We went last year in Aug and made it thru the heat and rain.
I was wondering is it real crowded in July? It would be towards the end of July. Or should we stick with Aug. again? Has it been known to rain alot in July?

We've been in July the last three years, and the year before that Early August. There is no noticable difference between July and August, IMO. Either in weather, crowds, etc. It's basically the same. So, I wouldn't let that deter you from deciding when to go. It rains just as much in July as in August, and it's luck of the draw. We've been in the summer for a while now, and sometimes it rains a lot, last year was a lot of rain. The summer of 2002, it hardly ever rained and the temps were in the mid 80's the entire time we were there. Low humidity as well, it was gorgeous!! That year was an anomalie, so it shows you how varied the weather can even be inthe summer. Anytime at WDW from mid-June to late August, expect high crowds, hot humid weather, and rain.

There's really no difference between the 2 months weather wise or rain wise as they're both our rainy season. Anytime from the end of May on you can expect daily showers, especially during the hot summer months. The only difference you may see in the crowds is that the locals won't be there in August because our kids are back in school!

July = Bigger Crowds, less Rain, still Excruciatingly Hot & Humid

August = Excruciatingly Hot & Humid, more rain plus greater chance of Hurricanes, lower crowds, esp towards the end of the month.

We were there July 20-28 in 2003, and it rained pretty much every day.

Last year, we went down for a weekend at the end of our APs. On July 19, it rained and thunderstormed so hard that we were unable to go to the e-night we planned. It rained again one of our other days but nothing like Friday night.

Of course, both of those were rainy years, too. Before that, we had gone like 5 times in June and never seen any significant rain.

We go every July ( And a lot of other months also... )

Not a big difference in the rain amount between the two months, however, as earlier stated: the crowds thin out later in August.

Good Luck and Enjoy your trip whenever you go!::yes::

Hey! What's wrong with a little rain?

We head for the Parks (in our ponchos) as soon as it looks like rain. Usually we're heading in, as thousands are heading out. My gosh, people ride splash mtn and kali river and complain about the rain. July and Aug are great, DON't WORRY!!

July is fine and not that much rain. Rain appears doing the heat of the day because the sky is so unstable.

If do rain it rain for five minutes total that's it for the rest the day.

I live in the south and work at baseball park we predict rain everyday in the summer because the weather is so unstable.

Hi there!

I've never been in August but I know that the schools in the south start school in early August so the crowds would probably be less. I've been in July and it was hot and crowded! Never planning on going in July again if it can be helped. :D

Hope this helps!

It can be super hot sometimes in June, too. Once we were there for a record heat wave week in early June - 100 degrees every day! It's just the luck of the draw! I sure would love one of the 80 degree August weeks that jel0511 had!!!

We were there for that e-night on July 19, 2003. What a storm!!! Our group of 9 was camped out in Casey's hoping for the storm to pass, not!! My husband HATES storms and was freaking out thinking that someone was going to get struck by lightening. After an hour or so, I ran down to City Hall to ask about getting a refund. We then headed back to WL and got our refund without any trouble. I have been to many e-nights but 6 people in our group hadn't, so I was a little sad that they missed out. Later in our trip, me, my son, my son's best friend and my nephew did another e-night. That time the 3 boys got stuck on Splash Mountain for an hour and a half!! We sure didn't have much luck with e-nights on that trip!! Oh well, we're headed to WDW in July again after our DCL western cruise. There are 3 e-nights during our stay, so hopefully we'll have better luck this time!

we are going for the first time ever in July so thanks to everyone here for there advice at first I was kind of worried with the heat and storms but Im sure we will be ok and have a great time...:Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

I also remember that storm well. We had just finished watching Spectromagic and were debating whether to stay for the fireworks or not. Well, the wind picked up and we litterally RAN to the bus stop. It started pouring right after we got to the bus overhang, but it really didn't help since the rain was coming down sideways!! The bus ride back to BCV was VERY interesting and again, no covering helped, and we got back to the villa completely soaked! We stayed under the awnings the entire time, but it didn't help! For us, since we were heading back, it was funny how hard it was raining, but for those of you in parks........

Both times that we went was in July. In 2000, I remember it being crowded and VERY hot, but then I was not used to the Florida heat. In 2002, it was just as crowded but not quite as hot. We did have a couple of days of rain but it wasn't bad. In fact it kind of made our visit even more memorable. We kept our ponchos handy. If you go when it's raining, take ponchos of your own so that you can distinguish your family from everyone else. We pick ours up from Walmart and buy the same color for everyone in the family. They are the cheapies so we buy two or three so we are prepared.
If you go in July, we'll be there too, July 18-25.

We went once over July 4th, and we're going this year 7/6-7/13. When you guys talk about rain - YES it rains everyday but the day isn't typically a wash-out. We're talking about afternoon hit or miss thunderstroms. Strong ones - big ones - scary ones but nonetheless they don't last all day and they are typical of FL.

The only thing I can say about August is that if you go towards the middle or end of August I think it's less crowded because many of the school systems are back in session. Here in the South they go back to school BY mid-August.

Of course it'll be hot and humid - but hey - that's what the pools are for.

Aloha! I'll be at the Poly sweating out the heat and loving every minute of it.

July is a fine month to go. We went for a week last year (July 5 - 12, 2003) and had a great time. Sure the crowds are fairly heavy, but have you ever heard of a thing called Fastpass? We used those for any ride which we wanted to go on that had a long line, and worked like a charm. Never waited more than 5 minutes for Space Mountain, Splash Mountain or the like!! Did the same thing at Epcot, AK, MGM, too!

Weather is just like any other Florida summer month - hot, hazy and humid. But for the whole week there was 15 minutes of rain - TOTAL!! That's it! If it does rain, duck under something, in a restaurant, or get in line for a ride that's covered. We had NO problems at all with bugs - not a single bug bite for anyone in the family the entire time!

July is fine. Go and have a great time!

I'm glad to hear you got a refund for that July 19 e-night. We were not even able to buy tickets. It was not a good evening. We drove through massive rainstorms, arriving about two hours later than planned. (We did go to Epcot and ride Mission Space first, though). The computers at FW went down right as we were checking in and they couldn't even give us room keys -- a pass key of some kind. Check-in took FOREVER. The cm looked at me like I had three heads when I told him I still wanted to find out about e-night b/c it was still an hour until time for it to start. By the time they got us checked in, we were starved (had planned to eat at MK) and the FW store had closed. We ended up going to the Contemporary fast food place. Definitely, not the evening we had planned.

Thanks for all the replies, still have time to decide cause our trip won't be until 2005.

Will be going with my dad and sister its been ages since they were there. Epcot wasn't even there.
Looking forward to showing them everything.
Maybe we will try July??????::MickeyMo :sunny:
