Who feels like a threadkiller - Take 4!

Hi everyone!

Hi SWTHD - how has your day been?

I made french onion soup tonight. I know it's hot outside, but I couldn't resist. It is REALLY good.

I also made 2 10" cakes and a 6" cake (for us to eat - frosted with cream cheese frosting). Tomorrow, I'll make 2 6" cakes for the top layer. Then I have 4 9x13 cakes to make (filled & frosted, but undecorated for extra slices in the back at the wedding) and 2 8" rounds for the grooms cake. Then....I'm done!

Ya'll take care and have a GREAT day!

Today was nice and relaxing, thank you. Good luck with the cakes! You sure are busy :faint:

Saying hi.

Long day.

Waiting for our trip

Poor Elvis, he has been hit by the recession. Took him him for his Grooming yesterday (DESPERATELY NEEDED) and the Groomers went out of Business.:guilty:

Only it took me about 2 minutes of trying to open the Groomers door and , knocking & putting my face up to the window to figure out (why bother reading the HUGE SIGN on the front window of the store) That they are indeed "OUT OF BUSINESS"!:rolleyes1

I am always exhausted!!!! :lmao: Just to claryify The pacemaker itself was turned on, but the "Self Check/Self Adjust" part wasnt. :scared1:

DU - I hope you're able to find another groomer soon....and GET SOME REST!

Thinking of you on this anniversary and wishing you a day of happy memories.

Hi SWTHD - I'm glad your day was relaxing! I hope you have another one!

I'm off to meet a girlfriend for a morning soda (coffee for her). Then I'm making another cake and playing cards tonight! Ya'll take care!

Poor Elvis, did you find somewhere else to take him.:confused3

 Ann, did you enjoy your morning out?

I've been car shopping.

I really don't want to replace my car but I'm going to have to.

It is a 1993 Honda Civic that has seen better days but runs really well still. In the past week or so it's started to smell like gas which is not pleasant. Since it needs the air conditioning fixed and the windshield needs replacing, it's probably more efficient to just buy a new car.

Now to pick something out. I want something that's small and sporty but .....

We'll see what we can find.

Hi Robin, I did enjoy my morning out - thanks for asking! I now have 2 cakes cooling and ready to be wrapped for freezing.

You've always wanted a new mini cooper - what about one of them? Let us know how the shopping goes and can't wait to see pics of your new car!

I've wanted a Mini but I prefer the older ones, not the new ones.

I thought I'd like the new ones until I drove one and then I wasn't so sure it was what I wanted.

We've been looking at Hondas and Toyotas, so far:confused3

I keep saying I want a small car and Rick keeps looking at the Camry's, which are not necessarily small cars(nice cars though).

Maybe I should revise my wishes and go from wanting a small zippy car to wanting something more luxurious and comfy.

We drove a couple of Hybrid cars and they are pretty cool.

At this point I'm not sure what I will end up with...... used or new ? sporty or not so sporty?

hello... :)

Just popping in to say :hello:

Robin, how about an Acura TL or TSX...the old body style. Small and sporty...and luxurious ;)

The 2009 Acura TL's and TSX's have a bigger body style but the 1999 and older have a different body style and they are NICEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

:thumbsup2 Just a suggestion...I'm kind of biased tho' :cutie:

 Hello there Cally.

Still taking all suggestions.

We might have found the reason for the gas smell in my Civic.

There appears to be some sort of gasline leak (right under the drivers seat :eek: )

Rick says he will take it and have someone look at it tomorrow.

There might be more wrong with it but it also might be fixable fairly easily.

Then we would still look for a new car but the pressure would be off.

I could take my time deciding what sort of car I want to have.

awwww, come on peoples, I'm bored:guilty:

Where is everyone:sad1:

Someone, please come out and play:flower3:

Yikes Robin.... leaking gas pipe??

in my post I meant to say the 2008 and older Acura TL's are nice :thumbsup2 Test drive one and I promise you just might fall in love ;)

You like your Honda... You'll love your Acura :lmao:

Okay I will check those Acura's out and let you know what I think.

I had a quick look on the internet and they do look like nice cars Cally.

The only problem is that the closest dealer to me is 1 1/2 hours away:confused3

Not too easy to get service work done on the car with the dealer so far away.

Robin - I agree with Cally....get an Acura. They're reliable enough that you won't have to go too far too often. Plus, they're a Honda vehicle, so you may be able to take it to the Honda dealership when you need service.

Just returned from visiting with the grandkids and I'm headed off to fry some green tomatoes!

How did the fried green tomatoes turn out Ann?

I think I tried those once on a buffet but I'm sure that yours would be much better;)

How do you make those anyway?? I might just be tempted to try it out.

It's been hot hot hot here today. With humidity level temps were hovering at about 115.:scared1:

I didn't go outside too much though because I had a bit of a headache, sinus I think because I felt a bit dizzy too.

I'm doing much better now but I'm very tired tonight so may make it an early to bed night.

Hi Robin! The fried green tomatoes were really good, but the horseradish ranch was okay. However, they were good plain with a little sea salt.

I dipped my tomato slices in butter milk and dreged them in a mixture of cornmeal, flour, garlic, salt & pepper. Then I fried them in about 1/2" of bacon grease. Put them on paper towels to drain and immediately salted them.

I hope ya'll are having a great night. I'm headed out tomorrow to see "Julie & Julia" with a friend of mine who is a great southern cook.

Ya'll take care!

Maybe silly questions but........

Do you actually use green tomatoes?

Where do you get them?

I know that I would most likely have no trouble getting them around here since tomatoes are grown alot here and sold at roadside stands.

Yes, you actually use green tomatoes. Since fried green tomatoes are such a staple in the south, they sell them at produce markets a lot.

I hope you like them!

ah, I see.

Sounds easy enough to make.

I think that I will try them out as soon as I find me some green tomatoes.

It's going to be another hot and muggy day here today. :sunny:

Ohhhhh:cloud9:...I LOVE Fried green tomatoes!::yes::
