SOOOOOOOOO COOL! But why is the old guy in the pic tie not red???

Of course, now that you said something...I can clone a tie from one of the other guys and paste it onto the groom's dad. Dad had on a very light silver, I could try to bring that out but I doubt it'll look as good as adding in red.

:scratchin

WE HAVE SNOW!.......about 2inches....I love the snow..especially on the evergreens ...as long as I dont have to go out in it...Its beautiful!...
BUT poor Albert has to go out in it at least four times a day...and guess who gets to take him....Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
and this snow out there right now is the kind that will ball up on his legs, and Ill have to take a towel and my hands and try to melt it off, before I let him back to running around the house or we will have little puddles all over the floors...

Why yes, yes I do...

Colleen,
Cool pictures.... I love your dog too!...We use to have a G.shepherd, named bear....My dad called him the gentle giant...He LOVED kittens...he would just lick them and lick them until they were soaking wet...then cuddle them up in his paws, and nap with them.... I had a cockatiel then too...(Chico). Chico would walk all over him and pull on Bears tail fur...Bear didnt care...Just watch him, sigh, and go back to sleep...GREAT DOG!

That is too cute! I can totally hear his sigh....

and yes, I've had to dry penny off after Kayda plays with her

PD,
I LOVE to mow my lawn.....
I cant say the same for shoveling......snow that is.. ..

I did all the yardwork, even at my mother's house...and then I got allergies :upsidedow
It's weird how your body can change.
I wasn't allergic to anything til I was about 21 :confused3

We haven't had to shovel since my neighbor got his snowblower a few years back ;)

:woohoo:

Well Im off to get my baking stuff together and get myself started...
Anyone have a good recipe for banana cream pie?.... ...

While you guys are in your recipe boxes,

I could use a real cheesecake recipe if you got one :flower3:

Hi everyone!

I don't like shoveling snow, raking leaves or ANY yard work...which explains why we have a service! We don't have snow here, but it's 59 degrees outside - WAY too cold for me!

Robin - I celebrate the season by putting up my tree and baking. I don't care for the frantic rush of the holidays. I like to relax and enjoy them.

TW - I have a recipe for cheesecake. Lemme get it...

New York Cheesecake

Crust:

Oven 350 degrees

1 ½ cup graham cracker crumbs (10 crackers)
1 Tbsp sugar
6 Tbsp (3/4 stick) butter, melted

Combine the graham crackers, sugar and melted butter until moistened. Pour into a 9-inch spring form pan. With your hands, press the crumbs into the bottom of the pan and about 1-inch up the sides. Bake for 8 minutes. Cool to room temperature.

Cheesecake:

Turn oven up to 400 degrees

5 packages (8 oz size) cream cheese, at room temperature
1 ¾ cups sugar
3 Tbsp flour
2 tsp grated lemon peel (FRESH)
1 ½ tsp grated orange peel (FRESH)
¼ tsp vanilla extract
5 eggs, plus 2 egg yolks
¼ cup heavy cream

In large mixer bowl, blend cheese, sugar, flour, peels and vanilla at high speed. Beat in eggs and yolks, one at a time; beat until smooth, occasionally scraping bowl with spatula. Beat in cream. Pour into pan. Bake 10 minutes. Lower oven temperature to 250F. Bake one hour longer. Do NOT open oven door. Remove to rack to cool – 2 hours. Refrigerate over night.

I think I owed you this recipe anyway....if so, sorry it took me so long. This is the recipe that I always make for my family at their request.

I don't have a recipe for banana cream pie that I've tested...DH is not a fan, so I don't make them. I love them and will occasionally buy myself a piece. If you want coconut cream - I'm your girl. DH LOVES them and I'm making 2 for Thanksgiving - they're tried and true!

Take care ya'll and I hope you're having a GREAT day!

good morning!

Ann~ Do you have a yummy, but easy recipe for sweet potato casserole? I think we'd prefer one with Marshmallows rather than nuts on top. Pr maybe nothing on top. Thanks!

Do I ever! I'm headed out the door, but pulling down my recipes today to get them all set. This one is another tried & true.

I like the nuts on top, but my father & sister prefer the marshmallows. So I cook the recipe according to directions then add marshmallows the last 10 minutes or so on HALF. That way, everyone is happy at my house. But they're good enough to stand alone.

I'll get it for you soon!

Ann, it's so nice to have our own resident chef:goodvibes

Hi Threadkillers! WHEW! My bedroom is the cleanest room in the house. I moved all the furniture out and vacuumed under it, washed the baseboards, the ceiling fan, the curtains & rods and changed the bed. Tuesday, we're getting the carpets professionally cleaned. Our DGD has been diagnosed with Asthma and we want to make sure she's okay in the house since we've got all carpet...plus she's sleeping in Nana's room! I'm off to do the living room/dining room and I've got some rolls rising.

