CKU-M is coming to Boston this summer and I'm really thinking about it. live close enough that I wouldn't need to stay in the hotel so that would really help price wise.I'm attending a CKC this weekend, so I'll know better if I like the feel of it then but I'm really immersing myself more and more scrapbooking so it's very tempting.

Who has attended one and what did you think? Is anyone else thinking of going to Boston this summer?

I do wish it were a plain CKU instead of a Masters. Do you think it'd be a problem if I've never attended one before? I'm not a beginner, I've been scrapping about 6 years, but I don't do a lot of the more advanced techniques out there.

Thanks in advance!

I am also considering going...but I will be coming up from New Jersey. I have not done a CKU either, but I am not that concerned.....

I attended CKU-M in SLC back in 2004 and really loved it. I had some great classes and met some great people. I think no matter which CKU you attend you can't go wrong - they're all great! I went to three in one year - 2 regular and Master's - and loved each one. I say go for it, you'll have a great time.

One of my scrapping buddies attended CKU-M in Anaheim last year and I've attended CKU Provo and CKU-Albums in Provo. I really enjoyed albums and the regular CKU. My friend enjoyed Masters, too. I think the hardest thing is just completing everything - take your vitamins, 'cuz it's go, go, go!

Enjoy!

I have looked at the classes and I am really kind of disappointed...some of them seem like repeats from CKC only with updated descriptions...and it seems more like arts n crafts than scrapbook technique...it is way too much money for me to be un-enthusiastic about before I even get there....

I think I am just going to visit friends in Boston and NH that weekend instead....

I was thinking about going to CKUM cuz i am only in RI.. but somehow i can't justify the cost.. $400, plus hotel, plus food.. just to go to Boston! LOL, and if you think about it, you only get 6 classes for that money..
I personally, would rather save and go to the SDV in Disney in Sept. 2007, (this year is out cuz i am going to WDW in Nov.).. But, that was like $500 for 3 days, with some food, AND hotel (Beach Club) in Disney!! Seems like a no brainer to me!! lol.
Seriously, i think CKU is getting a big head.. seems like the cost is a lil' crazy. I went to CKU-R in Nashville TN, in 2004 cuz i taught at the LSS, and we got a great deal.. but the cost is just steep for what you get i think.

Wow, I didn't realize that they've shortened Masters. When I went back in 2004, it was 4 days not 3 days long. The first day was Product Showcase (aka make-n-takes) and a "behind the scenes" session with CK staff. That night we started the Shake Up Your Style workshops and continued them the next morning/early afternoon. And in the afternoon of the 2nd day we were the live audience for QVC. The last two days were full days of classes, 8 in all; 4 classes were 2 hours long the other 4 were 90 minutes. It's a shame they've shortened CKU-M because it was wonderful when I went. I learned so much and came away with so many wonderful ideas I never would have thought of.

If any of you do decide to go I'm sure you'll have a good time, though.

I decided not to go also. We were going to do our family summer vacation in June but because of the snow and flood days school is going much later than expected, so we'll have to do it at the end of the summer and it would be the exact time of CKU. I'm keeping it (or something like it) in mind for next year though! That SDV in WDW may be too tempting to resist - my 2 favorite loves in one? Oh my! And if I have it in mind now I can budget for it.

EXACTLY! :thumbsup2 Great minds think alike! LOL

PS~ Where in MA are you? (you can pm me if you would rather not disclose that info)

I am also considering the SDV at WDW in 2007...I love the Beach Club...stayed there for our 10 yr anniversary...I think i am still paying it off :rotfl2: but I think I would really want to go the parks....definitely going to Abescon...loved that one last year....

I just couldn't justify 400.00 for what I was getting with hotel, food and travel costs added it was going to be crazy :teacher: ...the CKC in Valley Forge seems to be a better fit for me... :teeth:

Do you think SDV will be at the Beach Club next yr too? Or would they move to a different hotel? I haven't checked with them in the past, so i don't know what their track record is at WDW.

Hi Caitsmama :wave2: I'm on the North Shore of Boston.

I don't know much about SDV, but I do know that it is usually at the Contemporary, but this year they exceeded the capabilities of that and moved to the Y&BC.

My only hesitation about SDV at WDW is would I want to be scrapping when I could be touring? I'd have to have a few days cushion in there just for the parks. Of course, if I get the AP like I'm thinking of for next year that'd make it pretty easy for me. :rolleyes1

Well, I for one hope they exceed capacity next yr too.. The contemp. does nothing for me really, the Y& BC i think is a much more beautiful hotel! So, i would say if they got that big of a crowd this yr, hopefully it will happen in 2007 too! LOL
As for cropping at WDW, i figure it this way.. It will be pretty hot, so i plan on cropping during the day time, then going to parks at night. And like you said, of course allowing a couple "free" days just for WDW fun!
I would have loved to go this yr, but i just found out about it, and there is no way i can save up, when we are going to WDW in Nov. But, now i think i have plenty of time to save for next yr.
Their prices really aren't bad, considering the cost just to get a room at the yacht or bc by itself..
