Who feels like a threadkiller - Take 4!

Morning everyone.

The DISboards are semi cooperative today so thought I would try a post here:thumbsup2

Nothing much exciting going on here. Still trying to unpack boxes and find things....... in between all the other stuff that needs to be done.

Our Christmas will be held on New Years Day this year. That's the only time that both kids had time off together. Being in the medical field it is hard to have holiday time off, especially when you are near the bottom of the totem pole. People don't stop being old, or sick just because it is Christmas.

That means that I still have lots of time to finish up all of my preparation ;)

We are spending Christmas Day with our English friends. They usually go home to their children in England for Christmas but this year 2 of their daughters are coming here. So for my friend it will be her very first Christmas in Canada. So we are going to experience an English Christmas. Should be nice.

Boxing Day is Rick's extended family dinner and my family already had ours last Sunday.

Enjoy the last minute hustle and bustle, everyone. :santa:

Well Robin, I think that my card should get to you before your Christmas, even though it might not get there before the 25th!:santa:

:teleport: I'm here.... for a min.
I have to bake cookies, and wrap presents.....and a bunch of other things. Im sure.::yes::

Robin, I kind of wish I had your extra days...But Id just do more...Its a Christmas thing.:faint::santa:

:yay: I got on. I tried last night but no luck at all. It would not even load for me :headache:

PD. I will be happy to get the card, doesn't matter when it arrives.

Betsy, your card came yesterday. Thanks:thumbsup2

I should get to wrapping my gifts too but so far I've managed to avoid doing that.

PD, I got your PM but was not able to access it either. :sad2:

I don't know which cruise lines leave out of the areas you were mentioning. But it would be easy enough to find out. Maybe I will have a quick look later.

A shorter cruise is always a good idea for someone who has never cruised before. It would not be good to get on a ship and then hate it and be stuck there for 7 days.

We have cruised Carnival..... our very first cruise about in 1994, so I don't really know what they are like anymore. I'd love to give them another try just to see.

Disney is our favourite of course but I don't turn down the chance to cruise on other lines if it comes along.

We have done Royal Caribbean, which we thought was good and Norwegian which we did not enjoy as much.

We were not such big fans of their "freestyle" dining. Basically freestyle means go to the main dining room when you wish to eat and get a pager (like in a restaurant on land) and then wait for a table to become available. Some people said they waited up to 2 hours to get a table. Not my idea of what I want to do on a cruise vacation.

So as a result we tended to eat our dinners in the buffet which was okay too but the menu didn't vary much from day to day in there.

So, here is my choice of the lines we cruised in order from favourite to least......... Disney (of course), Royal Caribbean and then Norwegian. I leave out Carnival because it was so long ago I can't comment on it anymore.

Don't know if any of that helps you or not. Feel free to ask as many questions as you like and I will try to help if I can.

Robin~ Thanks that is a great help! Others have placed the lines in the same order as you! Disney pretty much has longer cruises going out of NY and we don't want to add the expense of flying to Florida so I'm thinking we will probably go Royal Caribbean. I will look into it and probably be back with more questions for you!

Robin,

Talked to the sil

There is an embassy suites, Hyatt, holiday inn very close to the ports. The area itself is safe.

Hope that helps... :)

Thanks for the info Cally. I loved your Disney Dream pictures on Facebook. I can't believe how big those boys have gotten :scared1:

I hope that everyone has had a Merry Christmas and didn't eat too much.

Well I DID eat too much!:sad2:... But I had a great Christmas::yes:::santa:

How was everyone else's Christmas:3dglasses

Hello everyone.

We finally had Christmas on Sunday and yesterday we had a bunch of friends over. So we had a very busy few days. Today I am just hanging out, not doing too much. Got dishes and stuff to clear up still from yesterday. Christmas decorations to take down and put away but it can all wait another day or two.... or 20 :rotfl2:

PD, I got your card today. Thanks. I even made the long trek out to the mailbox to get it.

Gosh was it cold outside. The wind is really blowing and it is nasty. But so far we are doing well in the lack of snow department. So I've not got too much to complain about.

Hey Robin! We barely got a dusting of snow last night, didn't even cover all of the lawn! This was the only snow we have had since Halloween weekend.

We really haven't had any snow either..... just a couple of light dustings that didn't really last very long. It has been quite mild with a fair amount of rain.

Liz, who lives an hour away from us, had quite a bit of snow yesterday.

Sometimes it is amazing how much you can be very close but get totally different weather.

Snow here, but not a lot. I can still see my lawn. It is very cold tho. 2 degrees when we woke up this morning.:sad2:
I too, have decorations to take down...but the tree is all taken care of!..Thats the hardest.::yes::
Have a good day and stay warm!

August 15th on the Dream.

You thinking of coming along?

It would be pretty awesome if I could go on a cruise with you guys but the time frame just won't work for us. :( Maybe the next TK'er cruise :thumbsup2

We will most likely do WDW in Oct for food and wine but I don't think I can let the kids miss anymore school. They will be on Fall break in Oct.

It gets harder and harder for them the older they get. We got report cards yesterday. Dante got straight A's and DeVaughn got 1 B and 5 A's. They are both still in honor classes. Thank goodness.... I think the cruise helped them.. :rotfl:

Awesome new ticker Cally.

Only 46 days until I leave for my Royal Caribbean cruise onboard the Liberty of the Seas.

Just don't have a ticker to show for it!

I'll be arriving at Animal Kingdom Villas Jambo House on Sunday morning! :goodvibes Just a quick trip with my oldest daughter. We will come home next Thursday morning!
