Why is the school on strike? Good question, of course they always say that it is not about the money but it always comes down to the money.
I think they are complaining about too many students and not enough teachers, preparation time

I don't really know because I haven't really been reading up on it.
All I know is that if it carries on for too long it will really effect the students the most. Their school year only goes to the end of April, so they are in real danger of having to push back the school year to finish if the strike goes for any length of time. That will affect their chances and opportunities to get summer jobs in order to pay for next years schooling. The ones who were planning on graduating this spring (Alex being one of them) will possibly run into problems not being available for employers when they want/need them.
Alex has his summer job at the summer camp up north again this year. He had to tell them that he might have to go to school instead to finish his year. The camp talked about not hiring him because of this because of course they need to have all of their plans and employees in place for when the kids arrive in the summer.
The camp director decided to take a chance that Alex will be available and hired him anyways. Hopefully he will be able to keep his job.
