No....that would not be a good thing ...

maybe he's a White Sox fan now.....

I'm sorry to hear about all the delays, Phil.
It's just not right!
I'm glad you are feeling better though.

Steph, you must be feeling better by now...no?

My favorite & most cherished WDW memory....

I posted this a couple years ago....the memory was rekindled by the "I love...."
thread.....

We left Erie in a Motorhome New Yars Eve, 1998...we took the whole family to WDW...me, DW, DD, 2 DS's, DDIL, DSIL, DMIL and the 2 Grandkids at the time...Kara & Corey ...(we have 5 GK's now :D )

Anyway, Kara had just turned 6 and Corey was just 2....

We met up with DW's DS, DBIL and 3 nieces..quite a group...at MGM on January 2, 1999...

It was rainy & chilly day, so we all donned our Mickey Mouse rain slickers.....and had lots of fun during the day.....had some lunch...all in all..a nice family day..

the evening was still rainy..temps went down...but, because the sun had set....we cold head ver to the Osborne Light display....we got everybody 3-D glasses and ooohed and aaahed our way through the Christmas spectacle...

Afterwards, we ended up splitting up...with DW and I volunteering to keep Kara & Corey while the others went to ride and play...

Besides, DW and I wanted to go through the Osborne Light Display at a slower pace and just enjoy them again...

As chance would have it....a hot chocolate vendor went by so we stopped to get a cup for each...and...while we were standing there getting hot chocoaltes.......right in front of one of the "Set homes"...when....

Pluto and a character attendant magically appeared in the driveway....

With Christmas music playing....lights twinkling....Disney Magic in the air....Pluto waved to all the passer-by and the "rush" to get a picture or an autograph began....

Well, all the people who wanted to see Pluto stood at the end of the driveway..it really was a polite scene...however withot a more noticeable type of a line....when one child/family would walk back from seeing Pluto...2 or more would start to walk towards Pluto...

Kara and I were one of those....but enjoying the atmosphere, the magic of the night, and full of patience, we would always step back ...sip some hot chocolate...and confidently wait our turn....the smile of anticipation never leaving Kara's beautiful face...

getting long...to be contined..

Well.....the magic of the night increased....DW was handing Corey some Hot Chocolate in a sippy cup while he sat in his stroller, and quite honestly, our attention was on him....

so, we didn;t see that the character attendant had put up his hand to stop anyone else from coming up the driveway...nor did we see him and Pluto start to walk down the driveway....

We did see them about halfway down the driveway...and they were headed straight for us..

US!

As we stood there in almost shock...the attendant said "Pluto wants to thank you for being so patient..."

Pluto bowed to Kara...held out hs arms....and with a Christmas Carol permeating the Disney/MGM air....they danced...

and they danced....Kara's angelic face beaming...smile a mile wide....eyes twinkling....they danced.....

While they danced, the attendant commented to me how delightful it was to see such patience and understanding from children of their age...how appreciative they are when they see it....

After the song ended...and holding Kara's hand...Pluto brought Kara back to us...
he bowed to her as a "Thank You" for the dance....went to the stroller....high-fived Corey...wiggled his ears....making Corey laugh in delight....

and with a hug and a handshake for DW and me...went back up the driveway....and resumed the pictures and autographs....

well, we finished the Osborne walk like we were walking on air....

"Papa, did you see Pluto dance with me?" I was asked over and over....

"Yes Honey...it was magical" I would reply..

Well, we ended up in front of the Sorcerer hat...i think it was pretty new back then....there was a stage...and a DJ playing CD's..interacting with the crowd... our magical nght seemed to be continuing....we danced...me and DW.....DW and Corey....Kara and me...me and Corey....Corey and Kara...DW and Kara.....we danced...

Ooops...we remembered about the others! I radioed them...told them where were....invited them to join our magic..

they did...and we danced...

DD & DSIL felt bad they missed Pluto and Kara's dance...but they could see what effect that dance had on their little girl...

Seeing that was almost as good as seeing the actual dance i think.....

It was a magical night...my favorite memory of WDW...

Pluto is still Kara's favorite Disney character...probably always will be...

:D do you have a memory to share?

What a nice story Brer_Papa.

I hope to experience Disney someday with grandchildren;) . I think it would be such fun.

We went to the theater tonight to be a group called The Men of the Deeps. They are a Canadian group of former coal miners. It is one of the only singing groups where being able to sing is the second requirement, first you have to be a coal miner.

Wow, this guys can sing. I have seen them before and I enjoyed them just as much the second time around.

How is everyone today??? Are you feeling any better yet Steph, I hope so.

Very nice Magical Moment! :smooth:

I'm not sure that my MOST special time qualifies as, it happened off-site but, it was Disney-related. ;)

We were staying at the HI Main Gate East and, late one night, after MGM, we went to eat in the hotel pizza place. Mind you, while at MGM, DS (about 3-1/2 then) obtained ALL the Indiana Jones 'equipment' we could find. I'm talking the t-shirt, gun & holster and The Hat, so he's decked out by now. Anyway, there was a performer there, Dean & Cindy. I say performer because Cindy was a monkey puppet and, the act was pretty funny. Well, Dean also sang. Made up songs as he went along and, even took suggestions with written info from you and, for a 'tip', he'd make up a song for you. Pretty cool, huh? Well, then Dean took a break.

So, we sat and ate.

When Dean (and Cindy) came back out, Dean started singing a song called "Matthew Jones". (Dean asked DS's name when we entered, as part of the show.) The moment I figured out that he was singing about DS, my eyes just filled. It was sooo special and, sooo cute and, DS hid under the table. Mind you, we didn't fill anything out and, Dean just DID this. When he finished, I told dh to go up there and beg Dean for a tape of it, hoping he had taped it. Sure enough, for a small 'tip' we had a personalized tape for DS. Played that tape EVERY time we got in the car AND, over and over again the whole time we were there. I was afraid of the tape getting overused and ruined so, I made copies when we got home. Still play it now and then. Now, DD loves it as well, when we tell the story again, too.

Disney was in-the-air for sure, that night.

Now, I have others as well but, not as special TO ME, as that one. :lovestruc

Thank you Cruisin'..... that night , out of all the times we've been there, was the most special night yet....night ever....night to date...lol...pck one...

I do have a secret....Pluto related....that will come to be when we go to WDW in December...with the Grandkids...I'll fillyou in on that later....

Taking the Grandkids is like a legacy...we took the kids when they were yung...now they take their kids....or we all plan together to go....or we take their kids... :D

One other I was always so happy to be able to take was my Mom.....I am from a large family... being able to take Ma was second only to telling her I loved her...

between trips, we spent many happy hours talking Disney & WDW....good memories...

Ma was supposed to be with us on that 1999 trip...but she passed in November of 1998...my Baby Sister and her daughter flew down just in cae we were missing Ma....it was so sweet of her...and it was her first trip..now she understands better...and she's hooked...

Your trip to the theater sounded wonderful....I would think that the music of such a group would be soulful and inspiring.... Glad you had an enjoyable time...

Hmmm....I wonder how Stepharoonie is also....hope she's ok....

Holy Smokes! Kim...that was an awesome story!

I do believe we should all get together and write a book..."The Magic Touch" or something....all about Disney related stories and how they affected us...

The tapes you have....as that credit card ad says....PRICELESS!

Family heirlooms for sure....to be handed down...in the words of Darby O'Gill....
to your "seed breed and generations"....

I enjoy sharing and lstening to these memories.......you got more?
anybody?

(edited again because of a keyboard that doesn't listen!)

Memo to Bill Gates...get busy on an etch-a-sketch keyboard....

Okay I have a memory of Disney

We went once when our daughter was, oh, about 6. She had made a gift for Mickey and one for Minnie at home before we left. So we took them with us when we went to the Magic Kingdom.

She was so excited. We waited in line to see Mickey at Toon Town. Mickey was so great with her. He made a big fuss about her gift, which was a paper folded fan. We have several pictures of her presenting the gift, Mickey gave her a big kiss on the top of her head and a big hug. Mickey's helper took down her name and address. A few weeks later a personalized photograph of Mickey was delivered to our daughter in the mail....it says "To Elizabeth with love from your pal Mickey" We framed it and she still has it on display in her room and she will be 17 in May:p

Now, unfortunately, Minnie Mouse was nowhere to be found. She really, really wanted to meet Minnie, so we asked and were told that Minnie was in the parade right now and would be back in Toon Town later. Well, we went back later and we never found Minnie :( . She was one unhappy little girl leaving the Magic Kingdom that day. So we found an address and we put Minnie's gift in the mail for her. I don't recall that we ever got a reply from Minnie:mad:

Another priceless family herloom!

First a tape for Kim...now a picture for your DD Cruisin'!

Someday, you and your DD will be swapping the story with a grandkid....your legacy will continue....

Too bad about Minnie...it wouldn't take too much time to send a "Thank You" note at the very least...

I keep getting these "DISBOARDS are too busy" pop ups....after some puzzled looks...and just a wee bit of cussing...I'm hopeful this will post....
