Ooh, I love pumpkin pie, but I'm allergic to cinnamon and allspice. Which is a REAL pain at Thanksgiving!

SWTHD - I don't know who you're voting for (and it's YOUR vote) but I think you need to listen to what the candidates have to say (NOT your friends, the disboards OR the media), check the candidates records, do your research and....vote!

:rotfl: That being said...I hope my candidate wins :rotfl:

No pumpkin pie?! :guilty: I wonder if there is a way to make a worthy pumpkin pie with some kind of cinnamon and allspice substitute...

I'm pretty confident in my choice but the rest of my family is voting for another candidate and they love to give me grief about it XD I just can't wait till this election is over! I hope my candidate wins too :rotfl:

Just make sure the LIGHTS light up! Someone on this thread made the newspapers 2 years ago, when their vote didnt count!:rolleyes1

:thumbsup2

:scared1: Oh my gosh. I'll keep that in mind!

SWTHD - Some cheesecakes I made this year....just for you!

:lovestruc I'm honored!
:cloud9: <---You're cheesecakes make me feel like that XD
I just want to jump through the screen and take a bite out of those!

Well, I'm glad you're going to vote!

As for my favorite subject...cooking....believe me, I've tried to make a good substitute, but no luck. Pumpkin NEEDS cinnamon. If I could add the allspice, that might help, but it just doesn't work.

It's harder being allergic to Allspice, because it's in ketchup (which is in BBQ sauce, baked beans, at ALL burger joints - :headache: to order) and it's in worcestershire sauce (in everything) and most commercial marinades.

*sigh*

There are days I could go for some shrimp wrapped with bacon, flame grilled and glazed with bbq sauce (a personal fav). Sadly, I'm allergic to seafood, too! The other threadkillers know this and I bore them TO TEARS when it comes to allergies. Cruisin's son is allergic to nuts, so she has a nut free house - which would be hard for me.

I'm glad you like the cheesecake. The chocolate oreo cheesecake was for my neice when she stayed with us for a few days (her request) and the one with the strawberries.....I could make in my sleep!

Everytime the family does something or goes to something - they ask for a cheesecake. Heck, I've even made it for my parents attending a pot luck that I didn't go to!

I'm sorry that you can't enjoy pumpkin pie :sad2: That's a human right. I'd never thought about all the things that Allspice was in. And no seafood?! I'm sorry about your allergies, that's tough.

I've never had homemade cheesecake. No one I know is that skilled. Your family is so lucky!

Ann, you never bore me to tears>

Betsy, sorry to hear about your stubbed toe and hang nail:guilty:

Personally, I like pumpkin pie, one of my favourites :goodvibes

Ann, I meant to tell you. On the flight home from Orlando last week, the pilot came on and said we were 60 miles south of Jacksonville.:)

I sent many, many silent hello's down to you as we were heading over.

Did you catch any of them:upsidedow

We have Thanksgiving here on Monday. As of now we don't have any huge dinner plans. There is a chance that we might take the trailer out for one last trip before it gets put away for the winter.

:wave2: to all the rest of the threadkillers.

Robin! I WAS thinking of you on the day you were flying...that must be why! I forgot that your Thanksgiving was early. Happy Thanksgiving. I have HUGE plans for ours. I'm having 17 (count 'em) 17 family members over. The one disadvantage to being the family cook is you end up cooking for EVERY holiday. Which I enjoy - but it does get expensive.

LWTHD - I am making a cheesecake for Thanksgiving. The main reason is it freezes well (believe it or not) and I can make it in advance.

Well, I have BIG NEWS! We have a new granddaughter. Her name is Daniella and she was a 9lb baby. We hope to get pics and more information soon. We just found out LATE last night! It's a girl! :cloud9:

:dance3:

Congratulations Ann on your new granddaughter.

Daniella is a pretty name.

Can't wait to see the pictures.

Is that grandchild number 5 now? And which family was she born into?

Enjoy them all.

I hope to have grandchildren some day but I'm not holding out too much hope for any real soon.

I unfortunately have some not so good news this morning.

My sister in law (well ex sorta because we just found out that her and my brother never had the divorce finalized) has breast cancer.

She had surgery about a year or so ago and had made a fairly good recovery.

Well now it is back:guilty:

It has spread and it is not good.

I don't have any real details of how long she has left yet but it is at Stage 4.

She is young, turning 48 in January and I have known her a very long time, since she was 15 so that's 32 years.

I have two nephews from her and my brother, one who will soon be 32 and the other just turned 16.

:sad2: Life is just not fair sometimes.

Congrats on the grandchild Ann!

I'm sorry to hear about your SIL Cruisin

Mean Queen, am I aloud to take pictures of my food at Victoria & Albert's? I don't want people to get annoyed XD

Robin - I'm SO Sorry to hear about your SIL. P&PD to her and her family. Enjoy your dance class.

I've just finished cleaning the bathrooms, I'm going to order some cookies for the new grand baby's big brother & sister. Daniella was born to Tom & Ynessa in California and it is grand baby #5.

After that - it's lunch & nap time then my cake decorating class.

That's true  I just didn't know if since it's a nice restaraunt and the lights are dim if the waiter would tell me to stop. Guess I can just take pictures till he tell me to stop then :rotfl:

I hear ya Robin...

Have fun at class...which dances are you doing this session?

I am taking tap and hip hop this year.

I am also taking "old lady exercise class" :rotfl2: (50+)

I've been doing a bit of extra tap before my Thursday morning 50+ class so that I can keep up with the younger dancers.

The teacher is planning a big group routine this year with some levels of difficulty and I want to be able to do the harder stuff. So it means some extra effort but I'm working at it.

Thanks for explaining where the new grandchild fits in Ann.

Any plans on going to California to visit anytime soon??

SeeWhat, better to ask forgiveness than permission, I say take those pictures;)

Congratulations Ann! Daniella is such a lovely name. I know a few Danielles but not a Daniella!

Robin, so sorry to read about your SIL, but please keep the faith. My cousin was diagnosed with cancer last year just before CHristmas. The prognosis was very bad! She is 45 now and has 5 kids froma bout age 8 to 15. She told the doctor that she couldn't die because she had 5 kids to raise, so that death was not even a possibility. She has been having surgeries and chemo since CHristmas. Yesterday she had another surgery and her oncologist said that everything looks great and that he is very optimistic for a complete recovery. So you just never know.

I sure hope it all works out for your cousing and my sisterinlaw PD.

She did tell my mother about a month ago that she feels that she may not make it until Christmas:confused3

That was even before she received the diagnosis that she has now.

Hopefully she is wrong about that.

Pff i'm not liable for blinding anyone while they're trying to eat their meal! They'll just have to deal! :rotfl:

Totally agreed. Don't give up just because a doctor tells you your time is up. The body can do incredible things and can recover miraculously. Keep fighting

Ima Coconut Custard sorta guy myself...BUT since he was a baby JAMES is PUMPKIN PIE CRAZY! He can literally eat a whole pie by himself! On Thanksgiving I have to buy (yes purchase :lmao: ) 2! One for everybody else & one for Him. Wal-Mart sells mini pies for 50 cents.....Cant even think of not buying them!

Well, I have BIG NEWS! We have a new granddaughter. Her name is Daniella and she was a 9lb baby. We hope to get pics and more information soon. We just found out LATE last night! It's a girl! :cloud9:

You are WHACKED...:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: Your Cheese Cake comes before your Birth Announcement.:upsidedow :upsidedow :upsidedow
