I know most people won't see this until later in the week, but anyway:

What did you get (camera or accessory)?

Was it a surprise or did you know ahead of time?

Did you use it on Christmas day at all?

Ever had one (or similar) before?

And for those who GAVE cameras or gear:

What did you give (camera or accessory)?

Was it a surprise or did the recipient know ahead of time?

Did the recipient use it on Christmas day at all?

Has the recipient ever had one (or similar) before?

I did not receive anything under the tree camera related, but........

I did just order a Tamron 28-75 f/2.8 and an SB-800 for my D50 :)

Merry Christmas to me :cool1:

I got a remote shutter release. Now I can shoot with a long shutter speed and not have to use the timer. I also got a circular polarizer. Now I just need to practice using it since I have never used one before.

I gave nothing (photography related). But I got:

Hand Strap
Ball Head Quick Release Plate
Real World Image Sharpening by Bruce Fraser (a book)
The Photoshop CS2 Book for Digital Photographers by Scott Kelby

I got the Canon S5 and it was a HUGE surprise! I definitely didn't know I was getting a camera! :goodvibes I wanted this model because people I know have taken really nice concert shots with it and I love taking pictures at concerts. So this is just what I wanted! :cloud9:

I got a Canon 40D and remote! I helped my husband pick it out for me a few weeks back, but he wouldn't let me touch it until we opened our Christmas presents at WDW a few days ago. The bad part about that is that it is a lot different than my XT, and since I like to shoot in Manual, I couldn't figure it out quick enough to take it with me to MVMCP that night. I'm starting to get used to it now though. I also bought a new Jill.E camera bag with some money that my mother gave me. I bought the small, but I think I really needed the medium. They don't have the larger sizes at the camera store that I go to in Atlanta, so I'm not sure if I will return it or not.

I got my Canon S5 and I've been plowing through the manual. I'll go back and re-read the Canon post too, and see if I can grab some tips.

I'm SO EXCITED!!!!!!!

Was very pleased to have received an MB-D80 grip and extra battery for my D80. I had a pretty good idea that the Nikon Elves had these up their sleeves, so my surprise was feigned. Played with it a little around the house, before moving on to other things. Mrs Y commented, "Now you LOOK like a pro". That's what counts, right?

I got two items - an RRS L Bracket and a rail (for panoramic shots). It wasn't a surprise, because I bought them. I didn't take any pictures today. My wife did the shooting and she didn't use the tripod. I've had brackets before, but never an L bracket.

I got the Nikkor 18-200 mm VR lens. I was expecting money towards it...but DH gave it to me first thing this morning  Good boy, DH.

Santa Baby got me the Canon 40D! It has been so hectic though that I haven't had a chance to try it out yet, but I am heading to FL tomorrow (Naples) and can't wait to give it a workout! My goal is to be completely manual by the AK pin event in May...wish me luck!

No surprise to me as I bought it myself, but I got the Cokin P series filter holder, 67mm adapter ring and a few filters (ND4 grad neutral density), Gradual Blue B2 and a Warm 81B. These were about all I had to choose from at my local Ritz. The guy actaully had the filters on the display behind the counter and said that he hadn't sold one in probably a year! :scared1: He gave me a buy 2 get 1 free deal. Not bad. The selection was poor, but it gives me something to start with. I can get the filters just about anywhere online from what I've seen.

I gave a hand-me-down Canon Rebel XT with a nifty-50 lens. The recipient was surprised (but shouldn't have been.) And, yes, I made sure the battery was charged and that it had a new memory card in it, and yes, he used it for the rest of the Present-opening ritual. He has definately had prior experience with nice cameras before, and is familiar with the Canon user-interface.

I live in SWFL. You should have great weather for your vacation. We are supposed to be a few degrees above average until the end of next week and virtually free of rain. If you make it up to Ft. Myers, check out the Edison House holiday lights. http://www.efwefla.org/hh.asp

I got a Canon G9 and underwater case - it was not a surprise; used it yesterday for above-water photos and it does quite well. Can't wait to see what it does underwater.

We gave our DD 2 camera related items - a Fuji Instant camera (similar to polaroid but smaller prints) because I want her to use her artistic and creative juices with her photography; she used it yesterday. We also gave her a wildlife camera to post in our back yard - triggered by movement and light so we can see some of the animals that come visit our house/bird feeders/pond at night.

Oh gosh - where to start? Well DH surprised me with the Canon 70-200 L f/4 on Christmas eve. (I got my big white lens!! :woohoo: ) Had me in tears. I also go a light meter, Adobe Lightroom, books on posing, lighting and lightroom. A 2 gig san disk memory card - and a friend of his was selling a very old canon slr film camera - several lenses and a few other things (haven't had time to really go through it all) so he bought that from his friend and gave me a box of black and white film to go with it. Not sure how much I will get into the whole film thing, but it will be fun to play with and another thing for me to learn. I love a challenge.

I gave him a canon camcorder for when we are out storm spotting and non photography related I also gave him the upgraded version of the ham radio he has in his SUV (he wanted one for the house) along with an antenna. Today we are headed out to get a 6ft pole to attach the antenna on, some wires and a power pack :confused3 I have no idea - I'm just going along for the ride.

Wow.

I guess it's true what they say - They don't do nothin' small in Texas!

I originally wasn't going to get any photo related stuff for x-mas, however at the last minute DW said to go ahead and get the tripod I wanted. So I ordered a Bogen-Manfrotto 484RC2 mini ball head and 055XB tripod. The ball head arrived on Sat so I had it under the tree yesturday. I'm still waiting for the tripod to arrive.
