Who else is waiting on Summer AP rates?

So hoping for any kind of a discount this summer...I am going June 28-July 6. Is this typically a black out period though???::confused3

Not always. Stay alert though - I booked on a sale for three nights over July 4th last year, but the rooms went very quick. Since the 4th is on Thursday, they might do the same thing this year - you never know.

It's more likely to be a blackout when the holiday occurs Friday through Monday and creates a high demand holiday weekend.

We're waiting as well. Looking for Aug 14-18, then we are checking into VWL. DD5 is dying to stay at AoA, so we will do that the first 2 nights, then we are flexible the next 3 nights but it has to be a deluxe ;)

Not so patiently waiting. Just found out my kids' school won't start until September 4, so hoping to get a good enough deal to surprise them with a trip the week before. I'll take whatever is cheapest!

Slightly off topic, but can anyone tell me if the AP rates are better than the general public deals offered right now? Specifically for the Poly? The GP rate is 20% off, but I'd like to get something better for our summer trip. Seriously considering getting an AP, but wondering if it would save me any more on the room rate. TIA!

Depending on your dates, it seems as though last year's AP discounts we 5% - 10% more than the GP room only codes....

Hmmm - 5% would almost pay for the upgrade to AP and 10% would be awesome. I'll have to pay close attention to the deals that come out. Oh, not to mention, if I have an AP, I really should plan more than one trip, right :cool1:

Well, yes of course you should plan more than one trip ;) We got PAP this year when they offered them to DVC members for $399!! Remember too that other discounts, including some dining, come along with the AP, so it might really be worth it :)

You know you have a planning problem when...

You have a very vivid dream that the AP rates came out at 2am, and everything got booked while you slept, and when you wake up at the alarm at 6am, you panic.

I need to chill.

:rotfl:

Hahaha, I think we've all been there!

Since the rumor is that the summer GP rate will be up to 30% I've got my fingers crossed that an AP discount will beat that. Since MK resorts have usually seen lower discounts, I would be surprised to see 30% off at the WL. We would be willing to switch to YC or BC if the discount is better there. Does anyone remember what the AP discount was at the Epcot resorts last summer?

Still not booking until AP discounts are out...

Just book it with $200 down and add the discount later. Also look at the other post on what the discounts should be and and the question over there. Should be the same as the current spring discounts sounds like.

You know this actually decreases the chance of a discount right? Disney offers discounts to fill rooms, and if the rooms are booking up then they have no incentive to offer them. People do this with free dining and they will eventually kill their chances of getting it. What you want is for Disney to see a low room demand for a certain period of time, then they will begin to offer discounts and promotions to try and fill them.

Gotta agree with you. That's why I'm still waiting to book.:goodvibes

I couldn't wait either. I know it decreases the chances, but I NEED to go

Im really, really hoping we might see AP rates this week.:wizard: just a wish, but maybe AP rates will be released along with the GP discount.

Well if you don't mind possibly getting your 3rd choice or not going then wait. I myself want the exact room type I want. I will let people like you wait and keep disney coming out with discounts.

I don't think a 5-10% discount is worth possibly not getting what I want. You could say the same thing about not reserving dining 180 days out as well and not going to disney all together.

In the end you need to draw the line some place be it 2, 4, 6, or however manus months out. Lots of flexibility helps but most of us probably have to secure a weeks worth of vacation a few months out.
