Who gets clinically depressed upon leaving WDW?

Yep. I was depressed for weeks after returning home. I stayed away from the DIS for at least a month because it was too painful to read about other people planning their trips. It was about 3 months after our return that we decided we just had to come back so we started planning for our next trip.

I can't see us living in Florida though. We really didn't like the area very much. But we are planning to move to Charlotte, NC sometime in the next few months. Disney isn't the main reason, but being an 8 hour drive away from Orlando was definitely a factor in the decision. For a family of 6, being able to drive would make yearly trips to WDW a lot more realistic.

But how does one pull that off? Seriously, how do you find a job, and a life, in a strange place? I am intrigued...

DH and I moved from MA last October. We owned a pet sitting business and moved it here. We both worked for WDW part time in concierge as well. We took the concierge positions at a very low pay scale to "get our foot in the door" with the company. We had a lot of money saved and no debt. Our apartment also went condo and we got a very good deal on it so we have a lot of money in equity now as well. DH is now in Marketing with WDW. I am still PT concierge and running the pet sitting business. We are making a lot less than we were in MA and now have some debt but we are very happy:) We have a lot more friends here than in MA. People are very friendly and are good people. They like to volunteer, help the community, etc. Disney is like this as well-lots of volunteering opportunities. My parents saw Celebration and decided to move from NY and retire here as well! It is great being so close to the parks but it is a big lifestyle change. Florida is very different than up North! We also have no kids so it was easier for us.
