very small theatre) at Christmastime and LOVED them. We thought it was very entertaining. My DS loved it so much he wanted to take his friends there for his birthday party (I don't THINK so!) so they could experience it, too. He even bought the CD. We will definitely see them again some time. It IS very loud though, so be prepared.

This show does sell out even though it's been there a long time. If you know when you're going, get the tickets soon.

Oh yeah, we were a little late and it was no problem seating us. Have fun!

Ya'll are so lucky to get to see them!!!!!!!! I have been a fan for years and if their new tour comes ANYWHERE close to Alabama I'm going!

Saw them in Boston, it was different. Really didn't know what to expect, had not heard of them, got half price tickets so went and enjoyed it.
