Who ever uses the common rooms?

Some of our most enjoyable times at VWL this past December was in the Iron Spike Room.
I read in front of the fire while my husband and kids played checkers. It was very relaxing!

At SSR the kids had a blast in the Community Center playing games, foozball, etc. In fact my son started praying for rain so we'd be forced to spend more time there.
I don't remember however any common rooms such as Iron Spike at SSR. Did I just miss them?

SSR has the lounging area just outside of AP and the Turf Club which is nearby that area upstairs. The Turf Club is a little out of the way...but wonderful once you get there! Big screeen TV, pool table, bar, etc.

Our kids loved Community Hall too...we spent the better part of the day between CH and the Arcade. :)

When we were at VWL in Dec., there was a big party down by the fireplace every night drinking "hot chocolate" (and, by the way they were acting, there was probably something else in there, too...or, maybe they were just high on WDW....either way, they were having SOO much fun...but, not in an inappropriate way...we never heard a sound when we got in our room). It was SOOO nice....it reminded me of being a ski lodge. It totally added to the Nortwest feel. I would've been sad to not come back to the room and see them there. They all had on the cutest "ski sweaters". I almost took a picture.

Love it!! Wish they had been there when we were there!

We also use the Iron Spike room when we visit. One time we had friends come up for a visit and we played Spades until 3 AM. It was like having company spend some time in your own living room. Love that place. :wave2:

They do,The Bellevue room. Very nice place to read or nap. :)

We always use the Iron Spike room at VWL.

I never considered the Bellevue Room as much of a common room, I thought that it was more like a bar that had coffee and donuts for sale.

I was thinking it would be nice if the BW had something more out of the way of the hotel guests, the way the spike room and BCV common rooms are.

Once I saw a family of four with all their luggage sleeping in the Iron Spike Room. I don't know if they had checked out and were waiting to go to the airport - or checked in and waiting for a room. But they were all in a deep, deep sleep! So, I guess some people do use it!

I will certainly look for you!! But, of course...after your sig...I'd be looking for Mulan with "bedhead"!!! :rotfl:

I am less pretty and less Asian. And I have 25 years on Mulan.

(And I suspect you actually have toes on your feet. I always wanted Cinderella's beautiful toeless feet growing up - so elegant).

I enjoy the beautiful rooms at BCV (don't remember the names.) The one to the right of the entrance hall with the T.V. and also the large one as you walk from the Beach Club to the villas. These rooms are a wonderful place to read while waiting for a Mears pick-up to the airport.
We use these rooms a great deal as a gathering place for larger groups when heading out. They are also wonderful when it rains. The kids can jump up and down on the furniture, make lots of noise and spill food, and we don't have to worry about cleaning it up. It's also a great place for a smoke, especially pungent cigars. It's cute when the little ones cough on the smoke..... stops them from screaming and yelling for a few seconds..... We also like to drop the kids under 6 off at the pools, and retreat to the common rooms for a rest while the lifegaurds keep an eye on them for us......

Well when we were staying at BCV's a couple of summers ago we came down to leave for the parks one morning and the little library type area that yopu walk through was full of sleeping teenagers. Either they had a long night and couldn't get back into the room or they had a real early flight. Either way they were sleeping very soundly in some very uncomfortable positions!

At Vero Beach there are lots of kids hanging out together int he common areas playing poker or some other types of games.

My DH went out early each morning to walk and reported back that he as seen a few men with young babies in the common rooms in the early hours. He commented that it must be vacation, mom gets to sleep.

This year I saw a extended family all in their Christmas jammies taking family pictures around the tree at VWL. It looked like it was going to be their Christmas card picture. I spent a lot of time in the wee hours in the common rooms reading and drifting off. I didn't want to bother my family sleeping in our studio. It was great to have that area.

newcomer52,
That is so sweet. Never thought of using the resort's tree and background, but really an excellent idea. My own decorating leaves much to be desired.

We were "stuck" at WDW for 4 extra days due to Hurricane Frances this fall, and were happy to have the Iron Spike room. Nothing was open for a few days and we had to stay inside, and we made good use of the games there with our 3 kids. We were back in December and loved sitting there with all the beautiful Christmas decorations and music.
