I'm coming out of lurkdom to find out how many people had characters at their wedding. I used to be a performer for Disney and weddings were my absolute favorite. I know I will want characters at mine since I have been on the other side, it will be very meaningful.

Most weddings I did had Mickey and Minnie, but I did do a few with some rather unusual combinations. One was a vow renewal with Mickey, Jasmine, Cinderella, and Buzz Lightyear. Another one was a beautiful Japanese wedding with Mickey, Minnie, Daisy, Donald, Chip, and Dale.

It seems that most people have the mice in their yellow formal wear, I've done one that was at Christmas time with holiday outfits. I really don't want them in their yellow formal because I think it is just the ugliest Minnie dress we have. I'm curious if people picked other outfits. I know I also want to have Belle and Prince at my wedding, not sure if that is possible.

Anyway, who had characters at their wedding? Who were they/what did they wear? Pics are appreciated!

Here are some pics of characters in wedding attire for those that may be curious:

This is the dreaded yellow formal:

Hi! I'm sorry, I haven't had my wedding so I don't have any pictures or info for you...but I'm really glad you mentioned the Christmas outfits for Mickey and Minnie! I thought they were just either the yellow or the purple outfits (those are the only ones I've seen posted for pictures here). I'm relatively new to this board though. Just curious...I'd love to have the Mickey and Minnie in the Christmas outfits, but I'm not thrilled about Minnie's green bow. Do you think, it could just all be RED and not green?? What kind of performing did you do for the weddings?? :)

I honestly don't know about the bow. We just take the costume they give us. All the arrangements as to which one are done in advance. I definitely have not seen all the costumes there are available for special events. (We get very excited when we work events with non standard costumes. I've got some other pics including a Chinese Mickey that is super cute).

What the characters do will depend on the wedding itself.

For intimate weddings in which the reception immediately follows the ceremony, the characters come out as soon as the reception part starts. We take pictures with them, help them cut the cake, and dance with them. At least one dance Mickey dances with the bride and Minnie dances with the groom. Then we trade partners.

For larger weddings, we are at the receptions. The standard thing for us to do is to cut the cake (Minnie puts her hand over the bride's and Mickey puts his hands over the groom's for the cake cutting), take pictures, and dance. We will typically do the dance mentioned above (Minnie with groom, Mickey with bride) and then whatever time is left over we will dance and mingle with the guests. Most of the receptions I've done have had DJs and they had dances like the Electric or Cha Cha Slide aor the YMCA which are always nice because everybody knows the moves. Another very popular one when Mickey is there is "Hey Mickey".

One wedding they had a kids' room for those kids who were too young or bored to be in the reception and we made it a point of visiting that room. At the holiday wedding I posted we not only did the regular cake, but we helped cut the groom's cake and take pictures with it. (It was a Philadelphia Eagle's cake).

You are paying for a half hour of their time, and if you are doing a Wishes or Couture wedding where the reception is separate from the wedding (Unlike the Intimate Wedding) then it really depends on the bride and groom, we take our cue from them.

At the vow renewal I mentioned where it was Mickey and the princesses, Mickey and the princesses went out first and just danced with the guests. (No Minnie, so no cake cutting or special dance.) Because of regulations with the Pixar characters that were made before Disney owned Pixar Buzz Lightyear had to go out after the Disney characters, he could not be on set with them at the same time.

That was a really amusing one because we had to stall for a song while the characters got ready. One of the attendants came in and told us to stall that the DJ had played "Grandma Got Ran Over by a Reindeer!" This was at the couple's 50th wedding anniversary/vow renewal. I sincerely hope that somebody requested it, at least hte couple did seem like they had a sense of humor!

At the Japanese Wedding with all the characters (it was an intimate wedding, just the bride and groom, no guests) we mostly just did pictures.

I have no experience to offer here with characters at weddings since my daughter hasn't gotten married yet but I wanted to say thank you for sharing those pictures and for being part of the "magic" that made so many special days even more special... I think the characters add so much fun to the event.

Im on my laptop, so Im missing our wedding photos.

We had Scuba Mickey due to we were at Living Seas. He ware a scuba suite of corse. I can't say the color was all that nice, but hey its his suite and he wares it well. lol

We also had Mickey and Minnie. I requested no gold clothes. They came in a lavender color and looked very nice. Same dress as the gold one, but lavender.

