Oh where to start!
(The little Jordan is cute, but DH and I were both concerned about her having a hard time at school and then not starting homework until 9pm! I think she and her mom do have a good relationship NOW, but with her mom wanting her own show I can see Jordan getting pushed to the side more and having more issues with school.)
I understand your concerns TinkBoo&ElliesMum, yet I didn't look at that incident in the same way. Although I am not a single parent, my DH was out of town for almost 3 months and I work outisde of my home. Juggling the schedule of a child and job can occasionally lead to late nights, for one reason or another. I would rather see Jordan's mom having a job of her own (and therefore having some late nights) than Jordan's mom living off of her daughter's earnings. Her mother could have let Jordan go to bed without doing her homework, but maybe she learned a little lesson this way-she could have done her homework during that hour in the afternoon in her mom's office. Single parents have to do what they can to make a good life for their family and a late night finishing homework because mom had to work late doesn't seem to be that bad to me. Also, Jordan's mom stated that she did not actively put herself out there for that tv show audition-someone she knew did it so she felt that she should go. If she does end up with her own show, I don't see anything in her that shows she will push her daughter's ambitions for show business (or schoolwork) aside in favor of her new career. You are very blessed to have a DH sitting next to you watching the show so that your family doesn't have to have late nights finishing homework because you had to work until 8:30.
