Just having the line up like at POP doesn't stop the bench warmers from trying to get in front of you when the bus pulls up. They will still try and say they "were in line" sitting on the bench. People wil just amble up and stand outside the chained area and still insist they are "in line".
Well...that isn't going to work for me. Those benches are aways away from the que's. No telling what someone is sitting there for, or even for which bus. They aren't nearly the same thing as the benches at moderate or deluxe bus stops.
Those folks are not getting in front of those in the que...I've seen them try, but the que'ers were not having any of it. In line means 'in line'...someone in front of you, someone behind you.
There are no roped off areas at the deluxes. Anyone knows that those sitting were there first. Some will use any excuse to get on first, but their selfish character is showing. Too bad money can't buy manners.
While I agree that those sitting on the benches have probably been there longer, many of them just don't care as to when they board the bus. If they get up, when the bus is arriving, then they need to get into the line.
My issue??? It's never a line..it's a clump. And trying to get a clump to form a line is like herding cats!!!
I sometimes sit on the bench..especially if the bus to the park I want is just pulling away when I'm approaching the stop. I know the next bus will be awhile. But, if I see a lot of other guests approaching the area, and I don't want to be at the back of a huge line for the bus, I get off that bench and amble on over to the curb area..putting myself towards the front of the line, or clump in some cases.
My favorite story??? We were at VWL last August. My dd and I were waiting for the bus to DHS...a lot of others were with us. Well, the bus came along, we got into our 'clumppy line'...well, as people were boarding the bus, a woman in an
ECV came along..she stopped at the front door of the bus, right next to those who were boarding the bus. She yelled in to the driver that she needed to board the bus and couldn't get off the ECV to do it. Oh, and she had other family members coming along to join her. I just stood there, about 9 people back from the door, looked at my dd, and said, 'Okay, here we go. This is gonna get interesting.' At this time,
ECVs had to be boarded first. But she had arrived after the boading started. She was very aggressive. So, the driver gets off the bus, talks to the woman, who tells him there are going to be about 7 more guests coming to join her, in addition to the 3 with her at that moment. He has her pull around to the rear door, with her party. Well, of course those trying to board the bus at the front door have now been stopped. Seriously???? Oh, sad but true. The driver had closed the front door. Now, as he is on the bus, most likely clearing out the ECV tie down area of guests that were already seated there, there is a group ambling down the walkway, yellling...'Hey, Ma, we're here. But the kids are behind us a bit. Should be here in a minute.' And off they all go to join Ma.
Well...those of us at the front door are more than a bit peeved. But...what do we see? Another bus heading to DHS, coming up the drive. The driver pulls in, at an angle, off to the front and side of the already parked bus and says..."All aboard for DHS..unless you want to wait for that other bus to load.'' I had to feel badly for those who were waiting for the bus to open it's doors since they already had family members on that bus. But, my dd and I led a small group off to the newly arrived bus to DHS. I can't believe how many others waited, like sheep, for that other bus.
But...it just goes to show that manners are in short supply. It's a 'you first, right after me' type mentality there. Those late arriving guests really could not have cared less who had been waiting a long time for that bus to arrive. They wanted on that bus and they were not being denied.
