Who has been on CLOMID???

Well...the first round of Clomid went well, but I miscarried (NOT due to the Clomid.) The next round worked as well...uh, very well...ours twins turn 8 on Monday!

It affects everyone differently. It made me crazy--I had nightmares and would even wake up myself (and DH) with my thrashing around. PMS times 100 for me. But, like I said, everyone is different. My sweet babies were worth the short time I had to put up with the side effects. I have friends who have taken it and never had the first side effect (and I'm the only one who ended up with a multiple birth!)

Good luck!!

My RE told me there's an 8% chance for twins taking clomid!! 1% for Triplets!

I took it - I also have PCOS and I had to take progesterone before Clomid to force TOM. Then I did one cycle of the lowest dose of Clomid (50?) and it didn't work. We decided to try it one more month and did. No ovulation according to the ovulation kit so we talked and decided to put off pregnancy for one more year. Two weeks later I took the "just to rule it out" pregnancy test after dreaming all night about positive preg tests and was shocked to see the positive results.

The following September, our miracle baby was born.

I remember feeling very moody and I had some periodic blurry vision too, but nothing I wouldn't go through a million more times to have my beautiful DS. I was exhilarated when I started taking it. My doctor had also given me a prescription for prenatal vitamins at the same time, and it made it all very real. I didn't get scared until my doctor confirmed I was pregnant. I was very excited and scared and in disbelief.

Good luck to you!!!!!

I was on it for two cycles. It didn't work for us (turns out that was a very good thing), but I didn't have any side effects really.

Good luck with it!!!!

I remember clomid. OMG!!! My ovaries would feel like they were ready to explode. I was walking around like I was 9 months pregnant and my bladder was full. DH would ask me why I was walking so slow  Ummm, I don't know...could it be that my ovaries are overstimulated and they are about to burst.

Well because of severe endo, It didn't end up working. I was glad I tried it though and I ended with IUI. Now we have 2 amazing little girls who were adopted and I wouldn't have it any other way.

I do have to add that my friend had her girl and boy off of clomid 50 mg., so it does work. I think it was just that her cycle was way off and that helped her ovulating a bit.

I wanted to mention that studies using Clomid less than 12 cycles does not increase your risk of OVCA.

Good news!:cheer2:

For me:
50mg each pregnancy.

1st time it was one cycle, 2nd time two cycles, 3rd time (twins) 1 cycle.

No side affects for me. Kicked myself because we waited so long.

I was a girl who had 2 or 3 cycles a year. Funny thing is now I'm an every 28 days girl. Crazy.

Yep! Exactly what she said!

Clomid made me crazy. I had wild mood swings. But I'm prone to PMS moodiness anyway. It was like someone said earlier PMSx100.

I got pregnant with triplets on my 3rd cycle of clomid/iui. I don't remember what mg I was on. I miscarried one of the triplets at 10weeks, and now we have twins that will be 7 next month.

Okay, so my doctor told me today that he wants to start me on the Metformin, as well as the 10 days of Prometrium( progesterone) that should induce the period, then days 3-7 of the 100mg of Clomid. Then Progesterone Cream after ovulation.

I have never been this drugged up in my life.
If anyone else has any more POSITIVE expperiences, i would love to hear them. It has been so daunting just trying to get all this stuff together, I would love some support. From people who have gone through it. I don't really know what to expect. How long after stopping the Progesterone will a period" start?

***Here's to hopeing we get it on the first try!!***
Thanks for all the great experiences so far! =0)

I took clomid 100mg for two months on days 3-7 along with progesterone vag suppositories for until af arrived (or thru 1st trimester). I took a cycle off due to some traveling and not being around for all the bloodwork/ultrasounds. The third cycle I did clomid/iui and progesterone vag suppositories which gave me my second wonderful now 3 year old dd. I also have a wonderful 7 year old dd. My ob office doesn't do clomid for anyone so I was with an re from the beginning and was only allowed to do clomid without injections for 3 cycles and 3 cycles of clomid with injections for a maximum of 6 cycles on clomid. Fortunately I never needed the injections. The only side effect I had was major headaches from the clomid.

I was on Clomid for 6 cycles. Progressing up in dosage. The 6th one was the last dose my ins. would pay for. It worked!!! I had no side effects at all. Good Luck to you.

I usually started a progesterone induced period within 3-5 days after stopping the medication.

I was on metformin (glucophage) for a while but had to stop it because of the side effects. I hope it does the trick for you!

I hope one time on the Clomid is all you need. Fingers crossed and praying for you to get great news!

I took clomid, up to 200 mg. for almost 8 years, finally got pregnant and then miscarried. Turns out I had polycystic ovarian disease so the clomid was doing me no good. I had surgery to remove the cysts from my ovaries and the first cycle I was able to try after surgery I was given 100mg of Clomid and now I have a 11 year old dream come true.

Good luck to you.

I took Clomid 23 years ago. It took 7 cycles, but ended up with DD, so, well worth it. DS folllowed 17 months later; no Clomid necessary. I don't recall the dosage, but I do not remember feeling bad, gaining weight, or any other negative side-effects. Best of luck. I had several miscarriages before they figured out my problem, so I know how difficult it can be.

Thanks for all the well wishes ladies. We are keeping our fingers crossed! Who would have thought that having a baby could be so complicated???

My wife is also on both Metformin and Clomid. So far she has been successful twice in getting pregnant, but sadly she miscarried both times. But that is still an improvement. She never got that far before the meds. Going to try again soon.

Can't comment on the clomid, but I can comment on recurrent miscarriage. What seemed to do the trick for me on that one was Folic Acid -- megadoses of it. I just had a new baby after 10 years and lots of miscarriages; the last two pregnancies stuck for me, and the only thing I did differently was to take that folic acid. (I'd been taking the Prometrium before, and I took it this time, too.)

Megadoses of FA (about 1400 units daily, several times the amount in normal prenatal vitamins) are the recommended response to a little genetic glitch called an MTHFR mutation, which has been known to be an issue with recurrent miscarriages. It is a set of two possible mutations, and supposedly it is only a problem if you have both of them. I only have one, but my OB thought that loading up on the Folic Acid couldn't hurt. Whether she was right or not I can't swear, but I've got a kid in a crib right now, and I'm 45 years old. The extra FA doesn't cost very much at all. The only danger to taking it is that it can mask certain types of anemia, so you have to be careful about blood counts.

Glad to hear about the Metformin.

Metformin can cause some GI upset. Some people need to take it with food so experiment on what works best for you. I lost 13 lbs in 3 weeks when I was on it. (and I got PG the first month :) ).

The doctor wanted me to stay on it for a few weeks after I got PG. It think I stayed on it for the first 8 weeks.

I also used progesterone suppositories, because my progesterone levels were low. I would have probably miscarried without the progesterone.

Good luck!

Thanks again everyone, so far NO SIDE EFFECTS from the metformin or progesterone. I HATE pills though, so you would have thought i was signing my life away when i took them! lol I was all worried about the terriable side effects everyone talks about on the rx review websights. But so far nothing at all. =) VERY VERY happy. I am praying that AF comes right when she is supposed to after the progesterone and then the clomid does what its supposed to as well.

HOW long after taking the clomid did you ovulate??

I believe mine was about 7 days after my last clomid but it's been almost 6 years since then so I may be foggy. I was on clomid for days 3-7 if that helps any.
