Oh Kim, are the expectations of our children not incredible????? Drives me crazy!!!!!
How is your mom doing?
Thanks pd! Seriously, WHAT do they think?! Silver spoon and all!
Mom has been home for a few weeks now, thankfully! Not sure that she's any better, but I guess she just has to deal with the colitis. Dehydration is the biggest problem. I know my niece and nephew (blamemysister's kids) spent a night over there last week and the kids said the food was 'bland' - not their word, but my and their mom's interpretation of what was fed. Maybe Mom has been adhering to advice?

Thanks for asking!
Kim - it's amazing what comes out of the mouths of babes. Is she looking to do serious competition skating as she gets older? That is a huge investment, but her skating is adorable! Please let us know how your mom is...
Thanks Ann! I don't know how serious she might become, she just likes it more than anything else she's ever done before, and she's done other things (soccer/softball/cross-country) that's she enjoyed and she was good/acceptable at, but skating seems to come naturally for her and she is MOST dedicated to this ONE activity over her others (band & GS). Her last, and only, 2 competitions just sparked the fire even higher!

She was SO MAD when I told her and her coach a few weeks ago that she'd miss the June competition - until earlier tonight, when I showed her our e-tickets for WDW for 11 nights!

THEN she understood!
She also got her report card - high Honor Roll, again. How, or why, do you hold someone like her back? Wouldn't I be failing her, as a parent, if I didn't encourage/support and PAY for all she's good at? Please, I'm not bragging - trust me, these 'successes' of hers cost me! THAT is MY issue. How do other families get $$ support to let their kids do what they need or want or should do? Now I'm soap-boxing.
Mom update above. I've overstepped the speak time, I think. Sorry.
Nope.

Happy to listen to anything you have to tell us Kim.
On the subject of Kelly and kids in general..... yep they are sometimes a piece of work aren't they.
Now if you DID have the nerve to work all summer long (in her perspective), you would be breaking with tradition and abandoning her for the summer
Besides how does she plan on getting to all of these skating things if you are working all summer?
It is a no win situation, whichever way you look at it.
Thanks Robin! Yes, if I 'had the nerve to work all summer"

she would have NO ONE to take her, plus she'd be who knows where in camp or childcare all summer! She wouldn't be skating, that's for sure! Great Mom advice! Thanks!
Happy Birthday to Rick!
HUGE DITTO!!!
