My wife and I just got off the Disney Fantasy this past Saturday. 😭

As time moved forward after we made this cruise reservation time moved at a normal speed. :rolleyes1

Fast forward to embarkation day, I said to my wife while standing in the cruise ship terminal ,"the vacation is over" and just like that the vacation time machine started. :confused3
Next thing we know it's a week latter we are getting off the ship. o_O

So who ever has the vacation time machine please turn it off.8-)

Thank you and have a nice vacation:sail:

Book another cruise! Best cure for the post cruise blues!

And I agree. A week on the fantasy just flies by. So much so that we may sail B2B on the next one to enjoy 2 weeks on the fantasy!
Up until the cruise shut down we had two cruises a year booked. It was nice to come home from one cruise and look on the DCL app and see another cruise for latter that year. :cool1:

Unfortunately since our first cruise after the start up (November 2022) it has only been one a year:confused3, hopefully this will change next year. :dogdance:

I have started doing this (making sure I have another cruise booked before I go on one so I don't get the dreaded 'empty' countdown in the app once the cruise is over.

I know the feeling! They go so fast that I always wonder how anyone does less than 7 days. But as fast as they go, the memories last forever. Those memories have gotten our family through some very hard times. I count myself extremely fortunate to have taken one, let alone several now. It's something I will never take for granted.

We used to do three a year, but the cost of everything is kicking my "assets". It will probably be once a year for the foreseeable future. It doesn't seem like anything is changing on the economic front.

My wife and I are DVC members. We joined back in 1997 while on our yearly Disney vacation.

In 1999 we moved to Florida . We did not need to use our DVC like we did in the past so we starter using it for cruises. All of our cruises have been seven day cruises to the Caribbean.
The first six Disney cruises we did were done with points when it was still a good trade the rest have been cash.
When we do cash cruises we try to do either Florida resident rates or Guaranteed rates when we can find them. We will also do an on board booking credit.
This can save a lot of money.

Since we have no children we can do our cruises at times of the year excluding the height of hurricane season.
Because of this, for a few years we were doing one cruise in the early spring and one in the late fall/early winter.
It was nice because we got to know several crew members we would see repeatedly over the years and my wife stays in contact with some of them on Facebook.

With all that said back in end of 2019 we realized how much Disney Cruises were starting to cost us yearly and as much as we love Disney we started looking at alternatives.

We decided to try NCL and booked one departing February 29th 2020 for a seven day western Caribbean cruise. My wife and I had a good time so we purchased next cruise certificates to be used on our next cruise. As we all know about a week after we got home the world shut down as did the cruise industry.

We had several NCL cruises booked and canceled then re booked then canceled during the shut down so we put NCL on hold for a while.

With all of that said, when we were able to start cruising again our first two cruises since the re start of cruising have been Disney cruises.

My wife and I have decided our next cruise will be NCL. We can do two NCL cruises for the cost of one Disney cruise at this point.
We love Disney and we will be back, we are just not sure when.

This is really refreshing to read! Just got off the Panama cruise and it felt like everyone but us was constantly cruising, sharing the 3 cruises planned in the next few months etc. We don't have that time or money!

I agree. Like you guys, I was amazed at how many Disney cruises people have gone on or are planning to go on in the near future. For me just to go on this cruise, I had to scrimp and save for a long time.

We used to be those people. It’s definitely a lot harder. Inflation seems to escape some people and hit others harder. We’re in the later camp. The last two years almost all my expenses have gone up at least 20%. My electric bill has gone from 220 a month to 370. That’s just one example.

You're not the only one. Before the shutdown I had a 7 night and 5 night booked for my family of 4. I have a 7 night booked in 2024 and wanted to book the Treasure for 2025 until I saw their prices. I've always wanted to go back to New Zealand and take my family so I will save for that instead
