Um yeah, and I have lunch helper duty Th-Fr, Mon-Tues. Starts first thing in the AM, when the kids start. :rolleyes2 :sad2: We/they cook everything ourselves. :faint: It's fun tho, seeing all the kids come thru the lunch line, serving them lunch, chatting with them, etc. :goodvibes

When my kids went to school they only had lunch served at school once a week. Usually that was hot dog day and once a month they had pizza, so it was special lunch not an everyday thing. Other days they brought their own lunch from home or in some cases went home for lunch.

I used to do hotdog days, actually I was in charge of them for many years  I really enjoyed being in the school and seeing the kids too. I was known around the school as the hotdog lady for many, many years :rotfl2:

:rotfl2: We're serving HOT DOGS tomorrow!! :rotfl2: Too funny!!! (I don't want the 'stigma' tho!)

On the other days I'm helping, we're also doing something mexican-ish, and dunkable bread sticks with pizza sauce and cheese, and PBJ & soup. The easiest 4 days I've EVER pulled! :teeth:

This lunch concept at lower grade levels is foreign around here. I do not know of any schools in our area that do that on a daily basis.

A lot of our schools have Breakfast programs now though. I helped with that a few times but it was too hard to be there early and still get my lazy butted daughter to school on time :rotfl2:

I didn't mind being called the hotdog lady. I could have been called worse and besides all the kids in the school knew me :teeth:

Matt went to an even smaller school for 2 years (K-1), before this one that he & Kelly attended/attend, and that first school did what you did - Friday hot dog/special lunches only. This school tho, and most other private schools around here, have daily hot lunch programs, the public schools have breakfast also, I think. What makes our small school unique tho, is that it's prepared fresh, by moms, everyday, where the other private schools have it catered in. :crazy2: We "specialize". ;) :goodvibes

My kids went to an elementary (public) school for K-8, the same school for both.

There were upwards to 600 kids at this school. Hot lunches cooked by parents everyday would be a huge undertaking.

Even though the school had so many kids, it really did not have the feel of a huge school. Everyone seemed to know everyone else and I felt the school had a close knit feel to it.

The high school they both attended (same for both again) had about double the amount of students.

Robin, I'm sooo sorry, but I've gotta update my August WISHers exercise totals, and enter my WW points, and maybe, briefly check CarMax.com (for a car for Matt - doubt there's time tonight tho). It's nearing my curfew. :guilty:

Can't believe I just posted that! :faint: :sad2:

:rotfl2:

Nitey nite!!! :cloud9: :cat:

There's the difference. There might be 150-175 kids in this school, and they don't all want hot lunch on any given day, so I think the most we've cooked for (when I helped) was 115. No biggie. We're a VERY CLOSE school family. :grouphug:

My HS, I don't know the whole school total, but I graduated with 752 other seniors back in '80. BIG school! Matt's is about the same.

Nitey nite!! :cloud9:

Been there, tried that. It's awful here in Chicago, I imagine much the same for you. :guilty: Glad he's IN tho!!! :goodvibes That's HUGE! :cool1:

Thank you :smooth:

Now for my other one, DeVaughn... we just received a note home from school yesterday that he is not following the rules and that the teacher would like us to pick a day next week to meet with her. :confused3 Why does it have to be next week?? :confused3 If he is not following the rules I want to know now what he is doing wrong.

I can not get a straight answer from him so its no use talking to him. Sometimes he remembers sometimes he does not. We have all ready explained to him the importance of following the rules and being good in school. :confused3 He is in Kindergarden and its his first time in a school environment so I wonder if that is the problem :confused3

Well I guess I will find out next week. We scheduled it for Monday at 730 AM the soonest we could.

Any advice out there for me??? :confused3

Cally, I have no advice for you but it's early in his school career, so I'm sure you can get him turned around quickly and back in the right direction. ::yes::

Morning Betsy, have a fun lunch out today.

 Cally, I would insist she/he give you a clue - on the phone if possible

~My kids teachers have called me at home during their off hours~

Via a note home secondary...having an "issue" fester without cause isn't fair.

Thanks Robin and Colleen...

Colleen I have never seen those skateboards before.. they look fun though. Wow isn't it a small world that your parents went to high school together.

Not really - when I live and work in the same town they grew up in.

We're in the "country" part of NJ, I have alotta neighbors and parental friends around me.

 hey! we haven't been on together in a while my friend...it's good to "see" you.

It's like that around here too Colleen, eventhough I live in a city of about 45,000 people.

I always tell my kids, it doesn't matter how well you think you have covered your tracks, Somebody has seen you and I WILL hear about it eventually :teeth:

I was once in the checkout line at WalMart and the cashier and another customer were chatting and I realized that they were talking about my cousin :rotfl: I just kept my mouth shut and listened.

Amazing the things you learn that way :rotfl2:

I tell my kids the same thing...I have spies everywhere...mwahahahahaaaaa. :rubbing hands evily:

Especially since I have a thing for pictures ::yes::

We went to the DISmeet and someone picked my daughter out cause she's seen her picture on the boards.

At home it's co-workers, neighbors, kids friend's parents...Cally, you paying attention to this? It's THE BEST way of keeping track of the kids in their travels. They tell me alot about what my kids do when I'm not around...I recently heard how well my son is doing at work without ever having to go there ;)
