The monkey stopped to tie up his shoe.....

Pop goes the weasel

At least that's the way we always did it :teeth:

Yup it is a terrible thing. You'd think in a country so prosperous as the United States that aid could have been to these people a whole heck of a lot quicker than it has been :sad2:

But why does the weasel go pop?

I had said earlier,
I am waiting and riding this HUGE wave
that Katrina has caused
and waiting to see where everybody lands
and how many get hurt :(

I agree that it would have been nice to get aide there quicker, but it takes some planning and coordination, especially when your city is underwater!! I understand the Mayor being upset....but watch where you put the blame.....she should have had more people evacuated!! What a mess. I just keep praying for all.

Well off that soap box...HI All

Just a short note, not staying on long. I have to work tomorrow morning. So I have to get ready, and get used to this day shift stuff (start at 7am)! :guilty:

Hope everyone has a great weekend! :Pinkbounc

There were mistakes made everywhere
and more are being made daily

The pic that got me today was all the buses sitting in a NOrleans bus yard that the caption said, "why didn't they use all those buses to help get people out who otherwise couldn't."

Hindsight is 20/20
Looking back it all seems so clear
Looking ahead
I pray they learn from
ALL
the mistakes.

Ok, I feel better now.

This is all so scary, I never thought I'd see this must devastation in this country.

~The domino effect and human nature of it all is just getting so ugly~

Trust me, I'm not making any kind of political statement, I'm scared.

~T~

It is a scary thing to watch isn't it?

It doesn't seem like it should be happening in this part of the world.

Of course we in North America seem to feel safe and securely naive, that these kinds of things don't/won't/can't happen here.

I don't watch too much of it. They just seem to run the same 10 minutes or so of video, over and over and over ad nauseum and this video is days old :confused3

OH NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All of the threadkilllers must have been kidnapped :faint:

No one has posted in almost 12 hours :earseek: :earseek:

Where did everyone go? :confused3

ZJO Threadkillers!

Well, I had a nice b'fast with hubby and did some cleaning. Now I'm going to the mall to check out some sales. Still need another church dress.

Tinknutt - you made me :rotfl2: with the comment about it being my job to be responsible to what happens when we're on vacation.....we've had some times!

TW & Cruisin - I understand being scared.

:she slunks on her soap box:

I wish they had gotten the aid there faster......Hindsight is always 20/20....just like after 9/11. The emergency prep folks did tell evacuees to bring enough food, clothing, water & medicine for 3-5 days - the help arrived in 4 days.

However, not having walked a mile in their shoes - I can only imagine their desperation. I pray and pray for them and those working so hard to help them. I would have never imagined this could happen. The looting and lawlessness makes me extremely angry, tho. I know emotions run high with this one, so I'll stop here....

:grouphug:

DalPal - May 2006 for a land trip sounds like fun! We could all pick a day at the Magic Kingdom and have lunch. I know when Cruisin and I did - it was a really special time! I'm up for it!....heck - I may even talk DH into it!

Well, I've gotta scoot. Ya'll take care and we'll chat later!

Yes, I disappeared last night way too early

This Katrina issue has me drained---

I even (almost) yelled at a coworker yesterday. Her hubby volunteered to go to LA - he's a full time firefighter/emt. She's upset that he's "leaving her"-I told her he was being selfless and is willing to help and she should be a little kinder in her words and let him go. I told her she was being selfish.

I understand she is young and has two little girls to maintain by herself in his absence-but I also told her I would be here for her and she should be proud that he wants to help those that REALLY really need him right now.

Hello,
I just popped in for a min. to say....Hi :wave2: ....Im helping DH with the elec...

The N Orleans....crisis....Is getting to everyone :guilty: ...Its so hard to just sit here in my house with all I have, and know that ALOT of people dont have ANYTHING anymore....and I know they could have helped alot better/faster then what they did...but I really dont think anyone thought it would be this bad......and the mayor DID tell everyone to leave WAY befor katrina was close....These are the people that did not ...(I know some couldnt)...but alot more then who were not able to, could have....and I keep asking myself why didnt they? :confused3 to stay for there house?....why risk lives over a house?.....and nobody saved their house...So in the end they risked their lives for nothing :confused3
All we can do now is pray for them and hope help arrives soon....AND donate what we can...

:applause: Here here Betsy! :worship:

I'm giving/donating what I can and encouraging others to do the same. I'm ever so grateful for what I have, everyone I have...it's the people that are important.

I doubt I would have stayed...

I can take care of myself but would feel responsible if something were to happen to my kids, pets, hubby or family members who would also be put it harms way for my bullhead ideas that I can survive a hurricane that far below sea level.

:someone needs to pull me off this soapbox and give me a hug d****t! :

~cj~

:grouphug:

A hug for you Colleen.

(And an unusual speech from me, the quiet one who doesn't say much although my post count belies that fact ;) )

Now everyone needs to turn off the tv, turn off the radio and get out somewhere for just a little while and celebrate the fact the you ARE still alive to enjoy this day and are thankful for everything that you DO have.

Bad things happen everywhere, everyday. But in the end life really must go on.

It is okay to be upset and worried and depressed about what is happening to those unfortunate people but you, personally, can only do so much to help them and once that is done you have to move on.

It will serve no useful purpose if you make yourself sick over it. What's that AA thing about accepting the things that you can not change and knowing what you can?

And this ends my portion of the soapbox speeches!

Sometimes those simple jobs are not quite so simple are they.

I don't like pina coladas, they are too coconutty to for me :earboy2: I'd rather a nice cold Diet Pepsi or Diet A & W root beer. Strawberry daiquires are good too but I would have mine without the alcohol which sort of makes it a strawberry smoothie, doesn't it ;)

So how much longer do you estimate until the deck and hot tub are finished and ready for the "deck party"

Well we are still waiting for them to call to tell us its here.. Its been a little over a week..and suppose to take a couple of weeks to come in...and set a day to be delivered...BUT..as soon as the wiring is done we are ready for it..... ...We cant really do the inclosure until the spa is on the deck..or they would have a hard time getting it on...We can still use it though... :teeth: ...

It has taken so much longer then I thought it would....but it is just my Dh doing it all on his days off.....I help a little ...but there is only so much I can do.......as it is we are going to temporarily just put stairs going down from my sliding glass door(without the deck that will someday next year go onto the house)....So we dont have to go through the house and around to the back ...just to use it....Everything takes so much time when you do it all yourself....

I dont use alot of cocoanut..I put in more pinapple juice....I would much rather drink a strawbarry dacquiri too......but they give me heartburn....I dont know why they do and the coladias dont...youd think the pineapple juice would do it more then the strawberries... :confused3
Also DH like them and not the SDs ;)

So your spa will be there and installed just in time to enjoy those crisp fall evenings with the beautiful display of stars.

How nice that will be for you.

I'm not much of a hot tub/spa fan. I don't think that I would ever get enough use out of one to have one.

A deck would be nice though, actually I'm thinking a small screened room would be better. I've often planned one in my head but have never gotten around to getting one put in . I would have to hire someone to do it because Rick doesn't have the time to build one and I'm hopeless when it comes to tools :sad2:
