We are looking to get this and thought I would ask my fave online peeps about it!

My children love it. My husband and I play occasionally. Either with the kids, by ourselves, or with each other.

Just got it for my husband for Christmas. He has a Wii and PS3. I bought the PS version. XBOX is the other choice. The Disney Infinity is for the WiiU so keep that in mind. I went with the PS after recommendations from friends. I got mine at Target, there's a coupon in the big toy catalog they sent out.

My kids have been playing it since we bought in on our WDW trip in August. It has become their favorite game, playing it about 90% of the time that they are playing the Wii.

I just bought the PS3 version for DS12 for Christmas. Is there anything else I need beside the starter pack? DH laughed at me because we don't even have a PS3 yet. I am hoping to snag one of the BF deals. :rotfl2:

We have it, and my son and husband love it. They like this better than Skylanders, which is the only game similar to it. They like that you can play levels, or just play in the toy box and make your own worlds. The only downside is the expense....as the characters are expensive, and you can only get to play certain worlds if you buy a pack with the booster in it.

So how many characters and booster packs do you recommend? I dont want him to open on xmas morning and not have what he needs and/or to miss good deals on characters before xmas and have to pay full price after.

I have purchased this for Christmas. We went with the Xbox360 version over the Wii version because two players can play at the same time if you have multiple characters from the same world. The PS3 version also supports two player mode in the worlds.

We have some friends who have the game and they recommended that we get the starter pack and the companion figurines kit called the "sidekicks pack" which includes 3 figurines. This will allow for immediate two player mode for all three worlds in the starter pack.

If you aren't worried about two player mode, then you are good to go with the starter pack.

I think you can play two player on Wii U too but just not on Wii.

You may be right. We only have the Wii and not the Wii U so I didn't look into that system.

Most likely, there's not one for the Wii model that has been around since 2006, as that console is officially "on its' way out"...

:sad2:

Why would you post this? It would have taken a few seconds to check and see that this is incorrect. Disney Infinity is available for the Wii system. You cannot do online play or do multiplayer in playsets.

So if I get it for the Wii, the only difference is they can't play multiplayer? For some reason, even though we have Xbox 360, my guys seen to prefer the Wii. I'm thinking the game is mostly for my youngest anyway, so the Wii might be okay? And if I do get it for the Wii, knowing they can't do multi player, is just the starter pack enough? Do they need anything else to get it up and running?

For a single player the starter pack is enough (or so I have read as we are new to this too).

We have THREE :goodvibes

Bought for my one DS who has XBOX360. My other DS (huge gamer) thought I was wasting my money. Brought it home and guess who played nonstop the next couple days. So he got one for PS3. Then DD found out and since she's at college she wanted her own, another. But I was able to buy the other two for $55 at a TRUS sale. One DS has most the characters, brother borrows, DD is buying her own.

You might want to grab some of the discs if you catch a good sale and I got them each a "book" to keep the discs in so they aren't getting lost and they know what they have so they can trade with others. If you want to buy additional characters (sales have been happening and expect more) they try to fill out the starter pack "movies" so they have the full "game" for each.

If you have MagicBands from WDW there is also a special Dragon character on them you can download into system.

We have it on the wii also... I think it's called infinity cause there is an infinity amount of money you can spend on it. If you get more than the starter pack, in the beginning focus on getting other characters that go with the starter pack movies (another incredible character, monsters inc character etc.). That way some of the stuff that is in the "playset" portion of the game can be unlocked because you have the right character to unlock it. There are other characters that are not part of a playset (yet) and you can only play with them in toy box mode (think fancy minecraft if your kids play that)... Those characters like Jack Skellington, or the new ladies from Frozen are fun in toy box mode... But we prefer the playset mode which has tasks and a storyline.

And what's really cool, if you buy the wii version and the decide you'd rather have the xbox version... All your characters and discs will work... You'll just need a xbox base instead of the wii base you already bought.

Have fun!

Does anyone have it for the Wii U? If so, can more than one person play at a time? Trying to choose between XBox and WiiU.