Can't help (sorry!) but this seems on topic and since you have worked the behind the scenes a tad you might know something I don't. Has anyone ever had Cinderella or any other princess at their wedding? I figured that would be HUGELY popular and I'd LOVE to do Cinderella and Prince Charming, but I've never heard or seen anything of it.

Yes! I did one with Mickey, Cinderella, and Jasmine. I'm sure they can do the Princes as well, it's just not very popular (the most common are Mickey and Minnie). I know at mine I want Mickey and Minnie and Belle and her Prince. The last one might be hard because the characters greet in their most recognizable form, so instead of Prince he greets as the Beast.

It took a long time for me to get a picture of him as the Prince (in my sig) and was only done as a special favor to me on my last day of my CP. The only reason I could get it done was because he was in the castle show (Cinderellabration at the time). I am really hoping that Ican get him for my wedding, but it may be difficult.

The other princes will be much easier to get because they greet all the time and are in the parades.

ETA: I wish I had a pic of the wedding with the really bizarre mix of characters (the one I mentioned with the Princesses) but either I didn't get pics of that one, or they were on a disposable camera that was misplaced.

I WISH I could fit it into our budget, but its just a little too far out of reach. DF can't justify 1200 for 30 minutes, but I know I could. :) Thats one of the few things he just couldnt get on board for, budget wise. :(

My WP told me that Minnie and Mickey had new gold formal attire (not the dreaded ones you were talking about)....Here's a pic of them:

We had them in their purple formal outfits, which I LOVED! Also, Mickey didn't wear his top-hat, even though he had the tux on. Frankly, I'm glad! I didn't plan it that way, but I like it better!

I LOVE that Donald took off his hat for the special occassion in the picture of the group of characters!

This is the best wedding picture with characters I've ever seen!! This could be an advertisement for Disney Weddings!!

Oooh!! I love the new outfits. Thanks for posting your pics!! I think I'm definitely gonna go with the new gold outfits if I use them in the wedding. It's so much better looking and sooo sparkly!!!! Thanks jacqu3lin3!!!:goodvibes

I wish this option were slightly cheaper! I would love to be able to have Mickey and Minnie if only for my little flower girls!

The picture doesn't do it justice. They are much more glittery in person, especially Minnie. I remember thinking..."Wow Minnie is so sparkly"

I know you can have Belle and the prince/beast if your wedding is at the beauty and the beast stage in mgm.

On that wetv special they showed all of the princesses dancing with guests.

I think it would be possible!

The characters are by far my favorite part!

I kind of want Roger Rabbit to be at ours along with mickey and the gang, but I am scared that it has been so long since I have seen him that it wouldn't be possible.

I haven't had our vow renewal yet but we will have Mickey and Minnie at our Wishes reception. I do like their new gold outfits better than the yellow ones. I thought you could also have them in their regular original outfits. I'll ask at our planning session in June.

This might help those planning to have characters:
When I was getting info on the characters from my sales manager I was told that you could not have Princess Jasmine and Mickey at the same time.(no mixing character themes) The characters had to be alike meaning Buzz and Woody, Mickey and Minnie, not Cinderella and Dopey. He said Pixar characters cannot appear at the same time as the Disney characters. In my email from him it also states no villians, Lumiere is used for Be Our Guest song for 1st course. The following characters are NOT allowed:
Star Wars and Jim Henson/muppets characters
Winnie the pooh and all related characters(piglet, tigger, etc)
Jacque & Gus Gus from Cinderella

Also when you request the 7 dwarfs, all 7 have to appear. Dopey is the only one that can be booked alone. Chip and Dale, Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum and Tuck and Roll have to appear together and not alone.

Hope this info helps those planning!

I feel horrible for not knowing this - but who are tuck and roll?

From Bugs Life I think....I'm a Character fan and I'm not sure

I'm so torn on what to do about characters. I know I'm going to have them, but who and how they are dressed I'm not sure. I don't like the new gold, but wasn't a fan of the old yellow. I know Mickey has a simple Black tux with White shirt, but I wonder if Minnie has something matching she can wear. I would love that. I should find out. I'd love the Year of a Million Dreams outfits. They were my favorite.

You can always have Minnie dressed in her classic red polka-dot dress. It's timeless!
