Who else refinanced this week?

Krista...I was wondering where you were able to snag that 15yr at 6.25%? We've been looking as well and saw this thread. I've almost made it thru the entire thread and congrats on getting a wonderful rate!

Hi, I'm guessing you meant 4.25%. It is through a local mortgage company in Minnesota. www.traditioncompanies.com
We did pay one point. Without the point the rate was 4.625%.

Hope this helps. I keep second guessing myself because we are paying the point and closing costs, but oh well!

Ahh...yes...my bad...4.25% is correct. That's just it, none of us have a crystal ball and don't know where rates will go, but I think you did pretty well. Our local bank was offering 4.375% with 1 point for 15 yrs that I thought was pretty good. Closing costs were @ $4500. How are yours, if you don't mind sharing. From what I've read here, if you are happy with the rate you got and would be mad at yourself if you didn't lock, then you did good. We can always second guess, but I'd be happy with what you got. Again, congrats!!

Thanks! I know I should be happy, but I tend to obsess!! :scared: We are paying $5000 in closing costs, which includes the $2000 we are paying for the point.

You did good and it will only help your family in the long run. Thanks so much for the information. We might be calling our bank tomorrow!! Sleep well and be relieved to snag that rate knowing your mortgage will be paid off in 15 years! Zzzzzz

I've been looking at rates myself.

We're with WF and when I go to their site I don't really see any rates??

Those of you that refinanced with WF lately, how did you get the rates? Did you just call around?

You probably qualify for their no-fee refi. Since there are NO closing costs (well we'll see if that ends up being true or not but that's what they claim ;) ) it probably doesn't pay to shop around. You can try calling the main number on their website (877-937-9357) but wait until a time when you have plenty of time, because they have very heavy call volume lately and usually just put you on hold for 20 minutes and then take down your name and number and call you back a week later. And even if you did get to speak with someone, they make you answer a bunch of questions about your finances and stuff, which takes awhile as well. HTH :thumbsup2

they called school (which is where I work) off today due to weather, so maybe I'll call today!

Hi there,
For those people that are refinancing, did you get something in writing confirming your lock? I locked in over the phone last Friday and haven't received anything in the mail yet. And a guy is coming tomorrow to do an appraisal on the house. I did charge the application fee, but still we locked in at 4.5% and now I hear rates are back up to 5. If you did get something in writing, was it just a letter?
Thanks!

How many of you that refinanced had the underwriters come back with conditions? Ours came back yesterday needing another copy of our bank statement, a letter explaining a dispute on our credit...etc but now I'm worried that they'll deny us. How often does this happen? I don't remember any conditions when we've financed before, but we've only done it 3 times and it's been a while LOL

Lenders are more cautious than they've been in the past, however I wouldn't be too worried about what they asked for.