Here's the recipe:

Sweet Potato Casserole

6 large sweet potatoes, boiled to fork tender
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 tsp salt
2 eggs
1/2 cup milk
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 stick butter, room temp.

Beat preceding with mixer until fluffy. Put in a casserole dish.

Topping:
3/4 c. brown sugar
1/3 c. flour
1 c. pecans, crushed
1 stick butter

Melt butter; add flour and blend. Add sugar and nuts; blend. Crumble over mashed sweet potatoes in the casserole dish. Bake at 350 for 1 hour.

If ya'll want, I have a great recipe for mashed potatoes that have cream cheese and are garlicky. The best thing about them is you make them the night before and then bake the next day...like a casserole. Folks seem to love this recipe - they always ask for it.

A NATURALLY OCCURRING ATMOSPHERIC PHENOMENA. THE PICTURE WAS CAPTURED THIS WEEK ON THE IDAHO / WASHINGTON BORDER. THE EVENT LASTED ABOUT 1 HOUR. CLOUDS HAVE TO BE CIRRUS, AT LEAST 20.000 FEET IN THE AIR, WITH JUST THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF ICE CRYSTALS AND THE SUN HAS TO HIT THE CLOUDS AT PRECISELY 58 DEGREES

Cool Huh!:thumbsup2

Our very own Threadkiller Martha Stewart.:thumbsup2 I wonder if Anne ever did time 'up the river";)

HI Threadkillers!

DU - I hope everything is okay with your mom. I'll hope for more "not bad" news than not good. We're here for you if you need us. For the record, I've not done any time up the river....but I did get a speeding ticket 20 years ago! Does that count?

SWTHD - you would love my house right now. The whole house smells like baked bread and I now have 4 dozen dinner rolls in the freezer!

Betsy - the rest of the house is done and it's clean, clean, CLEAN! Tom will dust again on Wednesday, but the heavy work is done! Here's the recipe:

Party Potatoes
10 medium potatoes
1 tsp salt
1 cup sour cream
1 3oz pkg cream cheese
1 Tbsp butter
1 tsp garlic salt

Peel and quarter potatoes; place in a large pan. Cover with water; add salt and boil until tender. Remove potatoes to a large bowl, reserving 1/2 cup cooking liquid. Whip potatoes until fluffy. Add sour cream, cream cheese, butter, garlic salt and reserved liquid. Pour potato mixture into a greased casserole dish. Cover and place in the refrigerator (overnight). About one hour before BAKING, remove from the refrigerator, brush top with melted butter and cover with lid. Bake at 350F for 40 minutes, removing foil for the last 10 minutes of baking to let the top brown slightly.

Notes: For some reason, this recipe really does turn out better if you whip the potatoes and THEN add the other ingredients - according to directions. It's not the same if you dump and stir. It's great to make this in advance and bake rather than be at the stove mashing potatoes while everyone is waiting for you on Thanksgiving day.

I think I'm going to try a Corn Casserole that I ran across. It sounds pretty good - super easy and I usually try one or two new recipes. Last year, I did almost ALL new recipes. I'll let you know how it turns out.

That sounds wonderful :lovestruc You should write a cookbook!

Well everyone, i've decided to go back to eating vegan. I was vegan for a long time and I slowly let people get to me and I went back to eating what people consider normal. But i'm sort of discovering that I don't care what people think and I need to do what's best for me. I was really happy living that way and it fits with my lifestyle. I'm doing it for my animal friends, for my health (my digestion is very sensitive and I have a lot of pain when I eat meat and dairy) and it will help me keep kosher. People think i'll be missing out but I don't look at it that way.

Anyways, i'm rambling :rotfl:

I say good for you and stick with what works best for you. I understand there are challenges keeping Kosher. I would have difficulties giving up dairies and eggs because of my cooking.

My nephew's future MIL is a vegetarian (she's Hindu) and is coming for Thanksgiving. I have a LOT of vegetarian side dishes, but no vegan.

Living in California will be a BIG help for you - it's much easier to get vegan products! I get some of them because of my fish allergies (vegan vitamins, etc) and it's hard to find!

Stick to you guns and good for you!

Ann I've made those mashed potatoes before and they definitely are very good.

SW, you should do what is best for you. As long as you are healthy and feeling well, that is all that matters.

It's definately not a lifestyle that suits everyone and I totally understand that. Usually when you say vegan people get all angry and say "I love meat so you can back off!" it leaves me totally baffled :confused3 It's just something that's important to me. It's so much easier with Whole Foods! Thanks for the support :goodvibes I need to start learning to cook more things with vegan recipes so I don't get bored.

SW, you should do what is best for you. As long as you are healthy and feeling well, that is all that matters.

Thanks :)
