Good morning threadkillers and lurkers alike :sunny:

Happy Valentines Day to all those who care to celebrate this day. We don't tend to. When we were dating Rick worked in a flower shop and would forget to get ME flowers sometimes for Valentines Day :confused3 What the heck did he think all those other people were buying flowers for

Anyways, my Valentine has gone on a business trip to Tennessee today and won't be back until late tonight, so it's me and the kids and our usual daily routine of ..... school, dance classes, Alex has a dentist appointment and on and on...... :p

Kim, I'm glad the trip is starting to take shape. I would keep watch on the airline prices and see what they are doing. They tend to fluctuate an awful lot, I've seen some good sales last minute but for a trip like this I think I'd want to book far enough in advance and not worry about it.

When we fly into Orlando in April we are paying $197.10 per person out of Detroit. You might want to check out oneway fares to and from with different airlines because sometimes you can get a deal that way and sometimes you just get better/more convenient travel times.

Of course the day of the week that you travel on makes a big difference in the price of the flight. Weekday fights are usually much cheaper than weekend flights.

I've never done a character meal so I can't help you there. We have eaten at 50's Prime Time Cafe a couple of times (no reservations just walked up and got in). Had lunch with Tom and Ann in the castle that one time but other than that we haven't really done ANY sitdown meals at the fancier places at Disney.

Vicious dogs you have there Colleen.

Penny better watch out or she'll lose her little head :rotfl2:

Snow pictures are beautiful BUT NO MORE SNOW please

Where is the last picture taken (the Canadian Club one?)

I am requesting all TKs help! :thumbsup2 Any and all ideas for a first-time trip would be appreciated! Give me the obvious - I may have forgotten since I last went  - give me the must-sees for a bunch of first-timers, ALL age ranges too! We have 1 - 62 yos. We will split up, thankfully, but group stuff is good too.

Kim, I've been thinking about ideas for firsttimers.

DISCLAIMER: This is my opinion and my opinion only, a lot of DISers don't subscribe to this opinion but..........

I would say, don't overplan. Leave some room for spontaneity, some down time. Doing the parks gets tiring after a bit and sometimes you just need a day without a lot of running around, time for exploring the resorts or hanging out at the pool for a bit, Downtown Disney etc.

Lots of people make tons of dinner reservations in advance. I'm not sure that I like that idea. What if you and the family are having a great time in the parks, you look at your watch........ oops, have to be (insert dining reservation name) in a hour. Leave the park, allow an hour travel time (if using Disney transportation), easily an hour or more to eat, if you are going back to the parks more travel time. Could take up to 3 hours of your day just to do dinner :confused3 Is it worth it, especially for a bunch of firsttimers who are going to probably be more interested in the parks? I don't know, that is something everyone has to decide for themselves. I know for me, not worth it. Now if I planned to do it on a down day then great.

I think trying to cram too much into a trip for first timers might turn them off and make tempers flare. I guess it depends on the people.

Once again this is my opinion about how I like to do the Disney experience. Everyone has their own idea of what the perfect vacation is.

My rule of thumb is if it's under $200 it's for me :surfweb:
I agree. :thumbsup2 I just hate waiting. :guilty:

How's your experience with character meals?
Love em, too. That's why the Chef Mickey's and Hoop Dee Doo - I've never done either. Feel free to recommend others tho.

The Princess meal at the castle is harder to get than the one in Norway from what I read. And I believe Disney's added a 3rd PM-it's VERY popular :thumbsup2
We'll take a meal ANYwhere/ANYtime! ;) princess:

Expedia and Travelocity do that kind of thing - it helps to see the differences, and I'll keep it in mind when dealing with the airlines directly. :thumbsup2

June 9-15, Caribbean Beach. :sunny:

Oh wow! We haven't tried CB yet! I will experience it through you. :teeth:

I agree with everything Robin said. Esp, since you are going during summer. It's going to be very hot so down time will do you very good.

And I usually make dinner ressies according to which park I plan on visiting that day. That way we do not have to leave the park and worry about the transportation.

Oh yea, and no reusing refillable mugs :rotfl2: Had to throw that one in there

Breakfast at the castle, definately 1st choice, but we'll take anything. I remember those pics - the girls got all dressed up, didn't they? princess: Kelly would do that too. ;) How far out can those ADRs be booked? :confused3

I think I read that somewhere too. Not sure of the exact dates.

DS is excited :yay: :cool1: because we'll be there for the final weekend of Star Wars Weekends! :darth: :yoda: :ewok: :chewy:

Keep the ideas flowing, Please! :worship: I just know, in my head, I'm forgetting something really basic :scratchin (some rookie mistake). :confused3

I'm going to try and do that, when I can. Chef Mickey's and Hoop dee being the exceptions.

I stayed at CB my first trip, almost 15 years ago :faint: when IT was a value resort. I guess they did some remodeling some years back. :confused3 At least I hope so! :rotfl:

Yes, I heard that too... that POC is closed because they are adding elements of the POC movie to the ride. They plan on reopening during the premeire of the movie on July 7.

Oh yea and you can plan Chef Mickey's on the day you go to MK so that way you can just jump on the monorail. No busy traffic :cool1:

We have never done Hoop dee. I hope to try it one day. I've heard so many good things about it. I'm still trying to figure out what type of dinner it is. :confused3 Take lots of pictures!! :thumbsup2
